What shotguns we're intended for and work best: CQC. Just so ya'll know, each faction only has one full-auto shotgun, two pumps, and 2(iirc) semi-autos. The full-auto, imo, is your best option if the situation is a zerg fight and pump-action and semi-autos for smaller scale battles(1-12 and 25-48 respectively). There's no reason to be engaging in mid-range combat with a shotgun unless the situation is sudden and you don't have the time or opportunity to switch weapons or classes. Regardless, pump works best in that situation I think.
Only problem with slugs is that they have a really slow projectile velocity when compared to carbines. Hitting moving targets with slugs can actually be quite challenging, comparable to hitting a moving target at very long range with a sniper rifle. Not impossible but takes practice and you'll still miss a lot when they do random turns. And misses with a slug really hurt.
