[Suggestion] BFRs and a Bigger tank?

Leviathin would be a good name for a global use BFR or tank Bigger than the Colossus?

Sunderers can transform, we should have a BFR/tank be able to transform too.

Maybe the BFR should be called the Leviathin as it can transform (more capabilities)?

The big BFR would not be OP because air, other armor, and C4 fairies would destroy it fast therefore it shouldn't cost much more than the Colossus. Maybe 20 Purple or 15 Purple and 50 Blue.

Doesn't Daybreak Games own Mechwarrior? Should bring people from there to help develop for Planetside 2 so we can have some Mech battles like in that game.

What they could do is to introduce empire specific mechs

A fast mech with light, high RPM autocannons for the TR
A slower mech with better armor and slow firing, high calibre guns for the NC
A mech that has something like PPC's and a balance between speed and armour for VS

(Maybe not in Mechwarrior size but a bit bigger than the Colossus to make them viable targets)

no, Microsoft own the IP ... PGI which has been bought up by EG7 merrily have a licence for a few years

except that I-V-A balance has been horrible for years, medics and infils still lacking any sort of their own AV capability and infantry getting shredded with Hesh rounds ...
BFRs as far as i heard detroyed planetside 1 ballance ...

Aircontrols with ESF are still horrible so rather the minority elite masochists are using it ..
also just because other armor exist deosn´t mean infantry can´t or shouldn´t get better AV capability ..
Infantrysurviveability outside of bases is still superbad ...

the question however still is what´s the mainrole of the BFR supposed to be compared to the collosus other than bring it in for coolnessfactor? the collosus already is able to take the role of a siege-, defensive and spawnplattform ...
at best BFRs might be an anti PMB platform but for that PMBs need to be more resilient, especialy with oshur

if we talk about bringing in battletech battlemechs that shouldn´t be to huge they would just need to look no further than light or medium mechs as those are still rather small compared to heavy mechs and Assaultclass ... also thing is unlike Mechwarrior 1 to 4 PGI with MW:O and 5 scaled the mechs up quite a bit ... an annihilator 100 ton Assaultmech f.e. is supposed to be arround 12 meters tall, in MW:O it´s like 18 to 20 meters tall ... otherwise they could take a look on WH 40K Tau battlesuits which are much smaller

The Hunter CQX crossbow with explosive bolts is a surprisingly good AV weapon, I probably killed more ground vehicles as medic with that than with rocket/missile launchers

doesn´t mean other infantry classes (maybe with the LA as exception) couldn´t get access to AV grenades and Infils/medics access to a Rockletrifle as primary ..
i use the explosive Hunter as my go to secondary on my egineer but it´s still only realy tickeling armor ..
the engineer at least has access to the AV Turret though becoming stationary and could access AV grenades through ASP (which is subotimal imho) but medics and infils basicaly have nothing else to contribute in outside battles against armor ...
medics at the very least should have some basic defense, infils could get a more specops style AV loadout were i don´t think they would be OP

I'm with the slayer on this one.

If your BFR is just a giant middlefinger to Lightnings and MBT's it doesnt really fulfill a role. The Colossus is a big relatively slow vehicle which was designed as an AA platform against Bastions, so it was nerfed on the outset. Its vulnerability to C4 is only for Engineers with it who dedicate themselves to an attack, and the size of the Colossus make spotting the Engi in time harder. Without a OHK on the vehicle the chances of survival are tremendous.
So a BFR would be OP as all F. A smaller frame to attach C4 to means it can get away from a C4 engi quickly and survive.

The BFR also needs some design considerations: it needs to be small enough to duck under vehicle gate shields (or crouch underneath them). That means it's maximum height is a Sunderer, or if you want it to crouch underneath and the legs to be reasonably designed then you could get away with maaaybe 1.25 sunderer heights as the legs collapse beneath it but the torso is ridgid.
If its taller, it becomes useless on Hossin and can be severely limited in mobility in many regions of other continents like Amerish.

Instead the BFR shouldnt be an OP MBT, because we shouldnt shoehorn in stuff from PS1 just because it was in PS1. It should fulfill its own Niche in the game. I always think the other side of the MAX would be a cool place to start. The MAX is more infantry than vehicle, a BFR would be more vehicle than MAX. infantry turning, aiming and stabilization (so walk up a slope and your torso and aim remains horizontal) but you can enter/exit like a vehicle and its sprint speed needs a moment before it reaches maximum speed. The turning and aiming could have a limited speed as well so you cant 180 on a dime and need a bit more situational awareness to deal with enemies on your flanks and rear.
With the maximum size of a Sunderer it wouldnt be too big and it could fight inside bases and steep hillsides where normal vehicles cant maneuver that well.
The BFR could be similar in health and resistances of the (old!) Harassers. 2 C4 blow it up or put it at very low health, concentrated small-arms and infantry AV are a serious threat especially if you fire from a window where the BFR cant aim easily and the lower velocity and you dont have an instant escape button like the Harasser. It also means the BFR would struggle against vehicles out in the open, and would need vehicle support of its own or to use cover like infantry do to combat vehicles.
Weapons wise it could still be immensely powerful: modified ESF weapons. No aircraft could ever complain about a ground unit using a Noseguns to take them down as its a skillful and they cant ever catch up with them, only hope the aircraft stray in their path. The weaknesses of the BFR would be compensated by such weapons. The "modified" comes in with some ESF weapons because they would be blatantly OP. They are already OP on aircraft so placing them in ground units wouldnt exactly be great. Like Rocketpods which are already very powerful AV weapons despite being supposedly AI and it would be way too OP to have them obliterating infantry while peeking corners (and laughably, it would be easier to deal with that than with ESF).

This creates a unique vehicle designed for combined arms: its too vulnerable for solo deployment against other infantry or vehicles but a potent weapon to support vehicles against C4 fairies, Harassers and aircraft while also being a powerful support tool for infantry to use against vehicles and aircraft.

BFRs were easily one of the worst things about PS1 after the Core Combat expansion. There is no good reason to bring them back now.

There should be a whole development division to include mechs where they aren't too OP and keeps the balance. A couple weakpoints that could be destroyed to Increase HP damage like how headshots works instead of having the whole Hull mass as 1 HP.

There are ways to make this balanced.

There could also be special weapons that do bonus damages to the mechs. Tertiary fire has still yet to be implemented.

Battlefield 2142 has shown BFRs to be balanced in an FPS game.

BFRs can be balanced if they can't be repaired by anybody. There should be more added to the game that has them to be repaired like a new vehicle and new tools to select this way not everyone can just Mass repair it like how ejection seat is an optional capability on ESFs.

The Planetside 2 pop might not be enough to warrant such development though but perhaps if AI bots were added like how Titanfall is though I prefer fighting real players all the time. Maybe if a Starship Troopers style map were to exist.. we can have a full-scale warfare base defense that would be super epic to play. It's amazing how Left 4 Dead 2 has like 20k concurrent players and that has been out for at least a Decade. Perhaps we need to zombie maps for people to play to co-op.
