[Suggestion] A Really Controversial But Serious Topic

Dear SOE, and community of PS2. For a long time now the US West Coast server dubbed "Connery" has been a victim of the mass influx of Asian based players later in the day. Most of these players tend to flood into the VS faction causing a massive imbalance in population density and making the game not-fun to play during the later hours.

US West Coasters like myself (Oregon) tend to find this intrusion and unwarranted influx of VS to be exceptionally annoying to the overall flow of the game and find that this artificial increase in their population should be dealt with in a reasonable and correct manner.


So I would like to suggest to SOE that they use their extensive funds from Sony to build and create some servers to host the Asian playerbase that enjoys flooding the VS on Connery.

Perhaps offering a character transfer for each Asian based player to said servers so that they might be able to keep the things that they have purchased and earned would be a good step to encourage a move?

Second since PS2 is branching to other countries i think they should have Asian and Australian servers at this point anyway

How exactly is that "artificial?" Connery has Briggs players and, when they came over, they flocked to the TR. Is an Australian representation "artificial?" Heck, I'm on the East Coast. Am I "artificial?"

The point is there are not asian servers and theyre using US/EU servers when they should have servers based where they live, since the game has spread there.

Until the Earth is invaded by aliens, the only race on this planet is Human. Doesn't mean that people can't be prejudiced against the different ethnicities and genetic differentiations. "Racism" is just a buzzword used to make white folks feel guilty about the past and can be used in reverse to walk all over them.


Point is that I don't believe in or care about that nonsense and I will be more than happy to say that I don't care for the VS- Asian Invasion of Connery every damn night.

Well, clearly, what we have here is a racist poster who wants SOE to divert precious resources to a server based in Asia.*

Anyway, I'm curious as to what makes you think a lot of Asians flooded Connery VS. I don't have a Connery char, so I wouldn't know. Just wondering how you can tell who's playing what.

Aside from that, I don't think SOE can just plop down a server in Asia. Just think of all the legal things they had to do to get Player Studio to other countries.

Which is having an archaic mindset. It is possible to have a hint of objectivity regarding the subject.

Trust me, I'm a long time Connery player. You can tell they are Asians. Specifically Japanese and Koreans.

The VS even have one outfit dedicated to it. "Japanese VS Guardians"

As for the legal stuff, it really isn't all that difficult to set up servers in Japan or especially Korea. That goes double since Sony and its subsidiary Sony Online Entertainment are JAPANESE corporations.

Happens on Emerald late at night during the weekdays, too. I have no objection to Asian people, I just wish they wouldn't all log on at the same time, onto the same faction. It's actually artificially inflating VS alert wins as well, seeing as the huge population spikes end up resulting in them winning most late-night alerts.

Then the argument was badly, badly worded and payed too much attention to framing the population on Connery that is not West Coast as unwelcomed. Moreover, the OP offers assurances that this is a problem ("victim") but does not go into detail about the nature of the exact issues that arise other than "they all play VS." I countered that we welcome Briggs players and they all joined TR.

Asian geographic server? by all means! I don't understand what has to be controversial about it, unless you use so many words to phrase it.

And, despite the altruism inherent to the proposal, OP keeps wording things in a way that shoots himself in the foot. People will keep focusing on that rather than the goal.

If you don't know on connery VS shoot up to 40+% late hours and if you are TR or NC you might as well log off for the night cause the real fighting is over and the vanu zerg will begin. In my opinion it takes a special kind of douchy person to play the over-popped faction, but what can you do. Everyone should be allowed to play as they want, but you would hope that some folks would have the nerve to NOT follow the bandwagon.

As for briggs, I think a lot of us hoped they would relieve some of the VS pressure from late night, and it seemed to work for awhile but now we have even more VS eclipsing the briggs folks.

I don't think they will ever get their own servers in asia, you can't have a game where everyone plays one faction.

I'm on Emerald as well, and I'm hours behind the time zone, yet I haven't seen mass amounts of Asians. I'll need to go hunting for them over the next week.

I'm also willing to assume that there aren't enough Asians (as in living in Asia) to support their own server. Hopefully, they'll realize that "hey, this game is not fun when we all play the same team and have no one to fight." Then they'll join other factions or quit.

The mention of "Asians" to begin with wasn't racial, so guys, please stop trying to turn this into making the OP out to be a racist.

He was speaking of the REGION... not the race... he's not saying that "... but caucasians living in Asia are fine."

Also note that when speaking of Asia, it refers to many different ancestries, including many residing in the former USSR, not just Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.

The same as we refer to the European servers, as well as the US East/West servers (and we're not talking about the east-coast race not wanting to play with the west-coast race... which is just silly) but we get brain-dead people who hear Asian and the first thing they can think of is "ZOMG! RACISM!"... just... grow up people.

Don't turn this into something it isn't. We get enough of that crap in our politics.

Holy ****, you're right. That actually explains a lot about SOE's decision making process. Pretty sure I'd flew off the handle too if my superiors were based 6 000 miles from me. What they're gonna do, yell at me they are extremely disappoint?

Thank you, and you are right. As funny as it is the VS faction pretty much caters to their techno-wet dreams.

In any case there do need to be Asian based servers. It's damaging to the US-West Coasters to have to deal with this **** night after night for the past year and longer.

Afaik there are already korean and chinese servers, I have not heard of any japanese ones, though.
In any case, I doubt they'll open another asia based server to accommodate the couple dozen players that push VS populations in the middle of the night on connery.
