I'm also looking forward for some immersion right after Metro.
  2. Flamberge

As long as we get everything else from that vid. :p:rolleyes:

But idk. With the game state as it is, money spent of adding guts could be spent elsewhere fixing other stuff. At least for right now, this is not something I could get behind.
  3. JustBoo

Yeah because what we need more than anything are endless threads on Forumside where people are QQ'ing over the blood not being "bloody" enough. The guts not being "gutsy" enough. "These new guts are are bowl of stink compared to the old guts, I QUIT!" "I can't see through all the blood and guts AND I'm hitching now! I QUIT!" And on and on.

And regardless of someones claim of chronological age, mentally acting like a 12 year old searching for a dead body so they can exclaim; "Oh looky at the blood and guts doodz!" is sort of telling. The irony is, most 12 year olds throw up and cry for their mommy if they even smell a dead body.

    Yeah can't wait.

Yes, the same 14 yr olds whose sole purpose and goal in life is to rack up a score sheet of how many girls/guys they have fked, and compare it to thier classmates. Who smoke weed, drugs and w/e else...who dont give 2 ***** about any order or lws laid down for them.

But yes, a little blood and gore shouldnt be added to a game cuz of little kiddies......cuz its really going to bother them...

So much dumb in so few sentences.
  6. DatVanuMan

And that is why I stopped playing that game.
  7. DatVanuMan

Not EXACTLY. Only our suits are made of nanites, nothing else. I mean, sure, we have nanites in our veins, but we STILL have ORGANS and PLASMA, which is what any human being no matter how MLG needs to survive.
  8. Strottinglemon

Misconception. Nanites are assemblers that reconstruct us out of the same sort of molecules we're naturally made from. They are the bricklayers and not the bricks. Our suits are made the same way, evidenced by this VS design trailer.

Their armor is made of fullerenes, AKA molecules composed entirely of carbon. Not nanites, carbon.

In any case, I'd love me some blood. It's just a particle effect, no more intensive than the ones that already occur when projectiles hit things. Make it a menu option disabled by default to appease the overly squeamish. Could be a good indicator of damaging someone's health rather than their shields as well.
  9. Kubin

Came here to say that. Thank you both.

I'd sure like to see some blood but it's not even close to necessary for me. If it ever happens - I would surely turn it on, but if not - I won't complain. The game is awesome without it :p

At the very least, a satisfying pink mist when ever you land a headshot.

Far as I'm aware they did experiment with Rag rolls, Gibs and what not in the Tech Tests.
Gibs made people lag and Rag Dolls put too much stain on the servers syncing up body placement for medics.

They're all made of Nanites, if you shoot people you see the green lines appear (like the Matrix). It's a Sci Fi game so blood shouldn't be part of this.

I want this much blood in my game.

You all are missing the point.

Blood and Gore would not tax the systems. Would be pixels at best, and if your computer can't handle that, then there's your problem right there. Get a Video Card that has more than 128MB of Ram.

On the other side. Blood and Gore has been in video games for a while. They aren't going to hurt any children or teens. Heck I was as young as five when I first saw movies like Full Metal Jacket and the first Predator movie as well as the first Robocop movie.

But I have to ask this question. What would be the point of Blood and Gore in Planetside 2? Make it cool? Its already cool. They decided to do like Dice did with Battlefield 2142 and go without blood and gore. It just didn't fit with the art direction they went for in this game.

I mean what would they do? Go the Golderneye route and put blood stains where people were shot? I mean what would it actually add to the game? This is a symptom of 'this game has this, so this one should too.' My recommendation, go play that other game. Not all games need to be alike, thats what makes the industry Boring. When games try to copy each other.

You could make nanite blood gore effects which would be very minor, nothing like the over the top other games, it would increase immersion just as well if done right, the pleasure is in the details.

What I don't get is that care bear people don't want anything at all, you cant even have fun in the forum just talking about it.

I also don't have much of an opinion when someone puts marketing and money infront of immersion because of audience ratings and/or then says its good for the kids, don't you give me that.

I appreciate you coming to the thread with an open mind as well as discussing it like an adult.

I imagine that as far as games go, blood and or gore could be added along the same lines that it was in Halo, very simple particle effect that wouldn't be very taxing to the server, especially if it's added as a client side addition in which case it wouldn't affect the server at all.

My point would be that I would appreciate the option, many others would as well. If only for the extra immersion factor. I don't need ragdolls, I don't need guts everywhere, even a little bit of blood + blood decals on the floors/walls, etc would be nice though.
  18. MasonSTL

Actually that is the exact reason why they didn't add it

For those that criticize the introduction of blood in this game just because of the children i say this:

This is a online war game, like Counter Strike and many others. It's not intended for children. If i can play with some gore in those games why not on this?
The situations that Planet Side2 offers like the C4 or mines is adult content... When i blow up a moving tank with C4 or kill some infantry with the claymore i don't imagine a child doing that! For children you have children games. The blood option should be available in the graphic configurations of the game. All said. ;)
