Are 1k Cert Weapons Worth It?

My philosophy is no single weapon is worth 1000 certs, as there are so many other things you need that can only be had with certs.
Either shell out the Station Cash or live without it, I say.

What would you use to upgrade your shiny new weapon?... the 1000 certs you no longer have?

Rocket pods are a secondary weapon that fills an empty slot.

Most vehicle secondary weapons are all better than the default.

The system is designed to force you to pay to win.

Except you don't need those to perform your duties as an ESF pilot 100%.

Liberator belly guns would have been a better argument. Try again.

Except your stock guns are better.

Also the HEAT tank rounds are better.

So no, it's not pay to win.

I'd only consider those cheapest 100-250c inf weapons and even those after thorough trialing, 1K is simply too much.

Didn't read the whole thread so this may be covered, but if you are looking to get your certs back, you are better off with some of the upgrades, like the medic gun, ammo kit, etc. Those throw off certs like crazy. Extra guns might be fun but just won't get you that many kills (and therefore certs) that you wouldn't have gotten anyway. Possible exception would be a bolt action if you are a good sniper.

There's nothing that'll "pay its price back" since the upgrades tend to be fairly minimal. But certs aren't like money (you have no other use for them), it's not a question of whether you should spend them or not. The decision is what to spend them on. For me, 1000 certs on my VX6-7 plus adv laser sight and HS/NV scope was totally worth it.

This might be true for the guns but it isn't true for the tool upgrades. The medic gun being a great example. Without upgrades you can't revive maxes at all, and your regular upgrades are very slow (including time spent healing them after the revive). With the upgrades in a big battle you can be reviving constantly for multiple certs per minute in a hot battle zone. Likewise the lifetime of the ammo pack goes way up. You can drop ammo in a busy area and go play somewhere else, getting lots of passive XP for several minutes.

if you live near a Wal-Mart go there and pick up a 15 dollar SOE card. Usually found near the PC titles in a wire rack.

You get 20 dollars worth of certs for the 15 dollar card bought at Wal-Mart. I personally find 1k certs worth a lot more than 7 dollars.

Get the Wal Mart card but also wait for 2x or 3x SC day. Then you will get $40 or $60 worth of SC for $15. Now be patient wait for half price day at the depot for the item(s) you want. That's $80 or $120 worth of SC for $15. Should be plenty.

I definitely understand not wanting to get sucked into paying a lot of money in a "free" to play game, but for $15 (or even $30 if you buy two cards) is a reasonable amount to pay for a game. Spend the SC wisely and you probably never need to spend another dime for the life of this game.

cant wait for the next double station cash day, still sitting on 3 1500+500 station cash cards (I had 4 but I spurged to get the new smg and the tigernator bundle).

I'm currently waiting for the 3x sale but I really want a new weapon already. Haven't bought any infantry weapons, only everything else on the past $75 that I have spent.

What should I go for?

I play mostly LA and Engie.

Shotty?
New SMG?
Carbine?

In other what ONE weapon is worth 1,000 certs?

Most 1k cert infantry weapons are not worth it. Either buy them with SC or don't buy them at all. Those certs would do you much better if spent on actual upgrades to you abilities.

For LA and E, maybe (big maybe) a shotty or SMG. I definitely would not buy another carbine because you already have one and the differences are minor.

Uhhh.... It is to encourage you to spend money. They have to pay for servers/development somehow. You can still have a decent experience without buying any weapons.

Guns usable by multiple classes are worth 1000 certs but weapons only usable by 1 should only cost 500 certs at most.

That is what cosmetic items should be for.

I saved for the Parallax, got to about 400 certs and decided to get an XM98 and a few cert upgrades.

Now I'm saving for the Lasher. Is it worth it?
