[Suggestion] Black out lights in bases at night to utilize Flashlight

Based on the context of Hossin, I think that if we can black out the lights of some indoor bases to make them completely dark (you shouldn't have a lot of electricity in a swampy forest xD), people would have to use their flashlight to find their way around the base instead of just popping them up to find infiltrator. I know It could be already a thing and I'm just a jerk (my laptop sucks, I turned off shadow), and if it didn't exist, there could be some problem with shadow setting if addition is made. So yeah, share your thoughts guys.

P.S this makes me feel like Vietnam 1965 with Laxxor.

The flashlight already has a purpose, though. And that's to reveal cloakers.

Not nearly as dark as they were in Beta. Back then people used the headlights on their vehicles for navigation. Turning them off once they heard ESFs or Libs overhead.

I kinda want absolutely no ambient light during the night. A slot for optics could be added to the suit, and night vision could be added along with a dim flashlight that could attached to the helmet. :D

Edit: HS/NV could get disrupted by shining a flashlight at the person too, as a balance.

What if there was a monthly cycle, going from pretty bright, to no ambient light, then back again, over the course of five or six night cycles?

If you stand in a swamp water area too long bubbles will start coming up. Stay longer and you'll get eaten by a croc. Fun easter egg!

Flashlights need a larger luminescent range while keeping its infil detect range where it is now.

Holy crap, any reason as to why it was removed at release? This seems to be a really nice "countermeasure" if those Lib pilots aren't too busy with thermal vision.

    That would be amazing.

Second Generation MMO Players don't like dark games.

Everquest used to be dark, like really dark. Dark enough that humans needed lightstones or torches to see. PS2 was like that, needing headlights or flashlights to really see. But people complained.

They ****** it up for everybody.

    It already does!

    They're called Stalker Infiltrators.

I've seen videos of Beta Night in the expanse between bases. It'd take a lot of convincing to get me to think that it might approach looking enjoyable to play.

Imo, in this case HS/NV should be made to be used as a target detector rather than a navigator.

These are what I can think of about increasing darkness:

    - Most doorways and halls in indoor bases cannot be seen from the map, which in this case encourage people to use their flashlight, sensor and SOUND and feeling to navigate. It is hard to identify friend from foe, so smart infiltrators can create some interesting chaos.
    - This can create a feeling of horror (which is common for real life soldiers who got thrown right into dark forests) and people both attackers and defenders, are encouraged to go in team instead lone wolving, for there will (nearly) always be an infiltrator that utilize darkness to his advantage.
    - Tanks and vehicle convoys should choose to either turn up the light or not at night. Tank mines become a real threat if they doesn't have their lights on (I know many people have EOD Module, but most convoys are unorganised, and the leading vehicle does not always have EOD Module). And as many people said, Aircrafts are the biggest threat if drivers can't turn off their lights on time.
    - People would prefer to go in a group, and the tern "An enemy behind every trees" become vital (aka you can set up ambushes and create some hilarious moments when a group of smarties mow down an entire tank convoys)
    - Slow down the pace of the battle so people have time to think what they are doing or what they are going to do.

Also, it would be nice if Daybreak add a Night/Day cycle which you will have a 50/50 chance of having the large moon at each night time that shine the battlefield for you:). Increasing darkness is virtually useless on Indar and Esamir, but it can turn the tide of battles for those who utilise darkness on Amerish and Hossin.

Sure, I'll just turn up my monitor brightness and have a massive advantage over people indoors too.

No. That is the reason nights should be no more than an aesthetic choice that doesn't affect gameplay. Unless they make is so dark that no amount of monitor tweaking can give someone an advantage. I don't know if that's possible though. The darkest game I've played is the DayZ mod, and this an example of how you can make the game look by tweaking the monitor: http://i.imgur.com/C3P2U.jpg

Completely dropping ambient light to zero (or black) should do wonders against simple brightness and contrast monitor manipulations. What are you supposed to improve if the only color you are rendering to screen is black? You'd have to trick your GPU to display wireframes at that point.
