Seems to be a trend on the rise, as of late. Heavy Assault spam AV grenades into buildings (regardless of MAX units present or not) due to a wider blast radius, which seems to kill anything that is touched by the blast radius. Not sure if it's a bug, working as intended or whatnot. While I think it's great that we have AV grenades for that class to combat MAX units. I feel that it is being exploited as an anti infantry grenade that yields a higher effective kill count vs infantry than the standard frag grenades.
In groups they sure can. (mainly a Heavy assault player) the outer area of a frag grenade is 6.5m; the AV grenade has a higher range (uhh 10m?) -> In groups, AV grenade is superior to toss into a room: damage enemies, with the bonus of being far more painfull to maxes; the most dangerous thing inside the room. (the elephant in the room is you've got to kill the maxes ) On of my most decent killstreaks was tossing an AV grenade down a hallway, run 10m to sundy, resupply, repeat. I personally have no issues with tweaking the grenades, say giving a frag grenade a range of 8m/whatever, and reducing AV grenade to 8m too. Or even downright nerfing AV grenades to 6.5m too. (Hilariously enough, despite the low damage, an AV grenade atm has twice the damage range of a 150mm HE shell. Area of effect scales with radius squared, so the actual area of effect of AV grenades atm is 4 times larger than a 150mm HE shell. (or a 120mm shell, or a 100mm, or the sunderer 60mm mortar..) in return for buffing the AV grenade vs Vehicles. (a sticky effect; this would make them work vs Maxes too; alternatively: explode-on-contact; this would make AV grenades quite powerfull vs Maxes. However: imagine explode-on-contact AV grenades when combined with the grenade bandolier.. i have been killed by anti vehicle grenades before they do kill infantry and i believe they do the same damage of a normal grenade i do see them sometimes and no i don't think they are exploited the anti vehicle grenades do have a greater animation explosion with the blue electric lights but do no more damage i can be wrong here like i said i see them sometimes
Anti-vehicle grenades do 750 damage at most to infantry without any Flak Armor. AV grenades deal damage in a larger radius than standard frags (750 @ 2.5m - 1 @ 10m) vs (1275 @ 1m - 1 @ 6.5m) A frag grenade 5m away from a target will actually do less damage than an AV grenade...and FAR less damage if the victim was in a max suit.
My suggestion: They become magnetic, they stick to nearby vehicles and MAXes in a 15m radius, otherwise they don't explode at all, unexploded AV grenades can be recovered. Damage becomes 1000 true damage (like C4), negates any kind of armor (flak, vehicle armor, composite, etc.), they lose the AOE. So they become specialized AV grenades like they are supposed to be.
