    PS has gone

I'm hopping around all 3 fractions and playing around with various weapons in various conditions, don't bother with kdr, just want to see the difference between everyone.
  4. ProperBo

The game has been out for what? 2 weeks? The developers seem very responsible and I'm sure the meta game will change as the game matures. They have hinted at as much in their tweets.

The times I believed in developers of WAR and FFXIV, I ended up with disappointment. Well at least FFXIV is undergoing a re-build, and the new guys are really better, give me hope the re-lanuch will be great, but have a feeling dreams and hope gonna be crushed and set on fire.

This game could only be so lucky to be BF. This game is a half finished mess. As for OP, go outside, it might do you some good. You have all this time in game and complain about being tired of the game.
  7. Basti

    It is.

Planetside 1 is more complex than just giant battles everywhere. You also had your small battles around a tower, or on some other continent.

That happend, and it was good. PS2 has the same stuff, and it actually need it. Just as much as the gigantic battles.
THe idea is that you can choose yourself if you want to get thrown in a 300 vs 300 Tech plant fight, or get some Hex somehwere else with just a squad. At any given moment, that tech plant fight could become a 300 vs 0, or whatever crazy combination of numbers, and that small outer territory could become the new zerg fest. ;)

But we absolutly need to split things up, to stop this whole ghost hacking of hexes. Also, capture times need to be a lot slower, to allow resecures. It should only be as fast as it is right now sometimes when you have all surrounding hexes.

I wish they had spent a little less time taking things from the spunkgargleweewee genre and a little more time taking things from Planetside when designing this game.

I see so many mechanics in PS2 that were designed for the quarterly > annual release schedule genre of FPS games. It boggles me that SOE decided to copy them for a game they want to last for a decade+.

I agree with what mostly have been said here, especially with Sky.
I haven't really played this game much like I used to and I can't really take it seriously; I have already lost a ton of interest in it already.
I was top 10 twice in this game, and I was going for a third time until I just suddenly got extremely bored with it and tired of the repetitive play. If you want a ton of kills, grab a tank or buy rocket pods for your aircraft and enjoy your farm - that's not the kind of game I wanted to play - I didn't want to play a game where I was absorb into the zerg and constantly being shot by teammates and who knows what. Right now everything is a clusterfvck and I'm amaze that people like Sky are forcing themselves to play this game for that long. (even more amaze at the people throwing hundreds of dollars into the game already.)

I didn't mind that they borrowed stuff from Battlefield or other popular FPS games and that's fine, but they needed to implement alot of features from Planetside to make this game feel like Planetside - we've been telling them to add these features since tech test and still no improvement. Its funny, I see alot of new guys blindly putting their faith in SOE despite their horrid history claiming this game is perfect and really fun!1! yeah I agree the game is fun - for 15 mins or so but I don't see myself playing zergside 2 for the next 7 years.

Huge Battles was not the feature that made Planetside great, it was the depth.
This game has no depth and its only focus is huge battles.

Right now until they get around to finishing the continental game all there is is looking for a good fight each night. Unfortunately you picked Briggs, so you're kinda out of luck there.

I enjoy the game, though I find myself playing less and less, now that I'm noticing that a lot of what I thought was my terrible aiming is just video lag. I've done what I can to improve performance, but it is frustrating going into fight after fight one on one and dying before I get a shot off. Nearly always 3 hits, "thumpthump thump", dead. And when I do what appears to me to be a nice upper chest to head spray of bullets from me couldn't even break my opponents shields.

I get that I suck, but I've got everything turned down and these guys can just run circles around me. Gotta love it when I get my max back and some guys comes up and does that to me and I can't even move my screen fast enough to respond and melee swings constantly miss. Its not like I'm keyboard turning here.

The game looks worse than ps1 at the lowest settings, and still runs worse. I just don't get it. You'd think that a FPS would have better performance than WoW.
  12. DorkSided

I don't know who skyexile his beside his k/d but it doesn't matter even if his k/d would be 0.5 he brings extremely valid points.
  13. Babaganoush

    ..uhh... lol...

Except in WoW all you had to do was click on a target and choose a skill, while instances for larger battles. In PS2 there's a whole lot of hit reg going on in the background.

And it sounds more like you have an old computer anyway. Low settings on my three year old computer runs at a decent 45-60 fps until memory leaks take over.
  14. Duff_Chimp

Lol if you call Catacomb 3D a competitive FPS Online shooter, Quake for me was that. I just assuming your 12 or something due the simple nature of your replies.

I play the way i play, i kill plenty of people. In fact i don't have problems killing people or even staying alive in most cases. I don't play game with mindset that kills per second, score per minute, kill/death ratio, level, experience or any other stats are more important than actually having fun. That sounds too much like what CoD kiddies are about, and is the reason i never played that game.

I always play to win, i hate losing, if i die in most games and situations it is my fault or there is something i could of done better or learn from the failure. The only thing i've learned from rocket pods is that unless i bum air, rocket pods or A2A, i can used to randomly get blown up for no reason apart from being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

How does it happen though? You can't change peoples minds or perceptions without doing something tangible. At the moment air can be overwhelming, in situations where the sky is so full of aircraft you could randomly shoot up and hit something. Yet trying to actually take anything down with all the AA we supposedly have is next to impossible except for the completely abysmal pilots. I have dual burster max, the number times i have half healthed or almost completely destroyed air, only to have it fly away and never get any xp or credit is so frustrating. Why would anyone that wants to 'win' as you put it, bother doing this. THAT is the fundamental problem, and something needs to change or it will stay the same. End of.

2 year old Dell. i5 3.2GHz, 8GB, 220GT 1GB. Not great specs, but hardly terrible.

I just really wish this game ran better on lower end systems. PS2 is the only game I play where I have much issue. I can deal with low fidelity, but the framerate is terrible. 30 fps when nothing is happening. Maybe 50 if I stare at the ground. Updated drivers. Very clean system. I used to work on computers in the Marines, and while I may not keep up on the latest new toys. I still know how to maintain a system very well.

I mostly wanted to vent though. :p
  16. Apina

My only complaint is really quiet server during morning, right now theres war going, so fun. IMHO they should add something like what Elder Scroll Online devs are doing called megaserver.
  17. RockHarder

The real problem with this game is the devs not knowing what the **** they are doing when it cvomes to balancing; meanwhile wanting people to buy weapons.

Youre never going to make your money back Smed because youre going to drive everyone away with porly-considered balance changes. Let the damn ruleset sit for a few months before you start ******* around with it,. since you clearly dont know what youre doing
  18. RockHarder

what metagame - changing accounts to friendly fire your own side because F2P or do you mean the metagame of forum whining to get your playstyle buffed etc.

both have disgusted me, were done
  19. Sentnl

Really it's just about someone saying they've played fps games before someone else was born, so basically anyone younger than 24~. *golfclap*

Winning is about winning, there aren't numbers attached to it... You're either better than the majority or worse. if you're not playing better than most people in an online video game.. what's the point. SOE developed Free Realms for a reason - but even there, smashing noobs is important.

You can't escape it, unless you play single player games where no one cares if you won or not.
  20. LastLieutenant

I think giving some people time to figure the mechanics of the game out and allowing for characters to develop (Orbital strike, etc.) along with the updates from SOE will make this a great game. Look back to the beginning of beta and see how far its come. And its F2P. You don't have a spend a dime if you don't want to.
