Yeah, I suppose you are right there... The only reason I've been able to cert up my dual Burster MAX is because I do not fly or drive and at one point I had over 9000 certs available. So I guess I am a "specialist" :D

I have to admit I am enjoying the revelation that is twitch streaming, never watched it before yesterday.

And then I sat and watched the whole recorded Angry Joe stream which was pretty long and just enjoyed the 4 minutes of this.

Not sure SOE would be too thrilled with them as adverts for their title, it really does show it in all its ugly reality.

The Angry Joe one was especially enjoyable as he was just enunciating exactly the experience I have, meaning at least there are 2 of us on the planet who know this title isn't the best game eva.

And this one was like one of those pop ups where you have to move the cursor over the cockroach to 'win' an ipad, although this had less skillz with its 1337 uber soldat 1hkness.

AJ is supposedly on again tonight and I will check to see his stream tomorrow, not as a follower more a horrified yet transfixed observer.

The two most disgusting things in that video are the base layout of Whispering Pass - if you've ever been there even once, you'll know why - and Scourge's gratuitous elated reactions. The latter borders on explicit content, and I'm not even talking about the song from which he's trying to avoid a smirk.

In the beginning, his Galaxy does start getting some grief from the ground and it pulls back to the other side of the bridge. When he returns, most of the forces he kills are already outside of the spawn room or very quickly rush out of the spawn room shortly following his re-emergence. They were caught off guard. This is where he performs the bulk of his kills and, after that, the number of people trying to escape the spawn room peters out. Due to the way this is presented, it looks like most of the people who were in the spawn, including those who fired rockets at first, died out at the start of the second pass or had moved to a different position whereby the Galaxy was no longer a priority target; then, they left the base. I would suggest a lot of people abandoned the base either before or after the Galaxy came back around to the spawn room due to the number of factors working against them at that point.

His kill feed is mostly filled with unique names bar two or three people so I would not say this is a suitable demonstration of clueless lemmings running to their doom repeatedly.

In situations similar to this, it never hurts to put out a call for help in /region chat. Ask if Dalton Libs and A2A ESFs would make a pass over x base. Pilots are an honorable bunch and very helpful. Just tell them what they are up against when they arrive at your location.

In the future, I hope this will be how player created missions will function. Allow us to put out an all-call for some specific asset in the game at some location.

Apart from needing more players that are able to think, SOE could encorage less farming by not giving xp/kills when the dead one is below your BR minus ten.

The same for all the force multipliers: divide kills by grenades by five, infantry kills by tanks by ten and so on, to represent that a force multiplier is not doing its work if it doesnt kill several times what naked infantry kills.

That would leave the farming to those that farm as a tactical tool and those that do it for tears.
  6. FateJH

I don't see how that would improve anything. That still leaves farming in the hands of tools that are extremely effective at it while being capable of positioning themselves in such a way that poses the least risk to their well-being.

Blaming players in this scenario, be it the people farming the clueless people or people being clueless and not countering it, is the wrong way to look at this scenario.

Players are going to be players. Players do what the game rewards them for doing. If the game rewards you for mass farming other infantry then players will mass farm infantry. The Devs need to realize that XP shouldn't just be the result of an action that is taken, but rather seen as the tool you use to reward game play you want to encourage. Right now the game rewards farming mass piles of noob players as much as possible. What it needs to do is reward objective based game play and remove the farm out of the game.

That would leave out of the equation the players that farm for certs.

IMHO, if a tactical player gets to place a powerful weapon in an favorable position, you deserve to die. Think of a machinegun nest.

You prevent him getting into position or,
    You by-pass him or,
you take the position whatever the cost.

Logged in. A base being taken and the flyer was circling then left. 3 TRs in the base, and our MAX that was there seemed to went AFK, as I turn around and found 3 TRs, dead in less than a second.

Warped to the warped gate (who's idea was automatically putting us into action, again?), left the squad to see how many existed.

