After normalizing those ESF guns

There was still tons of Reavers in the air. Maybe not since this latest patch, but I can't really say since I haven't been flying against the NC when I have been in the air. I have still had tons of awesome air battles with Scythes since the patch, and I have had tons of awesome air battles against both the NC and VS for months after the ESRL update however

The Reaver has always been an up close, in your face style ESF. The whole incentive SOE was trying to preach for shooting people at range was and is dumb, but the change to the rotaries puts more emphasis on the Reaver's preferred tactic. Fight up close and hitboxes are practically meaningless, and your faster TTK, better vertical thrust, and better afterburners will do the rest.

Reavers still have the best afterburners, vertical thrust, and the most speed loss in turns is actual incredibly helpful at times. While the duration of them may not be as long as they sued to be, they are still more powerful than the Scythe's or Mosquito's. Also, all the bullets from all vehicles originate from the camera now. Even tested it myself just now to make sure. Any problem you are having probably has a lot more to do with your own aim than the offset.

There was a graph that had the XP earned per hour and kills per hour for the rotaries somewhere around the forums. Basically, the Vortek performed better at every battle rank level compared to the other two. The gap between them was fairly massive when you started getting players who were battle rank 50 and above.

I don't like how they changed things either, but the Reaver is hardly so terrible you get shot down by anyone and anything right now.

And isn't that the way with all NC things? They take away one of the advantages of an NC weapon, whilst keeping all the drawbacks.

And then they give that advantage to everyone else but don't give them any of the disadvantages. The NC call this "balance."

After doing nothing but flying for a while tonight, I guess I can concur that there really isn't much fun in flying on Waterson server anymore. Every time you pull a Reaver you either run into NUC/CT on TR side or ZAPS/VDRS on VS side all of which were ace pilots and formidable foes even before the Rotary buffs. I used to be somewhat of a good pilot on Waterson, not flying habitually, but when I did I would get frequent tells afterward from people saying things like "oh and people think the Reaver needs a buff?" and etc. But man wtf good is better vertical thrust when I am killed before I can even finish my transition? I flew with UNIT, PHX, H4TZ and some randoms, and it was just brutal on all of us. I'm trying to play through it, hoping it'll make me a better pilot, but man, I just don't see the fun in it anymore. NC really got screwed this time around.

Don't even say something smart like "welcome to balance NC!?!??!?" cause when long time devoted NC pilots are leaving the game or switching sides, that should tell you that something is up. If aces with tons of airtime since release and even Beta can't fly it, then people aren't just having l2p issues.

We are not MLG enough for them Dash

I like this pic because I made it. I think chopping off some bits that wouldn't be hit by a cone of fire aimed center mass at medium-long ranges (the situation where hitboxes have greatest impact on combat) gives the best comparison.
  7. ItsJustDash

I don't know what you are trying to prove because your video is private.
  8. Garakan

Sorry Pix, but that Pic isnt practical at all. Only with an Aimbot.
You wont achieve that amount of Accuracy to have your Enemy centered in your Crosshair if he dodges/moves. Most of the time, you will hit him either left, right above or under. Take that into account, and the Reaver is even worse, the Mosquito and the Scythe a lot better.
Im not into statistical distribution, but i would bet, even for the best pilots, most of the hits are at least slighty off center.
    Massive Hover Wings, anyone?
  9. Pixelshader

    woops

So the reaver is doubly bad, then? And the skeeter better since it is grouped into one dot. I see what you are saying.

I've noticed some reaver pilots refuse to fight me (in a scythe) unless they can get really close, close enough that the hitbox doesn't matter. Then their weapon gives them the advantage. They actually turn over and run before getting commited if the situation looks like a medium range duel type. Because they know what the odds are they can choose to avoid that situation, so it's not a massive game breaker.
  10. redmamba

This hit boxes mean nothing when reavers have the best vertical thrust and instead of hovering shoot up and kill you from above.
I'm a ****** pilot, I still learn to fly. But I usually die more times agains reaver pilots that I do against scytes.
  11. Pixelshader

It doesn't bother me. I wrote about this before, I will find it and quote.
  12. ItsJustDash

Wat, just wat. This broke my mind on so many levels.
  13. Van Dax

Its been like this for a long time. I keep trying to explain that it has been eliminated but there are some diehard NC's that just won't believe it.

The tracers throw it off big time though. If they would have just fixed it the right way x.x
  15. Andy79

for all the complaining about the scythe hitbox, at least you dont have to deal with MBT mainguns being used for AA duty (since they can be aimed higher and have less drop)
  16. Garakan

You cant close the Gap as a Reaver, if your Enemy knows how to aim.
Rotaries are normalized, theres no real Advantage for a Reaver, while it still has its biggest disadvantage. Whoever thinks 20kph more VThrust can Offset such a large Hitbox, cant aim or is a bad Pilot. (not pointed at you, but seeing how often its mentioned, i had to add this)
The Hitbox for the Reaver should be reduced, along with some other minor changes.
  17. KAHR-Alpha

But they did it the silly way instead, it's the same for tanks. At some point there's a path interpolation between tracers and real projectile path, you can see it in this video with the shells flying sideway:
  18. y3ivan

yes, after GU12 where rounds are based on camera. Prowler shells curve to the right while vanguard/lighting curve to the left. Magrider is unaffected since its already has centralized gun.
  19. y3ivan

apparently spadar showed his detail explanation about the reaver v-thrust is nearly identical between all factions ESF.
  20. Travesty

If the hitbox size doesn't make a difference, then you should be willing to have your faction's infantry have a 10% hitbox increase? Infantry combat isn't as fast moving and complex as dogfighting, so the hitbox should matter even less, right?

I want the ESF's to be balanced, but different. But, this pass simply balanced the weapon systems in isolation. I believe that was a mistake. I'm stunned they made the smallest profiled vehicle in hover battles have the most accurate weapon.

    The hitbox matters.
