Another Day, Another Dozen Subscribing Matterson Players Walking Away

When did I say anything about being the best at taking territory under Hex? It was a matter of being the best at taking territory as a whole. You ought to quit speaking of TEST, as if you were the only outfit able to accomplish anything on your own. Frankly, you guys weren't capable of doing anything solo, as the VS simply could not function without combining all of their efforts. The #YOLO into a single territory was a by product of what the game had become.

The Enclave did play the game as it was, but it wasn't going any where. The drive to play the game repeatedly each day, got old. Who gives a damn if you take territory? What does it matter? Spend 2 hours having a bad *** fight over a base and you win. Only to have that taken away 2 hours later when your faction loses half of its force multiplier? There is no driving force behind Planetside 2. None.

As EliteEskimo kindly points out, zerging throughout the night and capping continents with little to no resistance is hardly anything worthy of praise. From controlling most of the continent, VS were pushed back to their final few bases every single day. Yet were barely able to hold on before people had to start logging off. Regaining that territory during the night when the pops were unbalanced again was a VS specialty. Without night ghost cap fests, VS would have never held any territory for a significant amount of time.

TE did work with other outfits. However, even while TE took on the brunt of the enemy, those other outfits failed to do anything significant with the advantage they gained from facing a drained enemy force focusing efforts on TE's current location. I wasn't in those outfits, so I don't know what the disconnect was there. But it certainly points out the inherent difference in the level of efficiency between TR outfits.

I still think a MASSIVE XP boost the underpoped faction would fix it. (massive as in, 200%)
It would at least make it so people would actually stay and tough it out. That massive bonus surely would sway others to join up to balance it out (which will lower the xp bonus amount considerably)
Moreso than the laughable 8% xp boosts I see when we are underpopped and getting steamrolled. That'll surely help balance things out!

I commend you and the fellow VS who are trying to be part of the solution- if only there were more players like you!

I think I will create a TR on Mattherson so I can help- there are signs my home server is getting better balance by the day, yesterday it was 31-34-35 for quite some time so perhaps I will throw myself at the hordes alongside you. My only regret is that I will not have JJ lvl6.

If the supposed "organized ones" and their zergfits had one milli-ounce of strategic thought rolling around in their brains, if you are outnumbered 2:1 it's a waste of time to do alerts and is actually counterproductive.
  5. LibertyRevolution

The faction with the lowest pop is always the one that gets attacked.
Why would you fight against the faction that out popped you, that would be a horrible tactical decision.

Why would anyone expect the 2 lower pop factions to work together to attack the higher pop one, that makes no sense.
The guys on the other low pop faction are worth just as many points to kill as the guys that outnumber you 5:1..

Merge Waterson and Mattherson. Waterson has plenty of NC/TR, we need VS, Mattherson is the exact opposite.
"But there will be ques at primetime".. That would be a good thing, maybe you should subscribe if you don't like waiting in line.
  6. TriumphOfMan

As long as what TEST wanted to do was being awful and getting farmed by everyone, yep, I can agree with that.

Let's face it Roy, TEST was an awful outfit if you wanted to win fights. Why do you think ArcFault ditched you guys to play with us?

As someone who enjoys playing an FPS to actually shoot things and not just temporarily switch colors on a map, TR Mattherson is one of the most enjoyable factions to play right now. If you're bailing on these fights, it's safe to assume you're bad bad bad.

As a GOON at that time, I must say that BCP was #1 at losing major facilities just to drop 2 platoons on two squads of GOONs on another continent.

The TR always did much better in the 6 or so hour block leading up to TE's ops time than they ever did during the ops

Also this. TR is just about tied with NC for "most fun faction to play" in my book, and would probably win if they had more heavy hitting guns. That the VS maintain the pop they do despite having boring, ****** guns I'll never understand.
  9. DQCraze

I picked VS for lore reasons, now I just like hanging out with friends. Guns and all that stuff are secondary to my lib.
  10. CrashB111

I believe I made your statement more factual now.

And don't act like the devs haven't been favoring VS the majority of this games lifespan, at the very beginning you had the unbeatable Magrider that strafed faster than enemy tank rounds traveled. Then the NC held the advantage with their instant gibbing ScatMAX hordes. After that the balance hammer swung back into VS hands for the longest period of any faction in this game with the rise of ZOE spam.

I really shouldn't give away this secret, but... Mao is actually where they manufacture the tightest, stretchiest spandex.

My TR is now BR23 or so.

When I'm on my VS, I fight TR so I don't have to deal with Vanguards. So there's that.

You know, now that I think about it all my best FREEDOM EAGLE combat speedos were produced at Mao

It makes perfect sense during alerts: since the most populated faction will capture and hold more facilities, the least populated factions should attempt to fight for those, which would prevent the over-populated faction from dominating the alert.

Sadly, too many players follow a similar logic as the one you describe and indeed go fight against the least populated faction, giving the over-populated faction a dominating victory.

I exclusively play NC and I do from time to time use order and region chats to tell people to leave the TR-controlled facilities alone, at least until they become a significant factor in the outcome of an ongoing alert.

Note that Mattherson has seen a number of alerts ending in a draw for all three factions (those "capture and hold these three facilities on this continent"-type alerts) despite the population imbalance. In such events, we usually send congrats yells to the TR.

bottom feeding: a bad habit MMORPG players have brought to this game.

And the only solution is the PS1 AMS, PS1 mines, PS1 spitfires, PS1 motion detectors. You can yell at them all day long in chat, but won't change anything.

Bottomfeeders, like medics, aren't on their best game. That would really make the PS1 AMS/CE effective against their hordes of not-quite-there-but-at-the-keyboard players.

Welcome to PS1, after the CUD-tools wrecked that game by canceling out the PS1 AMS/CE. Why else do you think the population dropped like a rock after a year or two.

"Buff AV! Buff AV! Buff AV! Buff AV!"

Why? Did AV weapons all of a sudden get weaker? Or maybe every time someone deploys an AMS, it gets OS'ed. Maybe the problem isn't that AV suddenly got weaker, but infantry no longer have a good spawn point and the EMP blast keeps destroying every damn mine within a 200 meter freaking radius.
  16. Negator

damnit crash, its negative nancies like you that destroy TR morale. Youre the one that went on in platoon chat about no bullet drop being OP.
  17. Keyski

The only reason NC and VS pops bounced back is because servers got merged in an attempt to balance the populations.
Are you to suggest the underpopped factions just quit the game until the last two east coast servers merge into one?

What is to happen when the next underpopped faction starts getting teamed up and warpgated? Should they 'take a break' until the next server merg--ohwait. No one will be playing by then.
  18. GoEErs

Yes. Hang in there. A lot of the people I play with on Briggs are banding together to aid the TR on Mattherson. I created my character but didn't have time to get in game. That will not be the case tonight and I am hopeful we can at least field a full squad of VETS and start ripping some $%^&*. We will be there and we will fight for I am a soldier, I fight where I am told, and I WIN WHERE I FIGHT. Semper Fi.
  19. RoyAwesome

Dunno man, Arcfault ditched you guys too to fly around and not take part in the ground game.
  20. RoyAwesome

I'm actually surprised you guys had a hard time doing anything considering the striker spam killing every vehicle in a 300 meter radius. I mean your missiles flew through terrain (something that wasn't fixed until yesterday).
