Seeing as how there is no beginners guide on the first page I thought I'd go and post my own. I have over a week of playtime as medic and I still think that some aspects of being a medic are pretty hard to perfect. Being responsible for keeping everyone else alive is pretty damn tough. Your only tool in a firefight is your trusty assault rifle. You have no overshield, no jet pack, no turret and no invisibility. But you are the staple player that keeps your team going. No assault could succeed without a medic, and as long as you are alive none of your teammates are really dead. Keeping everyone else alive is your business, and that also means that keeping yourself alive in order to revive more players is more important than killing enemies. Always stay behind your teammates, close enough to support them and revive them but not so close that you put yourself at too much risk. That being said, you need to throw yourself into the fray every now and then in order to save the day. Don't be afraid of firefights - you wield the best weapons in the game and you can heal yourself with your ability whenever you need it. I use a pretty adaptable list of criteria for when it's time to revive people in a battle. If any two of these three criteria are met, bring out your medtool: 1: No enemies are in your vicinity and/or attacking you directly. 2: You have plenty of allies around able to protect you. 3: You have pretty good cover. No one can shoot you, even if they're trying to. If one or none of these are met, shoot more enemies. Once a battle ends; that is if you can't hear any gunfire and everything seems cool, then go ahead and revive everyone. As for healing people, I only do it in battle if someone is down to minimal health. The equipment you choose makes a huge difference. Nanoweave armor is a given for a beginner - if you can be the last man standing you'll be able to revive everyone, and nanoweave armor will help you do that. Once you have to make the choice between the two grenades, get the revive grenade instead of the healing grenade. In a tight situation being able to revive everyone makes a huge difference. C4 is great in a pinch, but don't get it until you've certed most of the other slots to the max - destroying tanks and killing maxes isn't exactly your role. The medkits are a waste of infantry resources since you can heal yourself with your ability for free. Above all, avoid triage like the plague. I would pump my first 1322 certs into maxing out the medtool, nanoregen device, getting nanoweave armor to level 4 and getting a scope + rail attachment for my assault rifle. The starting assault rifles are great and versatile, so there's no need to get a new one in a hurry. Buy all of the above certs in order of cheapest to most expensive. Then get whatever you want, at this point you'll have a pretty good idea of what it is to be a medic.
