Do they get to be immune to bullets or something? My BR 10 alt has no problem killing BR50+ on Waterson.

All certs mean is you have more options. You might get to take ONE extra bullet. Beyond that a BR1 is just as deadly as a BR100. This isn't a MMO where your level maters.

Well even I have a lot of experience with FPS games but even I struggled for about the first 4 or 5 days because I had never played an FPS on this scale before. Not even BF3 comes close. So you have to adapt to the massive number of people and vehicles. And if you are new to FPS games I'd imagine the learning curve is extremely high.

We both play on the Miller and yes: He's always in a lib, esf or HE cannon tank.

    Kills: 28530

    Headshots: 869

    Says it all really.

BF series are shoebox shooters, they have very small maps. You have to compare tactical FPS games with Planetside like Operation Flashpoint/Armed Assault 2 or mmofps like ww2online/Battleground Europe/Planetside 1. These were not just shooters but had strategically and tactical elements, so of course bigger maps are needed. Unfortunately in Planetside 2 they did remove it or did not finish the game. Learning curve in Planetside 2 is actually lower in comparison to the mentioned games before.

cod players arent necessarily good in this type of game. they are used to deathmatch with predictable avenues and corridors of attack/defense

bf3 players - those that play mostly infantry on the 64 maps - are generally better overall in ps2 than cod players

i'm 38 years old. been gaming since early atari/coleco days. i've always despised online shooters because they were shallow and had no point - just kill other people. i got into the bf3 beta early last year and was hooked. i sucked at first, especially since i'm a pc player only and never play fps games on consoles unless they are mostly rpg and only available on that platform. but i watched a lot of tutorial videos from rivalxfactor and levelcap and other players, and have been able to maintain an almost 4.0 kdr (3.89 on planetside universe, 3.97 in game) while less than 20% of my total playtime spent in a magrider. i never fly. i never gun for libs. i play mostly engineer - for the certs from supplying and repairing. i have purple medals on 4 carbines.

so, there are exceptions. there are days when my kdr is lower than my average - those are usually the days when tr or nc are 41% of the server and vanu are 20% or less - but most often i can kill 4 players for every death by being situationally aware, not spamming comms, using a surround sound headset allowing me to hear footsteps and even suppressed fire thereby knowing where there may be combat.

the cod players i've met in this game so far have not impressed me. although i hate to generalize, most are selfish campers who don't play objectives or know how to use a vehicle properly.

bf3 64 man maps are not shoebox by any means. i hope you are not comparing the console version of an fps game to this.
  7. Moxin

    N
Iam comparing the game world size with the playable game area in BF/COD series. The maps are very small in comparison, not sure if you played the games I mentioned so you know the size difference. BF series and COD type games always had just small maps wheras the other games had a game world big in size, thats why I said shoebox.
  8. ViXeN

I have played probably over 100 FPS games but never played any of those games. LOL BF3's maps are pretty big compared to most FPS games but obviously it can't compare to an MMOFPS so yeah, this is going to be a new experience for a lot of people. And for people who haven't played this type of game the learning curve is off the charts especially with all of the different certs and the map/spawn system.

bf series before bf3, i would agree

but bf3 had the biggest maps around especially with armored kill. cod is not in the same ballpark - never has been. the 64 man maps with armored kill or even caspian border at launch of that game had the same unpredictable lanes of fire that ps2 does in general. yes there were exceptions, like metro, but most maps were not designed like that and the cod kiddies all gravitated towards metro on 32 and 64 because it was just mindless infantry zerg with predictable lanes of combat.

I dont know the size of maps with the dlc content for BF3, but the vanilla BF3 maps are tiny when I compare them to Arma2/Battleground Europe/Planetside 1+2. Battlefield series are definately superb to games like CoD or MoH.

Oh, you should start testing them and you really missed a very interesting FPS type. Arma2 is cheap currently and Arma3 will be released this year. You really should check it out, there is also a very strong modding community and average age is higher. No really, do it. There is a lot more to find in this game than just fast reactions with a weapon.

Newbie stuff. HardCore players do it like this:

Cause if you wanna do it pro then you have 19746.00% k/d ratio and "-8 time" played.
Such a good thing that PS2 has no hackers. Almost as good as having a bug free and working leaderboard.

P.S.: Its possible in theory, but rather suspicious in the practice. He might be simply using cheats every third day.
  12. NoctD

Just so you all can tell the differences - a top player that plays all things including infantry and air will have a KDR most likely somewhere between 3.0-4.0. These guys are the real heroes, not the ones with higher KDR or battle ranks. If you see higher KDRs, they're just a farmer sort of some kind without balanced gameplay. Check it out yourselves when you see very good infantry players that also fly.
  13. ViXeN

I'm pretty sure the leaderboard is bugged. LOL
  14. Dixa

you can't go by the in game leaderboards. they are bugged and frequently show 0 deaths on peopel who have 2k+ deaths on planetside universe
  15. Aghar30

leader boards are bugged, BR means **** all about play ability (eventually everyone will be BR 100), having a higher br just means more options not higher killing potential. And the guy with the crazy high KDR is just a lib gunner nothing more, his pilot probably is better skilled than he is.
  16. ShumaKun

My cpu is s*htty (Athlon x2 250) so I don't record my gameplay, you can report me if you want they will find nothing.
I was sniping in mani bio lab from good spot, but I think that whatever I say you will not believe me.
High BR means that someone is premium member oruse experience boost. I'm 33th in kills on my server leaderboard, but I'm far when you look at experience. I play 100% free, so I am sure of that
  17. SKYeXile

FPS experience is good to have in this, but i think MMORPG experience is best, better experience predicting players and a lot of experience in grinding and farming stuff that resembles NPC's.

this isnt a per session K/D this is a KD over time. sure you can have a really good session with one class and achieve a high KD, but to keep a KD of 41 over a long period of time is impressive.

From what i have gathered from this post is this

    1. yes its possible but only if you play a specific gamestyle
    2. you can pad your KD by exploiting, logging off or quitting if you think your going to die but theirs no proof or evidence of this happening
    3. you can achieve a high KD on the ground/air and in vehicles if you play a specific gamestyle (teamplay over solo play)
    4. no evidence of foulplay from the guy whos KD is in this thread, although i would love the guy to do some youtube videos to show us all how to do it. Plenty of people on his server vouching for him too. So Daddy gets to take this thread as a compliment to himself and to laugh at the jealous people in here :)

He is a rocket using Mossie pilot on Miller and I would say yes he is a good player but he never attacks he only defends so there is no AA/A2A threat for him. You will never find him in the middle of a large battle on the front lines. He farms sunderers and never destroys them and uses racer frame to dart back to the warpgate the instant you engage him in a dogfight.
  20. Valkar

Techniclly yes it is and he does this a lot but Ive seen many others doing it too, there is also an NC pilot on Miller called Muhahahaha who is similar except the guy pulls off some very strange moves which I am yet to decide if he has cracked the reaver (the only person ever to if he has) or if he is a hacker. Sadly due to the state of the game right now its easy to assume the worst but until I see something which I suspect is not possible I will give him the benefit of the doubt.
