Come on man, don't be obtuse. You know driver settings are perfectly fine. They're DRIVER SETTINGS.

I don't like it when people get banned unfairly, but I'm sick of cheaters. Even when they're not around, just causing everyone to second guess the legitimacy of everything is enough damage in itself.

Cheaters will do anything to get unbanned. Especially cheaters who have built a whole persona about how badass they supposedly are in the online gaming world. Their whole little self esteem is tied up in it.

Everyone should note that we are taking into account SOE's hacker history here. They have been hilariously incompetent in the past, and we aren't going to assume they have magically gotten better without some pretty extensive evidence.

    Your reputation means nothing.

I know who you're on about - I posted extensively in the General Tech Support thread about why their posts meant jack ****. They offered NO EVIDENCE at all proving they were falsely banned. It was all crocodile tears, arrogance, ******** videos and nothing to show for it.
When they finally go as far as to actually screenshot their ban and post it I might take their crying seriously. As far as I'm concerned, I've seen prominent and reputable community members torn down for hacking and the likes before, and I don't see these people as any different. Guilty until they prove themselves innocent.

I'm sorry I'm not a 10 year PS vet, it doesn't mean I'm ******* stupid. TF & Friends here can **** off with their arrogance.

I feel for the OP's friends, and hope there is a person or contact at SOE they can approach to have their cases looked at, if they aren't at fault. I have reported some people myself, and was disappointed that they didn't allow for a description. In other games I could write:

/report randomperson was headshotted instantly repeatedly blah blah

But in PS2 I can only report their username and hope for the best. There were times when I wasn't sure if people were hacking or not, and reported them, trusting that SOE would use due process. Hopefully it works out for your friends, perhaps they can get off with a "warning" if they were using FOV fixes or something else relatively harmless and didn't get the memo...

It still doesn't help anyone if people start an uprising here. I'm not employed by SOE, but I'm pretty sure the forum mods have nothing to do with the banning process. And it's also a little funny that one day ago everyone wanted to burn people alive if they were just supsected of cheating and now suddenly it's too drastic to ban someone just because they were apparently reported by hundreds of customers.
And don't get me wrong, I don't know the four guys and and I don't really care about them personally nor do I want to judge them based on "waaaaargh" and "boohoo" threads.

Yet you are swallowing SOE's recommendation that the 4 players who were banned hook, line and sinker, as if they can't be wrong, which they are. Because you are endorsing such incompetence so wholeheartedly its amazing that SOE haven't hired you to work there already. (or are you already working there?).

I don't like people who get banned unfairly either and this is exactly what has happened in this case.

    SOE = The Messiah?

More attention means that it's more likely to be seen by someone that can handle it though.

The intent is to have SOE review and take more precautions when banning players. I'm sure they have some set of requirements in order to ban (at least I hope so), but everything can be improved. This is an example of something that needs tweaking.
  9. Cyridius

    Banned unfairly according to?
  10. NOX2097

Someone needs to call the shots. If you disagree with SOE doing it, who would you rather be in charge?
  11. Sock

That's the problem. It IS too drastic to ban players simply because they get reported often. SOE did it in PS1 and they've done it again.
  12. daskleineviech

Companies don't really work that way. No matter how important PR is, the best way to approach any form of problem is awlays customer support, even if you have to ask for the manager ten times.
And what kind of message is this anyway? "Ban everyone who is suspicious except the guys I like?" Last I checked I didn't have access to the server backend, but everyone else here clearly has.
  13. Telebot

Maybe they were banned for exploiting some in-game bug?

I myself also get accused of being a cheater in CoD, BF3 and CS, so I know the feeling. However I kinda doubt that a GM would ban someone based on a player report. It's more than likely your friends were abusing some in-game bug, now why they did it I don't know, maybe they thought it was cute, or funny, since some bugs are pretty darn hilarious. But just because they were banned, does not mean it was because they used some hack.

Also I would like to ask, isn't accusing SOE of banning people without any proof the same as reporting someone for hacking when you have no proof? In both cases people make assumptions based on no hard evidence. So you shouldn't do it.
  14. Cyridius

    HOW DO YOU KNOW?
HOW IN **** DO YOU KNOW?
How is it you all magically know why they were banned?
"Oh look, someone is banned, they wont show me SOE's reasoning for banning them despite people asking for it repeatedly, so I'll take their word for it that it was mass reporting!"

    Seems ******* legit doesn't it.

SOE incorrectly banned several players in PS1 and later reinstated the accounts. Are there assumptions being made? Sure, but they're pretty well founded.

I'm pretty sure there was more research done before banning the players NoXousX. There is an interview with Matt Higby by Itmejp on YouTube and he asks him about hackers and he explains the process that they look at things like Kills Per Minute, Player Reports and actively monitoring the players gameplay, alongside Anti-Hacking systems and other systems.

If SOE and the GMs ban people solely on player reports then what's stopping the larger Outfits falsely accusing someone they dislike, for whatever reason, to get them banned.
  17. Saiph

This is the problem. There is nothing stopping it. For all we know they have a threshold set so that someone who is completely ruining a fight by hacking will be auto banned if reported too many times. It's a band-aid solution.
  18. crissHill

Please. Why do you feel so special for playing a game for 8 years? I have played SoE games since the late 90s and can safely say that I trust SoE about 150000 times more than I trust your word.

You elevate your judgment above the people's that are doing it for a living. You most likely don't have a slightest clue to the reasoning to any of the "mistakes" SoE has made in the past.

Play a game for 8 years -> bad mouth the developer, how about a change in attitude?

As much as I'd like to see mass executions of those who hack, I'm much more willing to trust known members of the community against those here who seem to care not at all.

    Pointless thread is pointless

Only people who know for a fact if any cheating took place are SOE and the accused ..

They are innocent why ? Because they say they are ? Quick FK me empty the prisons they are full of innocent people .. cus every **** say's they are innocent.

They might be innocent, they might not be .. but since we personally will never know the real details threads such as this are moot.

Edit: BTW Planetside 1 had hacker's .. Maybe some of them came to PS2 and just now got caught :p
