[Suggestion] Dont hate the Seeker because of its poor delivery, love it for the potential it has for the game!

    aight so i see so many complaints about the seeker, which i find beyond my comprehension.. for so long we´ve been stuck in boreing doorfights - 2 rooms, 1 door, 130 people (yet somehow only 4 people are shooting at a time? the f* is that for a supposed FPS game? everyones just watching, like a theater..


    The Crossbow in your hands
    then we get the crossbow which is drastically different than other weapons, and very unique, in a category of its own, seemingly almost even specialised for minefields and drifters and fast paced gameplay, suddenly we have minefields and drifters and people sitting in the trees and for once im not stuck looking at butt of the 30 people in front of me in the line for shooting 3 bullets in the doorway before i die and go back in the line

    Minefields: if u ask me it makes the base feel a whole lot more alive that theres areas camped by a couple of crossbowers laying down a bright exlposive and beautyful minefield that nobody can cross alive, makes u think a little more instead of just always running in a straight line with 10% chance of getting sniped in the face (the chance of which u never have any chance of improving or reducing cause theres just no logic to it, but u can with the crossbow rather easily

    drifters: has anyone acturally tried being a drifter? it sucks ***.. or well, it did, now u can acturally hit something, ur not stuck with a 1940´s gun without any accurary or anything that could potentially assist with the lowered accuracy - perhaps 100% perfect aim isnt the only solution but i really do love the low spread and explosions, coupled with drifting over the roofs - i find its in a great place for it now, where its seriously dangerous to just start drifting around without any thought, given ur littereally in the middle of everything, but also 10 meters in the air.. everyones looking at your and u died 10 minutes ago, but still worth while if u use a brain a little, and take short trips ect.

    it really seems to annoy people when its in the enemies hands dosnt it?.. seems to me, 50% of the people complaining just arent thinking at all, and are angry the usual doorfighting isnt happening anymore which is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay beyond me, its so boring and destroyed the game, why would anyone want to go back to that? we finally got a chance at getting out of it now

    the other 50% complains about a bunch of things, but really i think it just comes down to the fact its new, theres an event making everyone use it, when the event is over its not gonna be a problem for anyone anymore


    Everyones using it, which is why people are annoyed
    i think its understandable with everyone using explosive bullets all the time its annoying, but daybreak forced that by haloween - not by the crossbow itself, if EVERYONE wasnt using it ALL THE TIME for their directives, then it wouldnt be a problem


    Why it works so well for planetside 2
    its a really great weapon with very few flaws, thats perfectly balanced between assult rifles and snipers - and also shakes up the meta of the game so its not just doorfights only - now its running around in bases trying to take sqaure feet at a time pushing towards flags and sometimes losing the gained ground too, infantry is finnally fun to play.

    - it has less dps than most weapons, the user is often in stupidly dangerous positions in order to use it, and its usually just comes down to who sees who first, like most fights..

    running around a conor, a meeting an enemy, the crossbow always loses, unless the other guy´s pretty bad

    sniping, the crossbows pretty great at that, far from the best, far from the worst, pretty in the middle with a little bonus - in the sense that: it beats all full auto weapons, but loses to scout and sniper rifles - it still works deppending on a bunch of stuffs.. if u find a road enemies wanna pass, u typically wanna look for a spot, around 50-75 meters away, where it gets difficult for the typical close range weapons, but not too far so its an actural sniper spot cause then.. the snipers oneshot which is 10000 times better.. so u find the sweet spot in between, u also need enough space that u hit him 2 times, and u probably gonna miss one of them, but then if u have explosions or lightweight u either
    explosions: have explosions, making it 1 hit, 2 almost hits requireing a fair distance for him to run, so u cant just pick any spot, mainly roads are good for this if u can find one enemies will pass and a proper spot to camp it from
    lightweight: making it easier to aim, but also harder than explosions, but also gives u the option of camping less open areas if u can aim it well


    Why the crossbow could save planetside 2
    everyones says it gonna kill the game, but it could be the first item in a long list that stops the already died for a reason died-game from being anywhere near dead. we just need it to not be the only thing thats standing out, and working, have it come full circle


    all in all i think they should be very carefun when nerfing the crossbow as it will quickly change the game back to doorfights which is why(i think) the game died in the first place, and if u like doorfights so much, i dont see why u joined an "open world" game in the first place when CSGO is so popular and has plenty camping doors already - please dont destroy the crossbow, instead keep pushing out new and unique weapons that adds more flare to the battleground. we need more action, less doorfights. more options - focus more on the circle of counters, rather than nerfing everything to theground so hard, theres nothing useful or fun and we just get stuck in stupid doorfights - the crossbow is what planetside 2 should had been from the beginning - a sci-fi, action packed, tactical first person shooter with thought about the differences in each battle and how to overcome them with useful and crazy stuffs instead of just a boring doorfight where littereally nothing matters..(u died? revived -- u wanna kill someone? okay but.. theres 30 people shooting at the ground in front of the door.. so u died.. however it dosnt matter cause, revived).. let it stay and lets instead cry for a new awesome weapon that can deal with the pesky snipers everywhere - and then a couple new guns to counter the crossbow and anti sniper gun, and then keep heading the road of adding actural specialised weapons (with a bit of the awesome sci-fi stuffs too given thats the theme of the game but everythings littereally below 1940 real life technology



