I think this one's still playing, top 10 on his server. If you search his name on this forum you will see people have been both praising him for his skills and accusing him of hacks since at least december. I think it's interesting that he flies liberators and someone mentions he's actually flying coordinated with other players.

In a MMORPG that sort of thing would be a bannable offense, but this unfortunately is Planetside 2 where they'll always be innocent... and most players wouldn't be able to see the logic in that, too.

But anyway, I think if SOE's smart and not too apathetic they can suspend and then ban the obviously suspicious guy for exploiting or stat padding.
Smedley himself was boasting about banning a guy who spent a hundred bucks in SC on twitter. It can happen.

    Ever play Combat Arms?

Dude, did you skip all your math classes in school ? If someone makes a kill, then someone else will die, no matter what... so that will ALWAYS (!!!!) average at precisly 1. If you include suicides, then it becomes lower than 1.

Haha, this is happening so much more. See people just poof. (they logged out to avoid death). Seen infiltrators doing this recently.

It is faster then redeploy to warpgate, to get a vehicle or join up with rest of platoon on an OP but seems to be getting exploited.

Needs a timer, 10sec no combat action to logout like most MMO. Or the redeploy timer to logout?

The average K/D across the whole game has to be less than 1. Every time someone gets a K someone else ges a D, so 1 is as high as it could go. Add in suicides and TKs which don't count as a K for everyone and we're below 1.

wow, over 300 hours played and still not banned
  6. {joer

Dunno if "she" is still playing but she was for at least 2 months on our server.

If it was anything other than a reaver that killed him it might happen :p

    It's not a perfect screenshot.

What is a "vehicle mobility hack"?

    The commentary was entertaining.

This has been repeated many times and although it sounds convincing isn't necessarily true. A simple counter example:

Assume 10 people in the game. One player farms the other 9 ... killing them each 9 times. They never kill him. That player has a game calculated KDR of 81 (the game treats division by 0 as 1) and the other 9 players each have 0 KDR. The average KDR for those 10 players is 81/10 or 8.1 not 1.

Since population average is per player and not per kill/death pair a similar type of counterexample would hold on a larger population with more of a mix of kills and deaths. The fact that TK and suicides also count as deaths with no corresponding kill credit is another detail but not material to the counterexample.

    Watch that video.

No reason to be an uptight little ******, especially considering you are both incorrect.

The KDR for infantry would be less than 1, considering there are other variables: Mainly pilots and tanks. Also friendly fire.

The average KDR is not always 1.

The stat should be (Kills + assists)/deaths. Statistics in this game shouldn't be personal oriented, but team oriented. My K/D isn't large since I always run in teams.. but my assists is huge. And frankly, that is what I really care about.. contributing at a team level.. and if you are a medic/engy, it will skew those stats also. Me personally I just look at how many certs I'm earning.. but many folks care about K/D (I think mostly kids).. and since THAT is the case.. the stats should incent team goals, not personal ones.

    Just my 2 cents.

Your example where 1 person has all the kills, and 9 zero, is the ONLY case where the average wouldnt be 1... and who the hell do you know, that doesnt have a single kill?
Divide 10000 kills between 10 people in any combination, as long as they have at least 1 kill and death each (which EVERYONE has) and the average kdr will be 1...
  18. dough

    Division by zero is undefined.

Approaching a limit of division by zero shows infinity.

    Algebra vs. Calculus.
  19. Compass

The average KDR is less than 1. Suicides do not count as kills, but count as deaths. Assuming no one commits suicide, then KDR = 1. But people bail and crash and stuff of their own accord, and no one gets a kill credit for that.

Yeah, I know, I just blew your mind.
  20. Dragam

Thats just a 'minor' detail you forgot to include, that your 'great' logics about kdr, only included infantry...

Yes, kdr for infantry most like averages a good deal below 1... but include the entire player base, and only kills and death from enemy fire (no friendly deaths / suicides) and the average will be precisly 1.

If you include friendly deaths / suicides, then it falls below 1...