Is everyone on vacation now; or did these videos scare everyone away?

WoW had it's reset and sis is busy with raids even at 9am.

    -_-

    1. It's really bad if players need a squad leader to make decisions regarding basic self-preservation. When a giant hovering doomship appears over the battlefield, you don't wait for someone to tell you it needs to be addressed: you do something about it.
    2. At nearly 800 SPM, my ability to generate XP is above average. Skyguards are my 6th highest SPM weapon (behind ESF, Orion, Flare, Magrider, Sirius.) So believe me when I say air deterrence XP is well-rewarded at the moment. I'm usually one of the first to pull anti-air when aircraft show up, because the alternative is usually certain destruction.
  12. FateJH

I think this is the part that confuses me the most. Are we excluding them on principle or implementation?

If it were principle, then we have not resolved anything because the weapon still offers a method of accumulating tremendous uncapped experience quickly. What Scourge is doing would still be incredibly much more profittable than what anyone else on the battlefield is doing; in fact, he is positioned in such a way that he is in fact intercepting the targets his allies would otherwise be engaging before they can engage.

If it weren't implementation, the degree of difference between a "tactical" machinegun nest and a "greedy" machinegun nest occurs before the user even sets up the machinegun.

Players would if it doesn't take 3 people to even try to down aircraft in the first place.

Literally takes 2 AA turrets and a HA with a launcher to *try* to down aircraft. They can move to safety with enough health to gently land somewhere to repair and be right back.

So one aircraft can keep 3 squad members totally occupied.

That's w-a-y over tuned for vehicle survival ... especially logging in with but 1 squad on the whole Indar map. -_-

Planetside 2: "WELCOME TO THE THUNDERDOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

    Get good or Get Rekt

This is how PVP is in general

Players new to PS2 watching this video might get the impression they are getting farmed by a young Gollum. SCNR.

    1. Certainly it's not going to be easy to take out 2-3 players in an aircraft.
    2. Even if you don't kill an aircraft, one player zoning out a hostile aircraft for a few minutes of repair work every 30-60 seconds of uptime is a massive reduction in that aircraft's ability to inflict damage. So one player is still an effective deterrent.
    3. But since the most problematic aircraft are 2-3 players, the expectation is that you'll want to field 2-3 players worth of AA to have a real chance of countering them -- and obviously you'll want to fly an A2A ESF if you really truly want to kill the thing and not simply give it 80-90% downtime (but even that is pretty damn effective.) 2-3 players in A2A ESFs hitting at the same time will absolutely crush a lib/gal unless you're significantly outskilled.

This. This. People just need to learn how to play. Deal with the threats - get AA/AT/C4 or redeploy to the nearest base to form a counter-attack.

USE YOUR BRAIN. Don't just whine that you can't do anything. Everyone can be defeated.
  18. maxkeiser

Yep, as I said in another thread - every game from Quake onwards has this element. The best players are always untouchable and will rule the server.

You have to live with it, try to improve etc etc.

There needs to be some sort of tutorial about Air Defense... i dont know how.... but there should be. I had to yell at a guy last night, i snuck my way to an AA Turret, get it almost repaired and a dude came up and jumped in as soon as i finished. What does he do? he starts firing down on armor and infantry. Which is fine.... IF there are no planes present! But there were alot of air flying around, low and slow farming people and this dude was just ignoring them completly....

that is inexcusable..... he did die in the turret as a reaver took it and me out. still i went back and repaired, another guy got in and instantly looked up, i ran to another AA Turret, repaired it up, and we were able to clear the skies. sadly i got no kills, but made enough noise and damage to keep them away or atleast make them think.

but i do have a noob moment im going to admit to... im a returning player from a loong layoff, i burned myself out with Beta, but i just learned last night that as a max, you get a free burster for your right arm..... i also dont play max at all really... i prefer engi....

Why do people feel the need to record their ugly mug and sound of mouse-keyboard clicking?
