Actually it's a very consistent weapon, it's just very particular about how you handle it. It really doesn't have any unpredictable behavioral quirks. Here are some things that are in my opinion important to know about the NC6 Gauss SAW (I have over 2k kills with it). Please note that these are just my observations based on my own experiences, others may disagree with my opinions. 1. The height of first shot recoil. First shot recoil is not controllable; the farther away an enemy is, the lower your first shot needs to be aimed in order for the second shot to jump to the head. The distance past which the enemy appears to be shorter than the height of first-shot recoil is the distance you need to fire only one round at a time. It's not hard to do at only 500 rounds per minute. At mid-range aim for the hips or chest, let the recoil take the rounds up to the head and either a) try to control the recoil by pulling the mouse down and continuing the burst or b) end the burst, wait for the recoil to reset and start another burst. At around 20 just aim between the shoulders, let first shot recoil take your aim to the head, and then fire until the target is dead. At point blank hipfire. 2. The amount of time it takes for recoil to reset. This is the key to winning those long range engagements - don't try to control the recoil at long range, it'll just make the weapon kick more side-to-side. Instead shoot at their feet, hold the burst until it travels up to their head, stop firing, and then burst again as soon as the recoil resets. The individual bursts should be very close together with almost no time between them (literally just enough time to let the recoil reset), otherwise you'll be out DPSed. Depending on the range you should be able to get 3-5 bullets to hit per burst. 3. The more you try to fight the recoil, the more the horizontal recoil kicks in, especially if you fight the recoil early in the burst. Shoot the SAW at a wall some time without trying to control the recoil. You'll see the bullet hit marks will go straight up the wall with almost no horizontal variation. 4. Laser sight with no compensator for close to mid range battles. The recoil just really isn't a factor at 30m in. Being able to hipfire while strafing is the key to beating enemies at point blank, and while you're still at a disadvantage against the CARV damage wise at hipfire range, you have a much better chance of winning against most enemies with a laser sight and no compensator. If I'm in a situation where long to mid range engagements will predominate I'll switch to compensator and foregrip. Also if you know you're going to have to go head-to-head with TR heavies in CQB just take a Jackhammer. There is no LMG in the NC arsenal that has the stopping power to keep up with the TR equipment. tl;dr Learn what ranges you should hip fire, continuous fire ADS, and burst fire ADS; aim low with the first shot to compensate for first shot recoil, how low is dependent on range; control your bursts; control recoil at close to mid range, let it carry the burst to the head at mid to long; learn to hip fire effectively. Once again, just my observations. -made some edits to make some points clearer
the god saw is a great gun, i am normally a TR soldier, but i have an NC charcter on matherson that i have been playing more and more lately. i have used the T9 carv, and the carvs, and the TMG 50, as well as the orion on my other account and the flare (providing background so my opinion isnt scoffed at) the god saw is very good if you have the patience to use it, i personally like using a supressor so you can take your time killing each enemy instead of worrying about getting caught. it has vertical recoil mostly, but it can deviate alot if you try to aim elsewhere while using full auto, its hipfire is horrid, but if you damage an enemy and shoot from the hip, you will probably kill them
I don't like it. It's accuracy is horrible compared to some of the other LMGs can you pick up and its fire rate is too slow to be useful in CQB.
After Auraxiuming most LMGs, I don't like it. I maybe would take it over NS-15M, but then, I would take Warden over that. And it's called "anything but NC6 Gauss Saw"
I used to dislike it, and I still think it's a poor starter gun, but I've come to enjoy it a lot more. Having said that calling it the "God Saw" is a silly label, as mentioned earlier it's good at what it does but mediocre to poor in any type of mobile close quarter combat, which is what a lot of combat revolves around.
I don't like it, I think whenever I use it I feel like I'm carrying around a gun which takes up quite a lot of space on my screen (I've not got the biggest of monitors). Also, when I shoot it just tends to go a bit all over the place. I'm also a very CQC person but I love switching to the medium range, so I get the best out of both worlds with my beloved anchor. <3
Bad players complain that it's god mode. Bad players complain that it's bad (because they haven't certed it.) Good players know it's basically no better or worse than any other long-ranged LMG (and like those other long-ranged LMGs, the Gauss SAW is sub-par at short range.)
The Gauss Saw is great if you can get the enemy to stand still within 20 meters of you, other than that the recoil is too much. Even with the advanced forward grip & compensator it's too unstable. For medium range combat I use the EM6 for close up stuff the cyclone with soft point ammo.
I'll even add this to show how lame the SAW is. All of you should pay attn to what your opponet used to kill you. So the next time your in a heated battle with the NC, take note of how many times you are killed by this god weapon by players lvl30 and above. You wont find it on any of them. If you die by this weapon, its prolly by some fly by night newb at lvl 1-5 with no other options. It was prolly made by the same crew that made the garbage for all of TRs LMGs
Bad players(TR and VS) complain that it's god mode. Bad players(NC) listen to bad TR and VS players QQ and think they are abusing an OP god mode item. Good players know it's crap and any other NC LMG is preferable for mid/long. fixed.
I'll let you in on a special secret. Some VS and TR guns get the NC's super duper 2x headshot damage multiplier. It also turns out that NC heads aren't armored. Plus if you double the DPS of two things the one with higher DPS will still have higher DPS after doubling.
Where is that dude with that snazzy 'TR is fart' signature? He'd right all your poor sods' wrong preconceptions about the tools of FREEDOM pretty quick.
