337.88 Install or not to install that is the question

FPS is the same, I no longer have the black screen issues but the game does crash every couple of hours with no explanation.
  2. Keiichi25

The only other odd behavior I have seen is when I died at one point, the respawn screen would not come up, so I was forced to log out.

Well, for me these drivers were absolute horse ****. While I still get good FPS, and no more black screens, I'm having the game constantly lock up for ~3 seconds or so at a time. This is making flying almost impossible at times.
While this is happening it's like watching a slide show with half the slides missing, and basically having no input. I also get these screeching noises.

While Shadowplay now works, after saving a video I will get even worse stutter that will last 10 seconds or more.
At the moment I might as well be having the black screen that crashes Shadowplay. It's not like I can use it properly right now.

Of course this is just my experience. Others' may vary.

Its probably because of the new feature called Shader Cache.

Go figures. Its a very nice feature non the less, they should make more of these if possible.

Tested the new driver for about 10 hours and it seemed to fix the blackscreen for me and my wife. Neither one of us black screened. Drivers are much better.
  6. TRick Shot

Black screen fixed, but now when I restart, after "Loading Windows" my monitor looses connection to my PC for at least 30 seconds.

    Back to Beta drivers. :(

Well I take back what I said the other day - reinstalled the drivers yesterday and tried again, not expecting anything to change, but I was pleasantly surprised. No black screens, no hitches or anything.

Of course that could all change again tonight. We'll see.

I used to run with 331.82 on a single GPU. The new drivers fixed the SLI (heave frame drop and stuttering) but my 2 GPUs only uses half of their potential. BUT... now I have weird graphic glitches on the character selection screen (white artefact, character blinking) and on the map screens (names on the left side bar would just show Sunderer) and I could see the medic shields through the walls (not cool when using a magrider).

Interesting, I have the new drivers 337.88 and my SLI issue is not fixed. Adjusting the # of frames to pre-render, SLI bits mode via inspector's profile manager, etc. have not helped the stutter. Thankfully though, I don't have any of the artifacting issues you describe.

Setting pre-rendered frames to 1 does help to offload some of the work onto the GPU if you're CPU bound. I have noticed my frames go up with the new drivers on this setting, and in SLI mode I can sustain 80-100 fps in a 48+ biopharm but have to deal with micro-stuttering.

Still CPU bound in game even with just 1 gfx card.

I've not noticed my FPS going down since I was using 332.21, the ones after made my FPS go into the poop-end of the pool. 337.88 didn't make a dent in my FPS as far as I noticed. Black screen was fixed with this driver.

Also for those who die and their map screen doesn't show up, switch panes and go back to the map screen. It'll show up. That happened to me.
  11. Longasc

Didn't notice FPS drop/increase but it fixes the odd "freeze" that used to happen with previous drivers, so I recommend using this one.
  12. HLM

Performance has been.. OK I guess. I can't really remember what it was like before so can't make a good comparison. Main thing is the lack of black screens and driver crashes. Though I do occasionally still get nonsense like this:

  13. TeknoBug

If you play other games besides PS2, yes 337.88 is worth installing, but depending on what card you have you'll see an improvement or no imporvement. With my GTX750Ti and GTX770 I saw an improvement in most games but practically none with the GTX760.

You won't see that much with PS2 because it's heavily CPU bound.

    NVIDIA 337.88 driver?

OK I am not playing planetside right now, EYE was looking for information about this driver.

I do play other SOE games; and this driver was not ready for my computer, it has dropped me out of games and black screened a few times and other odd video. I have gotten the "Windows has recovered from a kernel error" message twice.

I post here because this is the first SOE forum I find with the poor NVIDIA 337.88 driver by name.

    Good Hunting.

As of two days ago, I'm having terrible issues on this driver. The likelihood is that it isn't being caused directly by it, since I tried rolling back with the same issues present, but a quick breakdown regardless:

-Game will hitch at any point during play (often at the point of reaching the deploy screen once logged in)
    -Blackscreen for several seconds
-Game reappears, often goes right back to hitching again
-Blackscreen, out to desktop, game still running, but cannot interact with PC (often shows that driver has recovered from crash)
-Has completely crashed on occasion, either CTD or on a black/bright green screen, no audio. Requires hard reset

So, these are the symptoms my setup has been dealing with. If anyone else has had the same sorts of issues over the last few days, I'd be interested to hear about it. This is more than a little gamebreaking, since it's so very unpredictable. Managed to get a good couple hours in earlier today, completely free of issues. Next login, all of the above. Same thing before that earlier in the day, too.

If more information is required, I'll provide it on request. Really, I just want to do a little detective work by finding others with similar issues.

    NVIDIA 337.88 driver?

Went to the trouble of making a CLEAN install and problems stopped, express automatic update did not work very good.

Did a manual update from the NVIDIA web site and did a clean install and problems seem resolved.
  17. JGDK

My game CTD after 45 min almost everytime i play.
No errors at all, sometimes the screen freezes for a couple of secunds, and then CTD.

The crashes usually appears, when i changes view in vehiacles. Or go to MAP screen.

I tried out the 337.88 and 332.21 on a fresh install af both Win7 and 8.1 pro. But it didnt solve the crashing problem.

Anyone with the same CTD problem?

    My specs are:

    4770K (no-oc)
    GTX 770
    16 HyperXbeast 2400Mhz
    Samsung pro 256gb
    Windows 8.1 Pro

Still getting some blackscreens. Seems randomly. Dont understand what happens the last months to the damn drivers.
  19. Kirppu1

This is extremely wierd i have pretty much the same set up and i am getting same crap.... Uninstalling the drivers from Safe-mode have been helping, but still it's unacceptable. Also i have run all stress testers without crashing. It crashed once with too high OC, but once i reverted to default and no more crashing, so that was different.

    Another try:

    - Nvidia System Settings > manage 3D settings > manage power/energy > max power

    +

    - threaded optimizing: on

Works for me for 2 days now. Sorry for the bad translation, its in german on my system.
