Best Rifle To Buy With 1000 Certs?

Hello! I'm quite new to PS2 and figured out an easy way to gain certs easy and that is to play medic and revive a lot (works for me, any other suggestions are more than welcome).

I am saving my certs to buy something nice, like a rifle, and I was wondering what the best rifle is to buy for 1000 certs or less? Thanks!

Don't go straight for the 1000 certs weapons, they aren't necessarily (and often aren't) the best. Focus on certing out your classes (like your medic and engineer tools, medic AOE heal, LA jetpack, etc for whatever classes you play) first instead of buying weapons, as the defaults are usually pretty great.

Also, which faction you play would help us determine what weapons to recommend.

    A
Thank you for your input as it is much appreciated! Yes I am quite new so I should think in less linear terms when it comes to upgrading things. My faction is Vanu

My recommendation for you is to spend some time in the VR room trying out different weapons, and get a bit of a feel for which ones you like. You can trial weapons for 30 minutes in game too from the store page. Weapon trials are a good way to get a feel for how weapons perform in actual combat, though you can only trail one weapon per x hours, can remember how many, I think it's every 12 hours but it's been a really long time since I trialed a weapon so I don't remember for certain.

    Great to know! Thanks!

Normally I suggest the AV turret. It is the best weapon. Although, it is scheduled for yet another nerf (Its 3rd or 4th nerf). So I don't think I'll be suggesting it any more.

You might think that more expensive = better, but it doesn't. Weapons in this game cost different amounts, but are all very similar in quality. For 1000 certs you can get four quality 250 cert weapons. For the first 1000 certs for a new player I'd suggest investing into diversity.

The AA Lock on Launcher for your faction, which is the Nemesis VSH9 for 250 certs.
A second anti-infantry weapon for the MAX, the Cosmos which is 250 certs.
Engineer repair tool to level 5 which is a total of 240 certs.
Medic tool to level level 5 which is a total of 190 certs.
Nanite Auto Repair for the Lightning level 1, which is 30 Certs.

That comes out to 1010 certs and makes you somewhat diverse for a decent cost. That should give you good anti-infantry abilty with two AI MAX weapons, AA capability with the launcher, limited ability to participate in tank columns, and strong support tools.

None...vs weapons are very good standard and the sidegrades don't cost much.

    199 for fresh meat bundle.

Then save your cash and wait for sales.
    Av turret
    Annihilator.
Or a nice addition to your vehicle.

Maybe a shiny new helmet or some camo.

Play a bit first then make a purchase..

As Vanu player ( and medic main ) I recomend u Terminus VX-9 ( probably best weapon in whole PS2 for medic ) very good short-medium range weapon
Also EQUIN is so damn good ( mby a have got a bit high recoil [ dont look on stats u have to look in game for that(real fights) ] but still very usefull in many ways for medic )

H-V45 ( so damn non accurate weapon BUT in short range u will be able to destroy your opponent [ DONT USE IT ON MEDIUM-LONG RANGE ] )
CME - for 1000 cert its not worth to go for it in early ( its only good in long range fight because its accurate and bullet travel speed is pretty high but for short range fights that weapon is pretty weak )

As some have stated head to VR try out a few weapons figure out what feels right to you. On a side note I would focus more on certing out your abilities then rushing into weapons.. like the medic tool!
  10. ATRA_Wampa-One

Outside of LMG's this is categorically wrong, especially so for VS medic.

Since you've saved up 1000 certs I would first max your medic revive tool since it's basically a license to print certs. After that I would train revive grenades and then at least the first 2 levels of grenade bandolier.

Once you have those done and 1000 certs, get the Terminus for short to medium range or the CME for medium to long range. If you have some money to throw at the game I would highly recommend spending it on the NS-11a since it will unlock it for all three factions and it's one of the top 3 VS AR's.

Categorically for a new player that are on par with other factions. Trying to get the new guy to spend his certs on abilities not some sidegrade
  12. ATRA_Wampa-One

The Terminus, CME, and NS-11a is a clear upgrade to the Pulsar but getting those abilities will be much better as he will be able to gain more certs faster with them than getting a new weapon.

Don't take my word for it though... it's literally the thing we tell to every new GOKU member.
  13. MikeyGeeMan

Good to know coming from goku its golden advice.

