Besides the lack of continents hurting this game, their is too many sub-bases.

The biggest mistake SOE did with Planetside 2 was lack of continents how the game should be played. Not to burst no ones bubble who are new to Planetside 2 or the community, if your played Planetside 1 you would get the picture. The fights are getting more boring, more boring, more boring..I can not even express the word "boring" enough. Hell the hex system might of work if we actually had more continents. I know they are all doing this for testing so when they do bring out new continents SOE will have a better idea in the future and what to expect. In Planetside 1 we just had bases to fight at and towers around the area that any faction could take control of where we fight over as well. The reason why I say too many sub bases in Planetside 2 is cause I feel there is no outside fighting. After we get done taking a sub base, well what you know down the road another sub base were fighting at! Then you want to know why all the tanks and sundy are all clutter up. There is like no outside infantry/ tank fighting. All we get is tanks surrounding a sub base and just spamming. Take out some of these sub bases. They are just too dam closes! We need more outside fighting!!! Every time I look at the lattice system in Planetside 2 I feel Iam looking at a zig zag es-a-sketch. Outfits might used Gals even more if you could actually flank from behind if you made the continent out of bounds wider and not so many sub bases so they can be more effective.

Thanks for reading my rant. Feel free to add feedback..positive prefer.:)

on topic: if you take out sub-bases, zergs will take longer to move from one big base to another, but there still will be no outside battles, because there will be no hard spawns for the battles to feed from

if there are no outdoor fights between bases now, there will be none if you make distance between bases longer

Hm..I wonder why a sunder is in the game..I mean it transports infantry and maxes. You can even deployed it where you can actually spawn on it! Iam missing something here? You obviously didn't play Planetside1 so you wouldn't understand.
  6. Phazaar

Oh for goodness sake. It's another PS1 vet who's seen it all before. 'You obviously didn't play Planetside 1 so you wouldn't understand' is the most awfully childish line of reasoning ever. If your suggestions don't hold water in a conceptual stage, they won't hold water in implementation, like the Lettuce. Sounded **** in theory, but -had- to be done to 'save' the game because all the PS1 vets had seen it work in PS1. Well ****. It didn't work.

This game isn't PS1. Taking one feature from it, or even 5, would not make this game better. It would just make it a game that has some random (and largely useless and ill-fitting) features from a long dead game.

Your options are either to take the entirety of PS1 and port it here (which we all know you want, but it's not happening, so check that at the door) or accept that this game doesn't need to be anything like PS1 and can still be a huge success, IF the developers start investing in new and interesting mechanics, instead of wasting time and building hype only to disappoint with a feature that was old and tired a year in to PS1.

Wait, why are the boundaries over land and not the water? o_O What reason is there to not have the boundaries over the water we already can't swim in or use in any way?
  8. Dotcom

Another guy who just doesn't get it either....
  9. Sigmundr Rumare

Not necessarily, it's just that many people rather see: (replace 'foo' with specific things)

    Idea: Foo

Reason it's good: Because foo is based around foo mechanics of PS2 and could add foo to the game

    Instead of this:

    Idea: Foo

Reason it's good: Because PS1 had it.

In my thread I even said the HEX SYSTEM could of work if we had more continents. I even said the lattice system right now looks like a zig zag es-a-sketch. I was more provoking outside fighting with infrantry/tanks with less sub bases closes together. Right now, planetside 2 is just scratching the surface. 3-4 years from now, planetside 2 will have atleats 8 contintnets and it will be better!
  11. Syrathin

I don't like that attitude either, But I do like the lattice system. It may not be the perfect solution but it did liven things up a bit, Instead of logging in and seeing tiny skirmishes all over the map and a clusterflock at the Crown. Now when I log in I see a couple clusters and there are usually several smaller fights going on so you can pick the flavor that suits you.

Since it's apparently totally important to you, I played PS1 from launch until PS2's launch. I completely get it. I also get why you're wrong. Move along, or actually try to reason your ideas with more than a plea from the foetal position as you rock back and forth clinging to the corpse of PS1...

They should remove sub bases from the hex system and allow them to be taken by any faction at any time.

Agree with OP, more continents in this style would allow the hex system to work better and give an incentive to the player/empire to take a continent. This will also encourage smaller fights for sub bases for those who cant handle/don't want to fight at main bases.

Captured bases should also have a more noticeable reward. Like without a tech plant on that continent, or connected via your factions hex links, then heavy armored vehicles would not be accessible.

I know these are things from PS1, but these things worked. They worked well and added much needed depth to the game. As apposed to just running around blowing **** up.

    Lets hope your right.

Having said that. If your estimation of 3-4 years is correct, that is a long time to wait for a decent, meaningful fight.

well it IS quite boring now...

    We do not have lattice.

What we have is a terrible hybrid of lattice and hex.

What we told SOE was "remove these stupidly small and exposed outposts, make large facilities actually able to support a fight, make them actually worth fighting for and THEN connect them with lattice"

What SOE heard was "draw lines on the hexes lol".

    Also, lattice wasn't crap in PS1: http://www.planetside-universe.com/s...ad.php?t=46776

I agree with you there OP. Way too many sub-objectives that prevent any sort of vehicle push between main facilities but I seriously doubt they will do anything about it. The only way they can get this (for some reason mandated) 2000 per continent is to spread them out as much as possible. I was pleasantly surprised they would implement lattice because of the same issue. Cut down the cont size, pop size and facility count would give everyone higher frames and better game experience but that would be asking waaaay too much.
  19. Rodinvac

So the smaller bases would be turned into the outposts from PS1?
  20. f0d

one thing that does hurt is the fact that continents are WAY smaller in ps2
it makes it seem like all the outposts are right next to each other

the smaller outposts should be removed from the lattice just like they did in ps1 imo - the way lattice is implemented atm is just silly connecting every base small and large
