    “BLOODHAWKS”

The 17th Fighter Squadron is a Terran Republic outfit on the Waterson server (US East). We are dedicated to the employment of the Mosquito Empire Strike Fighter with plans to incorporate the Liberator Gunship at a later date. We work to replicate the sense of professionalism and camaraderie found in real-world combat aviators while keeping the entire experience accessible, casual, and most of all enjoyable. By employing specific tactics and communications protocols we are able to swiftly project air dominance to any location on Auraxis.

The outfit has a number of active and retired military personnel, including the current Squadron Commander who flew combat sorties over Iraq and Afghanistan. Make no mistake: we are not a "military simulation" outfit. There are no mundane tasks or formalities to follow (such as addressing other pilots by rank, or saying sir and ma'am). We strive to promote a family atmosphere with a goal of making each new member feel like they are a critical part of our organization.

We do not have any firm time commitment requirements. Our planned operations and day-to-day flying are designed so that pilots can suit up, check in, and get into the action as quickly as possible. When its time to leave, its as simple as checking out of the operation and landing your bird. We do not penalize for early departures and firmly uphold the idea that real life should always come first.

We believe in learning by doing. You will not be drowned in hours of boring, useless instruction. All of our training programs are designed to have a direct impact on what you do in-game. Much of our instruction is done in the cockpit and focuses on arming a pilot with the tools they need to fly efficiently and safely. You'll acquire communication and situational awareness skills that will allow you to effortlessly transmit critical information not only with your wingman, but with other flights as well. As you learn and develop your own flying style, you'll have the opportunity to share your tricks of the trade with the rest of the squadron as well as glean from what they have learned.

Best of all, you'll never have to fly alone. Our combat doctrine emphasizes flying with a wingman and working directly with other flights to overwhelm and eradicate enemy air threats and support our brave Republic soldiers on the ground. Our Teamspeak 3 server is set up where you have access to multiple voice channels so you can discuss strategy with your wingman without "walking on" someone's comm transmission. Our organized events will feature a mission controller who will direct pilots to areas needing air support based on intelligence in the Leader and Order channels -- that leaves you free to focus on the fight and having fun!

In addition to a one-of-a-kind "casually serious" flying experience for pilots of all skill levels, we also take time to enjoy the rest of the game as well. We host special operations (we call them "No Fly" days) that focuses the entire squadron on getting their boots dirty. From Prowler columns to Galaxy infantry drops, every event will be themed and centered around a specific part of the game. Its the perfect chance to try out that MAX you've never touched, or wipe the dust off your Light Assault's jet pack all while working as a team!

Here is what we offer to our members:
    • An experience focused around flight and working with your wingmen.
    • An administration that is active, vocal, and passionate about the squadron.
    • A mature, tight-knit atmosphere where each individual is important.
    • Training that is meaningful to how you fly and work with others.
    • No time commitment requirements or "alarm clock" operations.
    • Regularly scheduled sorties for both weekday and weekend players.
    • Opportunities for advancement, recognition, and additional responsibility.
    • Clean, no-frills website that is easy to use and navigate.
    • A Teamspeak 3 server specifically set up for flight operations.
    REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN
    • Be 18 years of age or older.
    • Working mic and headset.
    • Teamspeak 3 installed and operational.
    • No VS or NC characters on Waterson.
    • Mosquito Passive Systems — Acquisition Timer
    • Mosquito Utility Slot — Decoy Flares 1
    • Mosquito Secondary Weapon — Hellfire Rocket Pods OR Tomcat A2AM Pods
Our goal is to become a premier fighter squadron that is respected by allies and enemies alike. Join the fight to unite Auraxis!

This sounds like a great deal of fun! I just started playing a few days ago, and was immediately attracted to piloting Mosquitos. They're much more fun in groups.
  3. Wesrin

@Kyprioth -- Yep! We think it'll be a great concept, though there's still quite a bit to iron out. Feel free to contact me in-game or send me a direct message here on the forums if you want to know more.

  7. Cortoll

Not the greatest pilot out there, but it's always good to fly with a wingman. And 17th is where to find someone to cover your six.
  8. BlueColour

Where is a link to the Teamspeak 3 server address?
  9. Wesrin

    @BlueColour

Teamspeak 3 access is granted to members once they've been recruited; we do not allow guests to log in on their own at this time. If you'd like to chat with an officer (currently just myself at the moment), you can get a hold of me in-game or drop me a PM here on the PS2 forums or the Bloodhawk's forums and we can get you set up with a temporary password.
  10. Wesrin

We've already got a number of applications in, but the 17th still needs pilots of all skill levels to fill its ranks! Contact me in-game as Hambone, or leave me a PM on our website at www.17fs.enjin.com if you have more questions!
  11. Wesrin

We've gotten in some quality new recruits! Will you make the cut? Find out and submit an application!

I am fairly new to piloting in PS2. But these are a great bunch of guys, very fun to fly with and just have a laugh.

If your looking for a great time and piloting in PS2 seems fun to you, then the 17th is the place to be

  18. Kyprioth

I joined a few days ago. It's the most fun I've had in the game. They're the most coordinated and talented group of people I've ever played an FPS with. Whether we're groundpounding in small squads or dominating the skies, these guys know how to have fun.
  19. Wesrin

We've got some new blood, but we're still looking for more pilots! Don't miss out on the opportunity to apply! Our recruitment will be closing February 2nd as we begin to spin up training and operations.
  20. Wesrin

If you've been on the fence about joining a small but active group of qualify people, get off it! Submit an application today. Seven days remain until our doors close for initial training, team-building, and organization.