    TL-DR: the crossbow changes the game alot, its only a problem cause its the only really unique weapon that havent been nerfed soooooooooo hard into the ground nobody used it for 5 years, and more of weapons like that, is gonna save the game from dying again because theres no action, just doorfights where everyones shooting the floor (just in case someone might be stupid enough to peak through all that gunfire)

    yeah yeah The Great New Player Experience: out of the spam room - boom, boom, you're dead. Going to the point building - boom, boom, you're dead. And so on. For the most of the bases there are no other ways to get to the point without running open areas (the farmfields).
    If Seeker is good then flying hesh lightning would be good too. Why not ?

    i never ever had this problem ever. not once.. i go "oh theyre busy shooting the opening, ill use thedoor and capture the house next to this so we can move on" orsomething like that

    and if u read anything i wrote u would know that already cause its simply not a problem unless u make it a problem by thinking "nah explosions dont hurt me" - it just makes it worth it to capture a house instead of A B & C making it much more fun to play

    Do you mean "capture a house" is a more fun than capturing A&B&C ? That is a new look to the game objectives :)))

    possibly, but if new players are stupid enough to think they cant die to explosions and therefor keep running out on the same small minefield 50 times in a row, he should be dying nonstop and never getting a kill... idk anything that could make such bad players have a chace without utterly destroying anything in the game...

    as i said, any other weapon has higher dps, or if u use a sniper does double the dmg and oneshots, i win 90% of the fights where i dont get caught by suprise from the crossbower - and im using a normal weapon

    well, to be fair having any base completely surrounded by mountains is a MASSIVE mistake.. it breaks all flow of combat, makes it infantry only and even then with mountains all around.. u cant leave any building without 10 snipers watch you - or now 10 snipers/crossbowers... just remove amerish, its a stupid map with 0 thought on what the the effect of letting anyone walk in the sky and still have cover would do to a fight xd




    and i mean before it was boring as heck, u never achieved anything, u just ran in a straight line for 2 minutes, then afk in a stupid doorfight for 30 minutes - where as now, u can capture anything, and its gonna have an effect on the entire battle, now if u capture a house (i know it sounds kinda stupid) u get more area to move in without instantly dying by running into 30 people by yourself, which is a nice change

    before it was just csgo de_dust2 doubledoors ONLY - now theres a big battle everywhere

    Two bodyshot kill at battle rifle range (with battle rifle accuracy) without muzzle flash and almost invisible tracers? Yeah no, the pre-nerf Seeker is absolutely broken and cancerous. We'll see what post-Hotfix seeker is like.

    i didnt say it was perfect, but given all the hate its gotten somebody needs to say something about its good sides as the devs are going good updates that are acturally removing the parts of the game that is killing it so hard - but if all the devs hear is **** cause this and that and everyone has 1 thing they dislike when in reality the reason its hated isnt that 1 thing everyone thinks but makes the dev think

    "oh too much power - and also too much mag size - and also no bullet tracer - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also - and also " and now u gotta mega bright flares that light up the entire battlefield, but also dosnt have gravity(reason for this being, they fly 0.5 meters per second, so any gravity would essentailly just drop it at ur feet no matter how high you aim) - oh and also it only does 50 dmg - and then we´re back at doorfightining forever and ever, or well not cause the game will die tomorrow xd

    but game just went live so lets go check it out :D might be in a good place still - but i sure agree with a few changes like the tracers(how can a bolt of energy be invisible.. we´re not shooting black holes xD tho.. maybe we should? :D


    Edit: f* me splitbolt and areolight is completely useless now lol.. this is what i meant when i said "and also and also" - aerolight only reduces damage making it completely useless and theres not a single instance ever where it would ever make the crossbow better, and same goes for splitbolt, not at all anything like it sounds, just a noob-bait trap to waste all your hard earned certs... but at least explosive bolts are still pretty much exactly the same.. just sucks they had to limit it to only explosive bolts..

    The only good thing about the crossbow is that it has helped to illuminate how OP it is to not need to reload.

    This thing should get 3 shots in a mag and then need to reload,
    we shouldn't have people aiming at chokepoints and just spamming it forever.

