Joining a team in Planetside2 can be difficult, either the teams are too few in number or they're on another map Hossin etc; and your comfortable playing on another map, there should be a checkbox during the loading screen to ask or reasonably "force suggest" people that their dumb as sh.. if they don't go on a team like they do with BAD company2 and alot other DICE games, seems to work for them to get campers playing normally like they should... all i'm saying is other game industries deploy such tactics to minimize camping and get more team play out of the sessions & it shows to work, nothing but selfish players in BadCompany 2 with the steamSale just now yet they mostly team play as a unit...
Also, 'Insert' is hardly difficult, and defaults to joining the closest squad/platoon that is open to instant join members closest to wherever you are. (so go where you want to fight before hitting 'Insert' obviously) I use it all the time actually lol
