Alpha - Bases Weren't Always Poorly Laid Out

Infiltrators are more like scouts in this game now, but the turrets and Terminal hacking is still good. The current game hasn't stopped the really annoying infiltrators who do sneak in and bypass defenses. Doors had nothing to do with infiltrators, as other players would do it without using infiltration.

As for casual players, no... The point I was trying to make is the fact that while you want gaps to allow attackers to be able to push in, you also do not want to make it so defenders need to be 2x+ the attackers to decently defend. But the problem in Planetside 2 right now is majority of the bases have some big gaping defense holes that does not allow for defenders a reasonable means to defend. While the dying is a bit more 'faster' than Planetside 1, to be honest, 'casual players' are going to keep playing whether or not the attack is stalled by an easier defense or not, as the focus of the game is fighting.

And the LLU thing was to promote two things -
    1. Faster Capturing of a Base
    2. Promoting a mobile fight instead of a 'standing around' situation.
The LLU bit was to get people to do fighting, even if the base was completely disabled by allowing the defender to pick off the capturing force's LLU run in transit to their LLU cap point and give defenders also the ability to delay the capture of the base.

The LLU concept will probably not work too well for a few reasons for Planetside 2.
    1. Majority of the 'outposts', as the game refers to them, are not exactly staggered apart great distances in some cases. In Planetside 1, while people controlled bases, there were reasonably distances between them to make running on foot difficult. In PS2, the distances are rather meh for some outposts to outpost. Stronghold and Black Iriudium come to mind. Same with Stronghold and Feldspar, as those are logical 'runs'
    2. Even if there was a lattice system, the LLU 'run' usually tries to focus on the 'longer' connection for that empire. The current attempts at Lattice is a bit too painful and damn near annoying to really implement an LLU run because some of the shown 'links' are literally 'river' like followings. And to run it, is basically similar to trying to follow 'streams', especially on Indar where there are literal canyons that make it a bit impractical for defenders to do what you could do in PS1, which is come from different angles.

yeah, theres no need to just copy , paste and update graphics from ps1 bases but base design in ps2 is steps in the opposite direction. It is literally like cargo containers thrown around and a 3 story unfinished structures.

When you run into a base with limited , guarded , and closed entrances the "zerg" will have to stop and think before going forward.
Hack the door? Use LA's to go over a base wall and open the doors / gates? Gal drop into the courtyard of the base?
Unless the devs prefer the current largest zerg wins format.

ANT runs were a lot of fun in PS1.
    As were ANT hunts.

It's a shame that they didn't implement them in PS2.
Maybe it will come in a patch one day.

i really hope so, this was one of the most fun parts, seeing a friendly base getting attacked heavily, and just ninja'ing that damn ANT into there while 15 tanks chase after you^^

    awesome times were had

Yeah i enjoyed it myself but with the group of players who cant be bothered by anything new ..ie lines connecting bases (/facepalm) adding ant runs and the LLU would be too much like rocket science. Dont you know the future means everything easier and you need to use your brain less? Not more.

As fun as we thought challenges were..heh no it wont work here. I'm still laughing over how boggled a person can be over lines connecting bases.

"they were able to run all over the place all willy nilly before so yeah lines confuse and confound them" mmmhmm ..yep