Too bad we can't replace batteries with cans of mayo
  14. ATRA_Wampa-One

    We also accept Baconnaise.

But hey, feel free to ignore the advice from one of the top VS outfits in the world.
  15. MikeyGeeMan

I would be fool to ignore that advice.

Yeah kid it will make you look really sharp.

You really don't need to spend SC in this game to be successful, but if you are you should get the following, in order of importance:
    1) Lancer
    2) Seriously, get the god damn lancer.
    3) Nemesis (Ground to Air lock-on launcher)
    4) Burster MAX Arm that you are missing
    5) Pistol. Choose between commissioner, underboss or spiker. Commi and Underboss are cross faction. If you're going to skimp, this is where you should because the beamer isn't terrible.
    6) Armaments depending on the class you like.
-Medic: Terminus, CME, NS-11a. If you're going to pick one, get the NS-11a due to cross faction, it's a super solid all-rounder.
-LA/Engineer: Pulsar C, Baron if you like shotties.
-Infiltrator: NS-7 for short range, Ghost for Medium/Long range, Vandal for all-around. NS-7 and Vandal are cross-faction.
-Heavy: Lasher is a neat weapon, but specialized, try before you buy. Starter weapon for heavy is very solid, but it's a CQC weapon. Consider getting the SVA-88 for jack-of-all range or NS-15 if you want a slightly longer-range variant of the Orion.

    TRY BEFORE YOU BUY:
Phaseshift / Any bolt action other than the ghost that can't use a 4x. Recommend against as a new player.
Ursa (Long Range heavy weapon, expensive)
    Flare (Medium-Long range heavy weapon)
    Serpent
    Shotguns other than baron
Harasser crap (great vehicle, get a feel for weapons before taking the plunge, but not overly taxing on certs or resources)
Flash crap (see harasser, but more-so and can be soloed easier)
Sunderer crap (most important vehicle in the game, but try the weapons first. It's not bad stock)
Galaxy crap (second most important vehicle in the game)
    Any engy/LA weapons not mentioned.
Eidelon (battle rifle. Great depending on who's using it and how, but some hate it. Try it first)

    STAY AWAY FROM:
Medic weapons other than the ones mentioned
Liberator crap (not because it's bad, but as a new player this vehicle is a HUGE cert pit and should be avoided)
ESF crap (solo flying is a trap in this game that for 96% only leads to frustration and quitting. Don't do it)
Crossbow (extremely specialized, but not bad. Not recommended for new players)
Magrider crap (Magrider is the worst battle tank stock and takes a large cert investment for minimal effectiveness. Avoid.)
Auto-turret (expensive and not a terribly good investment)
Valkyrie crap (this vehicle is good at two things: being cheap about flying to where you want to go and setting itself on fire, neither require more than the default loadout).
  17. AngryPlayer

    What faction are you?

Nvm, I see you are venu. No help for you.
  18. iller

Medic you say? ....Pssst... look here, I don't do this often on the forum but....

I hear the Carnage and GR22 are among the nastiest most sadistic AR's the devs have allowed to persist in the game since ... ever.
Reaper ain't too bad either from what I hear. -- Now, Orion gets way more hate but .... that's b/c HA is easy mode I guess. But I know a guy who mained medic with those 2 guns, and I'd rather constantly fight HIVE than 1v1 that semi-famous medic guy for even 10 minutes.... People REALLY underestimate how good Medic loadouts are.

If you just started, Its not too late to switch factions to get a taste... (in 1/2 hour weap demo atleast)
If real money's an option, get that first new gun with money mainly b/c cert gain is just plain Chinese-Sweatshop Slow in this game compared to 1 hour of RL work @ minimum wage until you figure out all the little tricks.... save your first couple 1000's of hard earned certs for ability & armor UPGRADES b/c without those upgrades, you WONT be earning certs any faster. These upgrades are only available via cert grinding, no one can straight up pay cash for them like they can for a slightly better gun...

What are you trying to prove?
Brutesquad isn't lying, the things he listed are better things to get than a new 1K cert gun, at least for the kind of medic play the OP seems intent on.
  20. MikeyGeeMan

Prove ... Nothing...the sharp quote was from dbz. And I went out and trialed the weapons he offered up...it was good advice.

What are you trying to prove?
