Account wide weapons FAQ... You must be joking right?

  1. Vellu

    Infantry unlocks: NS-11, Annihilator
Vehicle unlocks: weapons for Flash, Sunderer, Lightning, Liberator and Galaxy

I'm hoping the common pool camos will be unlocked on my other characters
  2. Zitroxious

    way to fail SoE
  3. OrphanXX

    No, WarZ is that.

Your sig always seems appropriate to every thread...

    On topic;
This is quite appalling. I made some purchase choices purely because it would be unlocked across all 3 of my characters... For example, Halberd instead of Enforcer.

    Here's the big question?

Who the **** actually bought a Kobalt with SC instead of the measly 100 Certs?

    1) Not too sure about that, the wording in the FAQ is a bit off, since the question was only asking about characters of the same empire. I'll wait to see how that turns out. I assume that empire specific camo will not be available to other empires, but any camo that is the same across all three (giraffe for example) will be available to all your characters. We'll see though.

    2) Burster is NS (common pool), same as the Annihilator and NS-11A, so that will be account wide.

And I go to work because of the friendly guys there and not for the paycheck ;)

I understand that every Item has it's individual ID (seen when spawning a vehicle in the vid of Matt) but you can't tell me, that this is this much of afford to make it technically to unlock because ID1 is Vanguard M12 Koblat and ID2 is Magrider M12 Kobalt?!

So this is the case why Sunderer, Flash, Lib and Galaxy Weapons are Unlocks, because of the same Name = same ID!

It's diffrerence is Backround Database ID not the way it work inside the Game itself!! And this is what you have to change!
And this can't be quite that hard...
  9. ShockATC

Why dont you just say that the first time? Why dont you make a patchnote with "... here are you account wide unlocks, but due to some technical problems you can only have "XY" at the moment, sorry for that." <-- That would be a fair information and wouldnt make people go into a raging mob.
There is no need to be ashamed by making mistakes. only if you try to hide them...

That's cool that they are looking into broadening the unlocks.

I know doing so might basically give free items to people who otherwise might have bought the same variant of an item multiple times across characters....but there would probably be many people who would perceive the value of SC to be much higher if an unlock is across servers and will buy Sc for things that they otherwise might have just used certs for.
  12. Vufain

What I want to know is what is being done about the double purchases? There is no mention in the notes how this is being handled. If i bought the dalton on 3 characters do I get some sort of SC refund? Nothing about this situation is mentioned in the FAQ.

Highly articulate and one of the best posts I have come across. Instead of simply whining, this post dives straight into the thoughts and concerns PS2 players currently have.
    This times 1,000,000,000,000,000!

Am I the only one that is reading completely different things here?
"Technically, they are completely different things" to me sounds like "they have totally different entries in our data base". So while every burster for every faction is number 7 in the table, the secondaries for tanks are 45 for TR, 46 for NC and 47 for Vanu.
There is no gameplay difference to them, afaik, so they are not different in that way.
The tone in this forum is absolutely horrible. No wonder, everyone uses ******* outside websites like twitter and reddit for communication (I don't use those, so I only get a small percentage of these informations)

You know what I think is absolutely hilarious?

I took part of Beta, I have Alpha Squad, I'm a 12 month subscriber, and I've forked out money for station cash for various items. But for some arbitrary reason, I can only have 3 characters on one account. So I have 3 accounts, across different email addresses so I can play with friends in different time-zones. Only on one of my accounts do I double up on one faction, otherwise each account has one character per faction. (Alpha: 1 VS, 1 TR, 1 NC) (Free+SC: 1 TR, 2 VS) (Free: 1 NC, 1 TR)

Unlocks on one account do not transfer to another, unlocks from one character's empire do not transfer to another empire. What I have bought on the Alpha account I have had to buy on second account even though it was for VS characters but on different servers.

And now with Empire Specific Rocket Launchers, I'm going to have to buy what is effectively the same weapon for each character.

This is absolutely hilarious. Stupid 3 character limit.

So the account wide unlocks don't actually unlock anything at all really?

    lolz

See why F2P is utter ****e?

This game is free to play they dont HAVE to do any of this, but they are, there not doing it for money there doing it for you, so please be happy with whats coming and dont COMPLAIN about every thing you dont like. At least not untill the GU hits, and we can see how its going to work.

So, reasons have been given. Some may find them satisfying, some may not. I think the main point here is that SOE should have been upfront about all the vitally important things required/associated with the change. Giving generalized statements that have already been quoted on this thread, will often lead to assumptions (in this case quite fair ones) being made by the community. Why is the community making fair assumptions when reading these things? Because we trust you. And seeing that trust waver is a saddening thing.

Personally I feel like I'm dealing with politicians more than game developers at this point. Trying to tell the community "this is what you wanted", while holding back all the details like an evil genie granting a wish, but killing you a moment later. I can appreciate the fact that there is so much going on in the background, but when those things in the background are vital pieces of information, they should be disclosed from the start to avoid getting into situations like this. There is always a fine print in every contract, in this particular case I feel that we didn't get the chance to read it at all.

As for myself, I like this game very much and have given more than my fair share of monetary support for the development.
I don't even own any of the weapons that are being debated over in this thread. I just saw a decision being made that would reflect poorly on the game that I like, and could be one of the things that define it's path in the future. In the end, I can't say that I feel overwhelming anger over the matter, just disappointment. But that can sometimes be worse... Since anger is a powerful feeling that usually comes up when you are passionate about something, whether as disappointment just leaves you feeling numb and after a while brings about disinterest.

So, be glad that you have so many angry community members on this thread, and in the future be sure to give us all the vital information from the start.

    Thanks.

This is how it should have been implemented....

When a player buys station cash it adds that much to each characters own station cash wallet which is then used to buy thing from the store. This way a player can spend the station cash how they want on each character and means that you do not have to worry about items having equivalents for each empire. This is a much more elegant system for when future items are released because with the current system you can bet that people will just buy the cross faction items as opposed to getting all the cool stuff and so purchasing less station cash.

The only problem with this is that players would be able to start a new character and completely change what items they purchased with their station cash. But since the certifications would be reset not many players would do this beyond using it as an in game (and awkward) virtual reality.

Please SOE use this method, making people feel like their station cash is more powerful will encourage them to buy more of it not less.

Bravo. My sentiments precisely. Like Anti-Skub, I'm pretty much a one-faction, one-server player and have no interest in account-wide unlocks as such and find myself generally very happy with the progress the game has made since release. However, the implementation of account-wide unlocks leaves much to be desired especially in terms of how slowly information has been released, how vague that information has been and ultimately how little it will affect those who were genuinely looking forward to it.

I feel sorry for those players who, like myself, were under the impression that ALL common pool items would be unlocked across all three factions. Whether or not there is some semantic difference between a Prowler M12 and a Vanguard M12 is irrelevant; your customers aren't going to know that. Nor will they care.

The obfuscation practiced here will only server to hurt Planetside 2 and SOE in the long run. For those considering what game to invest time (and money) into, it is precisely these types of initiatives which will drive them away. I urge everyone involved in the game design to consider the long-term sustainability of Planetside 2 by looking for design options which will promote the game in a positive and attractive manner, rather than opting for the short-term cash-grab.

At this point I honestly think it would have been better for this feature to never have been announced at all. At least then nobody would have been disappointed by the way it's being implemented.
