    If so is it decent?

Lol you gotta be sh*tting me. Enjoy your 10 million dollar phone bill.
  3. Kimble

    I have free unlimited data.

Its just that last time my old phone overheated playing ps2..i got a new note II..dont want to mess my phone up.

Keep in mind that the signalling gear in your phone generates heat, and it's not designed to be a permanent high bandwidth data transmission fixture. You're better off checking out the technology special of your phone for more detailed information on its radio transmitters duty cycle.

I would assume inevitably you're going to have connection drop outs when the phone goes into cool down mode to protect its transmission gear.

I would personally be looking for a dedicated 4G modem to put your sim card in that's actually made for handling constant high bandwidth traffic.

This sounds like a great idea. It also sounds kind of technical but I will have to look into it tomorrow. I do not want to fry my brand new 600 dollar phone..so I like the idea of a dedicated modem if it can be done.

I have to do something soon because I will be here for awhile and I really want to play! :(

Looks like I am screwed. When I play through my phone it is 100% free. If I move to some modem that I buy through verizon it is 5 gig max a month then outrageous fees if I go over. They treat it as a completly different service.

Looks like I'm done playing Planetside, which sucks because its my favorite game if I had a good connection.

Also unlimited connection is capped, it's just over what phone service providers would call "reasonable amount of data". Like my phone is unlimited texting, unless I send over 3000 a month.

^ The above is true, although there used to be a mobile company in my country that used to allow true unlimited data. My brother used to use his phone tethered to his xbox and computer to play games, also the place he lived in meant he could only get 3G. He'd rack up like over 100GB+ monthly data usage, so I'm guessing when they meant unlimited they really meant it.

Sad to hear that you wont be able to do the same anymore.

Iv played with my phone. Worked great. Played for several hours with no issues at all. Contrary to some peoples opinions, your phone will not overheat itself just from data connection. Its not a self destruct feature.

Also contrary to popular opinion, you will not use gigabytes of data per session. Gaming does not take THAT much data. Way more than internet browsing yea, but its not as intensive as downloading acctually videos.

Just try it out, it literally wont hurt a tthing. I can spout technical jargon and pretentious to know a lot more than I do aswell but the simple truth is, with unlimited data, trying wont hurt a thing. As long as you are stationary and not jumping cell towers, your connection should stay pretty stable but any hiccup and you might need to religion from time to time.

Try it out and good luck :)

    100-120gb a month is prety tiny. :|
My data usage reset a day or two ago and it's already at 12gigs used... Well, it doesn't count today, so that was just 1 day...

    Date Range:08/07/2013-08/08/2013
    Usage Allowance (GB):350.00
    Usage Consumed (GB):12.18
    Excess Usage (GB):0.00
    Percent Used (%):3%

It's true though, gaming doesn't take too much(unless you have to DL 10gigs to try the test server, which I had to DL that much 2-3x now or play any other game and have to DL it). This data limit is pure crap though.

Like the guy prior to my post, try it out.. Don't think it'll fry your phone.

Well considering that my personal mobile data limit for my monthly phone plan is only 1GB, and 'unlimited' data is 10GB at most where I live, 100-120ish GB a month is a fair bit.

I played no problem on LTE, it was just as fast as my cable connection, and took like 20-30MBs for like a 2 hour session. Yeah you don't want to do big updates, but if your all updated and much like my self, you find your home internet connection having issues, it's a very easy option to implement with most current smart phones.

Depends on how much is going on, the more internet it uses, the hotter it gets. Stick it near an air conditioner, or a fan. Or make a ghetto AC with some ice in front of the fan.
  14. IonCannons

Not gonna work even with your unlimited plan they'll start capping and also someone mentioned even todays smartphones aren't built to handle doing something like this for hours and hours.

Should work fine. Not had problems with multi hour sessions at lest, though I should point out avoiding voice coms is a good idea. Sudden changes in BW requirements are prone to latency spikes, and TS/Mumble/Ingame generate that in abundance. Use Skype if you have to, due to its more linear requirement.

But as always dependent on your provider.

I manage multiple hours just fine with mine, but if heat is a problem make sure the device is placed somewhere with good reception. The better the reception, the less power (and thus heat) it needs to spend.

Ironically, I played on my Samsung Galaxy S4 yesterday...on a 4gLTE (10mbps) connection....connected to my Desktop computer...it was awesome!!! phone did get hot so i will put it maybe on a ice pack tonight...just wondering how much data I used in a 20 min round of playing...will prob try to push it a little more tonight....
  17. Messaiga

Wait how does somebody play PS2 from their phone? Sounds interesting, it would be awesome to have PS2 wherever I go.

You tether your pc or laptop to your smartphone and run off it's 3 or 4G connection.

I personally think the idea is silly because you're going wireless but as we can see some people in here swear by it.
  20. Messaiga

Eh, I'd do it if I weren't at my computer but otherwise I think it would be silly.
