Since some people actually paid for the Holiday Hats/Face Masks/Helmets etc.. Would it be so wrong to allow us to ware them out of season? but the EXP Bonus only applies during seasonal events. Those who think it's silly will continue to wear whatever they like, and those who have nothing better to ware, can wear their free Holiday gear.. Neoow... Technically there are some EU country that state virtual products are as good as a physical product (Specifically in MMOs and Micro-Transaction Games.), and denying access to them (again in some places) is against said country law.. unless SOE has something about Seasonal wears in the T&C (Which I doubt), other than (Which does not apply to some EU countries, and our rights are limited to SOE using the soon to end loop pool of being in the US with almost zero Virtual Rights..) All Virtual items purchased are property of SOE blah blah blah, but nothing about limited access to seasonal virtual products.. And adding something about limited Seasonal wear to the T&C after said purchase would have to result in either a refund or granted access, unless there happens to be something in the T&C about it.. I briefly read it once, but it has a Iron Fist about refunds due to them being in the US.. (soon to change EU) Thy End..
The team has decided in order to provide balance between semi-realism some long for that providing items like sweater camo, fireworks guns, etc... work well but only for limited periods of time. I can't speak to any legalities around this but will pass along concerns regarding additional communication. At the end of the day we obviously want folks happy with their purchases and that begins with an understanding of exactly what they are buying.
Please no. And while you are at it arent we all sick of halloween horns yet? Why arent they seasonally restricted like the rest?
Why is there such inconsistency with what is seasonal? Helmets- most expensive and seasonal are limited to just a month of use Camos- almost all are there year round despite the season except for the limted 2 week only to buy winter camos. Other cosmetics- seasonal decals and hood ornaments are there year round.
Some of it makes sense because they had xp boost that applied with the hats. They would likely have to disable those boosts, because I don't think their intention was to allow them to be perminant xp boosts, more like a week xp boost with a visual component.
thanks for this reply. i really hope the halloween hats/flaming skulls DON'T EVER come back! they were silly and made this game look like a bad TF2 clone on a larger scale. if i could i would also remove the flaregun, snowball launcher, heartstring crossbow, all holiday horns, valentines camos, etc
I would really hope that the team would reconsider this; the hats are completely understandable, but removing camos and weapons feels like a step too far. As someone who bought the Blackheart crossbow back when it came out last year, I would really rather not see it season-locked and be forced into buying a non-season-locked version of it if I wanted to continue using the weapon. Seasonal weapons as a part of the persistent game environment has never been an issue before, and to imply that it's suddenly an issue now is just silly. This game takes place in the future, and due to that, a lot of things break the implications of 'realism' anyway. A pink crossbow, a machine gun with an orange stripe around it, or a knife made from solid ice aren't any more unrealistic than a laser rifle or a plasma-beam rocket launcher. As for the more out-there weapons like the snowball launcher and the candy-cannon, being killed by them is about as probable as being killed by actual snowballs and candy; there's no reason to take something that's already a very niche role and make it even more niche by restricting its use to only certain times of the year. While a case could be made about holiday camos, that also falls flat in comparison to all of the other unrealistic camos the game already has; unless you intend to remove every camo that isn't an actual military-grade pattern, camos aren't ever going to be so realistic that the holiday and halloween ones will look notably out of place.Take a look at Tech camo, or Cardboard camo, or even Tormented camo, and it's very clear that they are not realistically practical for any realistic army. They're there to look nice and add self-expression to a character, not to support what an actual soldier would look like, and removing some options for being less 'realistic' than others is entirely pointless when only about a quarter of the camos available would remain if all unrealistic camos were removed. Keeping hats as a seasonal item makes sense, as they all clearly represent their respective seasons, and serve no functional purpose in gameplay other than the seasonal XP boosts they give. That being said, restricting any other item that happens to be related to a season is not a good idea, and will not serve any purpose other than taking valid options away from the playerbase. After we just got done losing people to the server issues at the start of the year, the last thing we need is to drive off anyone else by locking their paid camos and weapons in a box until their respective seasons roll around.
Yes, lets have people running with pumpkin helmets the entire year and have the game look like world of warcraft, woehoe! /sarcasm
um no, it says plainly on the item it is only usable in the holiday season, you know what your buying when you buy it, the only thing ambiguous about it is weather you can use it next year, which from the wording it could swing ether way. but i would expect to use it again with that wording. I can admit some seasonal type things would be cool to use outside of the season, but I don't really want to see santa hats all year long in a shooter,,,,,
how about this. you get a control in options "fun mode" when it's off people who have seasonal helmets out of season render with stock helmets. when on you see everyone's seasonal helmets. everybody wins.
