    Micro-hex system:

Thicks lines are lattice links. the hexagons of the same color are the related micro-hexes. The idea would be to manually "propagate" the lattice ownership through them, that's is to attack base 2 from base 1 a faction has to make a path to base 2 by conquering micro-hexes the old way. This could be done just by hacking a pole or something (which would take 10 seconds).

The closer you get to infantry the easier it is to path predict with your shells where they will go next and the less travel time it takes for the shell to get to infantry giving them less chance to avoid your shells. What's more efficient to attempt in your tank, trying to shoot a small moving target that's able to rapidly change directions at 100-200 meters or at 300 meters? Splash damage is in a pretty sad state right now, so attempting to direct hit infantry is the best option. It's much easier to direct hit infantry the closer you are to them, therefore tanks want to get as close as they can without being in range of C4 fairies.

Anyhow reducing infantry AV weapons to 300 meters promotes infantry to fight in the open field battles because right now they have the choice to not do that. Instead they are sitting outside the field of battle invisible and sniping armor, and once that armor is taken care of they zerg across to the next base on foot or pull their own vehicles until the enemy infantry pull the same type of Shenanigans. If infantry are no longer allowed to snipe armor outside of infantry render distance then that leaves them 3 options.

    1. Move within 300 meters of enemy armor as infantry to fight alongside and support allied armored units trying to take out enemy armor on the field of battle. (Best option resulting in better gameplay)

    2. Pull their own AP vehicles to counter the enemy vehicles ( 2nd best option)

    3. Leave the battle and search for one that doesn't involve fighting ground vehicles. (I don't like combined arms battles option:rolleyes:)

Until infantry AV weapons have their maximum range reduced to 300 meters to promote epic combined arms open field battles the follow scenarios will instead occur.

What the VS infantry currently do to destroy open field combined arms battles. (9:00 - 15:00)

What the TR infantry currently do to destroy open field combined arms battles.

What the NC infantry currently can do, this is footage of the post nerf Annihilator shutting down armor at ranges it cannot fight back , to destroy open field combined arms battles. (The Phoenix is not part of the problem since it already has a Max range of 300 meters)

This is what engineers currently do to destroy open field combined arms battles.

One way of getting players out in the field is to have a lot of the smaller outpost reworked into something that is much more defend-able and more simple. however these smaller outpost don't have spawn rooms for defenders but has a they still have a capture point. you can still get vehicles and air at them but no spawn rooms this would make most commanders have to think differently about how they move there forces on the battlefield and give sundys a much bigger role. Say if you can only spawn on big facility and there outline bases, and a few larger outpost in between. instead of all of the outpost on the map. battle flow will change drastically. and there would be more fighting in the open.

Add cap points that can only be taken by vehicles.

    BOOM

    Now tanks have a role

    Simple.

    More cover in open fields.

Right now there's areas where the sprint from one peice of cover to the next is upwards of 100 m. Anyone caught out in the open for that long is pretty much dead.

Natural ditches and depressions in the terrain should provide cover for infantry to fight across open fields. I would even go as far as to say there should be small craters on Indar, more low lying streams on Amerish, and rocky outcrops in Esamir.

Current Esamir is an improvement on old Esamir for infantry fighting in open fields, but they ruined it for vehicular combat at the same time.
