Another way to make the phoenix better (without OPness)

    Bodyshot = NOT OHK
    Headshot= OHK

    I have always wondered why a dinky little bolt action sniper bullet hitting someone in the head will kill them, but not a GODDAM ANTI-VEHICULAR GUIDED ROCKET.

    The thing isnt easy to aim with so i think this is a pretty fair change

    Are you aware how hard it is to headshot a moving infantry with a phoenix?

    I would approve of this.

    The Phoenix is slow, sluggish and has low enough distance that it wouldn't be too much. It's 10x easier to one hit infantry with a sniper anyway..... if they aren't wearing nano, flak would offer the same protection in this scenario

    Being NC doesn't make be biased at all :p

    And the phoenix doesnt stabilize itself mid-air. I play TR/NC/VS and i wouldn't mind this at all

    If someone was skilled enough to hit my head, he deserves the kill

    I just want a range increase. 400m perhaps. Damage is fine IMO, and it is still nice for softening maxs as is.

    As someone suggested the other day the phoenix would be a lot better if it didnt despawn after 300m. Just make it continue onwards but on a dumb fire trajectory. Another potential addition would be a faster velocity. Many of the people that dislike it do so because they are standing in the open for way to long when the range is so short.

    It would be extremely easy to make it very OP though.

    Yeah that would be nice too.
    I'd prefer if you could control the velocity because more speed = less ability to turn

    i just had my opinion on the phoenix boosted a little bit!

    i was playing my max and was killed by a lolpodder so i vowed vengeance!
    i spawned my skywhale in an attempt to smash him but another scythe came along and they slowly chipped away at my hp,
    so i pulled out my heavy and decided to give phoenix a go (with munition belt for extra rockets).
    miss, miss, miss, miss "ONLY ONE SHOT LEFT!" here goes! *flying towards him*... I GET KILLED BY A MAGRIDER...
    "dammit this sucks!" *respawn* [You killed (enter lolpodder name here)] "OH!" :D

    Doesn't really matter how hard it is, because this game isn't a collection of 1 vs 1s. Take any base fight with any kind of chokepoint or busy area in it, then add a group of HA just spamming Phoenixes into it. We had that situation once before and it single handedly ruined infantry combat.

    It's the one rocket you never have to stand in the open to use--have no idea why so many players willingly make themselves sniper bait.

    Because of balance. This is a game so balance is always more important than real life accuracy. The Phoenix was a one hit kill when it first came out and it was insanely OP.

    If there is a group of HA spamming it into a hallway, the effect will be the same. It only takes 2 hits to kill someone.

    With that said, I would prefer buffs/fixes that increase its AV power, rather than adding AI. Simple stuff like allowing me my full FOV would be nice (I've forgotten the trigonometry to prove it, but to see an enemy vehicle on screen and be able to lead to it if its travelling perpendicular to travel, it needs to be doing less than about 10mph. That's a ******* joke.)... Making the rocket fly straight after 300m... Or even extending the guidance.... Giving me control over the speed too would be cool (a brake would be nice, but so would a massive booster to actually chase vehicles)


    Because you can only obscure yourself from the target you're shooting. You can't shoot from behind cover as the rocket is not manoeuvrable enough, all you can do is shoot from behind an obstacle, and a shallow one at that.

    Wherever I can stand to hit a target 200m away, the obstacle that's obscuring me from it will leave at least 180 degrees of me targetable, but far more likely about 315 degrees or more... As in the previous quote, the game isn't 1v1.

    We're talking about headshots, not fly the missile anywhere within 3m of the target, as was at launch. I have barely used my Phoenix (certainly not once to shoot infantry) since the nerf, gaining around 30 more kills with it than I had before the nerf. I have 550 kills with it on only one of my characters. Guess how many headshots? 0.
