    Hi Guys,

i havn't installed the new Patch because of some downloadploblems, but i'm curious about your opinion ond experience with the new Anti-Hacking tool BattlEye.

    My Questions regarding BattlEye:
Is there any possibility to recognise the moment BattlEye is started. And when does it end it's service? Do i have to rebbot the system or does it shut down at the moment i close PS 2?

My opinion is its working AWESOME! I didn't even think of using /report tonight - there has to be a bunch of losers out there freaking out without their cheats LOL.

As far as your other concerns, I have no idea and I don't know why you would be wondering about that.

I agree BE is an improvment for new player, for average gamer who only have fun.

It´s also an improvement for my gaming experience because I can (sadly not watch there face while they realize) proof to thosewho suppose freuqently if they get killed (for example with Ghost ...) a cheater because they can´t, I guess that´s the reason, accept the fact that the other guy was this time at this place without any cheating - yes it´s that easy- better !!

So it´s no Improvement for, cheater and those "I am the Best", because "that´s the way it have to be". They using yell Chat telling lies and think it´s okay to insult the subject of anger. No way to explain there own failing with BE running in my Opinion.

Some of those rages are kind of funny because they are really creating hillarious "rages" but others, are worse.

They gonna insult your Family and even your dammed fkkk rabit will be called a "*****". They sometimes really stalk other player and tk them every time they see them appering anywhere nearby. The hardest Ragetell was the sentence " I will find you and then I´ll slitting your mothers throat" .... it won´t work proberly because my mother is death but whatever who cares ....

The Reason I asked that question is quite simple: I don't want to have such a programm running, while playing lan-Games with my friends. This might be paranoid but i don't want to have a anti-hacking tool searching for hacks if i play other games.
Thats why i want to find out, at which moment BattleEye starts and finishes it's service.

You can see it in task manager (ctr+shift+esc) services tab.
The Battleye service is called BEservice and seems to stop when Planetside is closed.

I checked that yesterday. It is second process that runs when you run planetside. If you quit the game battleye will end too.

Great, thank you for your help.

    Well, I think it's great.

While my experience is anecdotal, I will say that some notable players and clans don't seem as deadly as before. In particular, my headlong bashes with a VS clan named after a stats site that starts with a D don't seem nearly as deadly as they use to be.

I remember these people running around without a care in the world, mowing people down like crazy, especially in biolabs. Their "sixth sense" is seemingly gone and they seem defanged. Of course, this was just me running into a few of them, but typically they would seemingly know where everyone is at and smack you around with pinpoint accuracy and be dug in like a tick on a mole.

The impression I got yesterday was outside of what I've come to expect from them.

Am I delusional and comfirmationally biasing myself? Maybe. But I have muscle memory from engaging them a lot and the only one that is still deadly from my past and present encountering is that ugly Hawaii person.

    Thank you BE.

As long as I can play, BE is great. Fewer cheaters.

Nothing really concrete - but playing the last few days I have experienced a noticeable drop in "LOL really - WTF!!!" moments.

I seem to be taking lasting much longer when going up against enemies - with very few "ping ping dead" moments. Haven't really been multi-headshot from a great distance by enemies using full auto weapons seems to have dropped off too - they now seem as bad at hitting me as I am at hitting them......which is a nice change.

Wow, lots of confirmation bias in this thread.

Can't say I've seen a great difference yet.
But I think I can cross off most hackusations by lag and lag compensation. Especially the way the game does it.
Have I been 1 shot by weapons that can't do that? Yes. Have people been needing more bullets to kill then they should? Yes.
Have I ran around a corner and then gotten killed by someone I was fleeing from? Yes.

Have I seen enemy Harassers in the warpgate spawn people lifting people up to the ceiling while happily chatting with a GM who was trying to get him banned? No. But to be fair I've only seen that once before.

Anecdotal evidence is pretty much all we have at the moment - it'll take days or weeks of playing to see whether legit players are dying less to people using hacks - or it'll take examining the stats of known or suspected hackers to see if there is a step change in their performance.

To say it is confirmation bias however implies that few if any people were using hacks before battle eye - and the people noticing a difference are merely imagining an improvement.

Given the lack of stats - you can no more state that categorically that either.

I think that's his point. A lot of posts saying how its so much better, yet there hasn't really been any time, stats or even confirmation that its even working. For all we know there is a bug that is keeping BE from reporting back any information. Yet there are threads about how populations are down (even though it was patched on Mon, and Tue/Wed are pretty low pop normally... and the pop graphs don't show a dip) or that certain people are easier to kill, etc. They think there were massive hackers running around so their anecdotal evidence supports their viewpoint. When it's such a small period of time and information that it couldn't possibly do so.

It's all anecdotal and no conclusions can be made on way or the other in this short of a time. All that can be said is that DGB is attempting to do something about it.

Hell, I haven't played since the patch, does that mean i'm a cheater? Or does it mean I never play on patch day and have watched the two World Series games after work instead of playing PS2? It's such a ridiculously small period of time to be making any conclusions, one way or the other.

My opinion on anti-cheat software in general is that so long as it doesn't disrupt my computer or game's normal functioning, I don't care. I don't cheat in video games, so I don't really fear anti-cheating programs. Generally I expect that if there is an issue where my account is mistakenly flagged, an appeal to the game's GMs through the normal system for handling such appeals will clear things up. If that doesn't work, then either I did something that caused me to be banned, or the system isn't working properly to unban the people who get hit inadvertently by faulty anti-cheat software. Either way, it should sort itself out normally. If it's a temporary suspension, then waiting it out and figuring out what went wrong should resolve the issue on my end. If it's a permanent ban, well, whatever, there's always other games to play.

I played a good bit and a I am loving it. In the time i have played i have seen none of the following:

-people who dodge insane amounts of gunfire
-people who dominate entire battles alone
-people who spin around and headshot attackers behind them
-people knowing exactly where I am when flanking
-people who consistantly deal chunk damage
-people returning impossibly accurate gunfire while moving excessively

All of these things I used to see every day I played. I guess it was not just thier mad skills like they liked to claim.
  17. MonnyMoony

Well - people will get a general feeling that things have improved long before there is sufficient evidence to prove it.

Only time will tell whether this is confirmation bias or some sort of placebo effect.

From my perspective - anything that reduces the number of 'LOL really - WTF!!!' moments is a good thing.

I agree a lot of stuff that I was seeing is gone for now at least.

It definitely shows in infitrator play. You can play now and enjoy it stalker cloak is now awesome. Before it seemed like everyone and their grandmothers could see you in deep cloak from miles away or knew where you are without any spotters. It just proves how many people used so called subtle cheats, toggable i guess like wallhacke etc., to get that edge.i just hope it stays this way cause i'm enjoying my stalker setup like never before :)

I would like to know if the people running PS2 via WINE (Linux) are having issues with BattleEye
