Bear with me, I haven't slept in like 48 hours and my brain has gone into imagination drive with all the coffee I'm inhaling to stay alive Anyway, as I hope most of you will agree with, automatic guns are boring as hell. They all do the same thing, shoot bullets at target until target is dead. They may do it at different speeds, controllability, and range, but in essense it's just putting the crosshair on the baddie and waiting for them to fall on the ground. Well, I got me an idea that sounds interesting to me but will be immediately buried under an ocean of flame from you Grenade Launchers! (please put the pitch forks down for one second and let me explain) Current stat ideas: 4 round magazine, 12 rounds in reserve, no extended mags (EDIT: forgot to mention, also reloads one shell at a time) "pump action" style chambering at a slow enough speed approx. 3 grenades to kill but with a wide-ish blast radius grenades don't detonate on impact unless you equip a different ammo type which makes them even heavier (maybe smaller blast radius too) grenades have the hand grenade symbol on huds rocket launcher rate of refilling ammo at ammo packs not sure of which class, maybe all but infil like shotguns? Why you want it: Perfect for clearing out rooms you otherwise have no access to from turtling enemies Excellent for low aim beginners with the stock ammo while still receiving benefits from skill with direct hit rounds It's not another bland full auto gun! Making things go boom always feels good Why you might want to skip it: Not a very convenient primary compared to carbines and ARs Super low ammo with a sluggish re-arming rate Not only is it hard to hit things really far, but nearly impossible to fight up close Because the enemies see grenade warnings on their hud, they can dodge your rounds with relative ease Discuss! Please do, seeing numbers on my Alerts tab makes me happy and Jesus would want you to make me happy. Also I might have gotten something incredibly imbalanced and I am willing to admit I'm an idiot who gets nothing right
You've clearly never played Planetside 1, because you just described the Thumper. Radiator (launches pain fields) and Maelstrom (Launches grenades that hurt everything in the blast radius, as well as hurting everything in the blast radius of whatever it hurts, and so on and so on.) have very similar roles as well. On topic, I have said several times that I would love to see the Thumper in this game. It would be a great Engineer exclusive weapon (possibly heavies as well, like the Battle Rifles). It would definitely fill a niche that currently only Vanu have even the slightest access to (with the Lasher X2).
