No. I know some people just can't comprehend how people could do poorly at a game but really, this is simply not true, else the average KD would not be less than 1.
I run with Recursion State Tracker (go check it out) so i can see the KD of the players i am killing in a nice long list. The VAST majority of players are below a 1 kd, with maybe 10% being around a 1. There are a handful of 2+s, and every so often a 4+.
that XVM mod is how you can tell if a player is good or not...it is a bit rigged in some spots, but it gives the best outlook on the players. When you log in and see 9 reds with efficienies that added together dont equal your child's shoesize, you know you will lose and those players will most certainly SUCk....
Let me partake in this forbidden ritual, since it has began... I am not one to shy away from blasphemy... Almost all the people holding a KD higher than ~3 that I have seen on the Stats pages, have been using methods, weapons and means that are in no way even remotely associated with the word "Skill". Some of those who don't, cheat. Others, are actually SKILLED... And others have been VERY LUCKY(!? Just have to include that too, you never know); These, in order of rarity and likelihood. But as I said, most just cheese it out no end and call it "Skill". In a way it actually is. It's a matter of perspective and what satisfies your Ego, and even how easy you go on your own Self about such things. The KD we got is nothing, it's just raw Kills versus Deaths, no matter how, why or when nor against whom or where. KD calculated the right way would be usefull as part of "Performance" which is what we should be paying attention to. But the Stats page is in BETA still and such a thing as "Performance" of a player is not going to be easy to calculate properly. Too much information would be required. IMHO a person should be doing OK if they score at least 1 K before each D, no matter what ;P Well, according to some "Pros" out there I'm "Bad bad bad!" in many regards(Including connection quality, PC quality and my own quality) so I'll leave this discussion to the totally legitimate and qualified Specialists among us, whose variety of weapons, Classes and vehicles used is limited to half a hand's count. In case you're wondering you can always check my Stats page by the by. Dem Pros will tell ya all you need to know about KD because both Snow and I, know nothing. Nothing at all.
K/D can be so easily padded - it's close to meaningless. If you play support roles primarily - you could have a low K/D yet be invaluable to your team (engie repairing a max - or medic reviving team mates). Same if you are a kamikazze type. I often suicide when C4ing difficult tanks because IMO its better for the team for me to suicide but guarantee a kill on the tank - than for me to try and escape first and be killed before I can detonate - even though I could in theory get a few more infantry kills if I did manage to get away. Farming from a lib or MBT gunner seat can get your K/D quite high but involve little skill.
K/D is not too important, a good player should still be well above 2 though. The real metric is weapons accuracy. If you find an infantry player with high accuracy, about 25%+ accuracy on auto weapons, he's likely to be deadly. IMO, 25%+ accuracy on auto/burst weapons signifies an elite level infantry player. Of course even accuracy can be a flawed number, some people do suppressive fire, or are willing to take potshots beyond the effective range of their weapons.
Planetside 2 is the only game where i'm getting a k/d above 2. Most games its 1:1 and i assume its because i play more cautiously, not PTFO often as i like, making suicidal charges and joining zergs and outfits where i have large numbers to cover the angles. Whilst k/d is just a number, being a stat *****, K/D torments me.
Average K/D among other things shouldn't even be a stat that is tracked in a team based combined arms game. Especially when its real easy to get high stats in certain areas by using certain tactics, which in no way reflects any real skill.
Average KDR doesn't mean too much. There are lots of different factors that affect it besides skill. Example do you like to zerg farm spawns or do you fight against organized enemy platoons. The same person would have very different KDR outcomes for this alone.
So am I above average or below average!? lol I don't run in squads, nor an outfit, zero players on FL. I can be pretty reckless, was a P-90 rusher in CSS 24/7 lol I see little revives. Also reviving at an NC sundy is like saying I want to die on spawn or have -750 HP Does anyone care? Nope.
Seems like a question you should be asking Higby. He knows how often NC honk their horns, he should know average KDR
no because each medic res counts as a new life in terms of the game, so actually the average KD is slightly bellow 1 because of suicides.
Will vary **wildly** depending on which class you play. If I play assault classes my KD is between 1.5 and 4. If I play medic or engie my KD is between 0.75 and 1.5 If I play as a Platoon Leader my KD listed above drops by 1/2 or more. Don't worry about KD. It will make you...worry.
if we are going roll specific, then i have been getting 20,000 to 30,000xp runs in my skyguard on a regular basis while my heavy assault tank hunter dies a lot approaching armor columns. i still do plenty of damage as my heavy and definitely think what i do helps the team, but my skyguard is the majority of what keeps my KD afloat.
Don't let people kid you about the different kinds of K/D people get, whether lib gunning, max farming, tanking, infantry etc. The only K/D that matters is your burst variant of carbines and AR's.
Ditto. People worrying about their precious K/D is what costs territory. "I'm gonna hide in the spawn room and take potshots and NOT GET ON THE DAMN POINT because heaven forbid my K/D falls below a 2." At which point they get a burst-fired Jackhammer to the back of the head.