    I get that the world needs glass-half-full guys to offset us salty vets,
    But you're defending a 40 round per mag explosive hipfire sniper rifle...
    At some point even you folks need to just admit when something is just a huge colossal f**k up.

    no im not, i think the crossbow was op given everything, but only because everythings only going down the nerf road which makes it less and less action and tactical and fun and well.. everything good really.. but just nerfing the crossbow again to continue the cycle forever and ever is a horribly bad idea.. instead, we could suck up the crossbow and spam "give us counters!" and then when the counters get too op we ask for counters to the counters and in a couple of months, the crossbow wont be op, it will just be op in 1 way, but bad in 100 others like everything should be - and we could have a much more fun game i think

    also 40 rounds without a reload isnt that op.. but it really was for this type of weapon and i agree that should had been changed, however it should still be a useful weapon.. instead of utterly destroying it in every possible way (except explosive bolts for some reason.. they just forced everyone to wear flak armor instead which is VERY limiting and just keeps slowing down the game more and more.. still) - i think they should try putting a heat mechanic, 5 shots, reduce explosion minimum damage to 25 and wait until the event was over to see how it would fit in when directives didnt "force" everyone to spam it everywhere till they completed them and its more "just a weapon u may or may not want to use"

    Countering cancer with more cancer won't make you healthy again...
    It will make your health worse.

    When everyone has moved on from using something ridiculously OP
    because there are 12 other even more ridiculously OP things it won't make the game better,
    it'll make it way, way worse.

    When we stop using explosive sniper rifles because Wrel adds auto-homing oneshot missile launchers
    the game would be pretty much f**ked.

    I agree with like, half of your logic, maybe even 75%. While I don't agree that "doorfights" take up 80% of the game and only about 4 people are ever able to shoot at a time, I do agree that the crossbow seems to change up the way people play. Look at what a LA can do now! Save for the drifting and sniping from the air, they can fly up to a tree and start sniping people. It teaches a whole group of people to play another way. New weapons that change the game won't "save" this game, no, but new players learning to play a new way will. That's what we need in this game - variation.

    We need the game to be played differently. We need to completely change the meta, whatever that may be. Why? Because it will force every player to be on another level of "new player." Sure, their aim will still be better and so will their decision-making, but a complete change will force players to learn. I don't mean completely nerfing everything that has ever been good, but rather, let's create a change to the way some things that are too good and too much of a go-to choice work. Let's change the way mechanics are being implemented into the game, and the way existing mechanics that are too controversial work. And more than this, let's teach new players how to become, not better at Planetside, but better at gaming. Let's build a better gamer.

    well, to be fair i agree, but i mostly play infantry, only using vehicles for missions or supporting my infantry gameplay, which pretty much is only: sniping, knifing as infitrator, and X

    X being everything in the game ranging from sitting in trees to just playing normal cs 1.6, but then when a team comes near a flag, which they do fairly fast, the flag is almost always inside a small or medium sized room where it just turns into spamming an empty doorway with bullets and grenades (revive and frag(haloween atm)) and theres never really any way to see inside execpt the floor right in front of the door so people just shoot for 10-30 minutes because everything that allowed people to push through before was removed from the game so nobody goes anywhere near the door where they might die and just sit back and trade grenades which has like.. no chance of wiping the room out which is why it takes so long everytime and it just kills the gameplay..

    and i never understood why anyone would ever to nerf anything(almost, rarely but sometimes u make a full auto sniper that oneshots people in the feet with a 100 round mag), when instead new stuff can be added, making it kinda like MOBA games, everyones OP, making nobody OP.. it just deppends on if your trying to heal a tank to death, or sneaking up and assassinating a sniper making most of the difference, let people play to their advantage, good aim? oneshot people in the face. - your tactical? shoot everyone in the back instead - quick reaction speed? jump small gaps as LA with the old "OP" crossbow and hope your fast enough to outgun the 10 people under you - great at imagining bullets path? spam snipe flying LA´s and just have a bunch of counter pickables against everything so people dont get so offended at a 2shot crossbow, they just pick a sniper with a laser-guided missle shot and guide it to their faces - could had been such an epic game if they did that instead

    Its because the only constant would be character HP. Say everything kills in 1 hit. Well, now everything is somewhat balanced, I guess, now it just really depends on ranges. But the problem would then be the pace of the game. Every engagement ends instantly. Now make everything kill slow with roughly the same TTKs, but different ranges. Well now every engagement is too long and no one person makes a difference. So you have to find a middle ground where one person can make a difference but not too big of a difference that they are unkillable. In a game like Planetside 2, you need to make sure that a small group can still take on a larger group and win if they are good enough, smart enough, craft enough, whatever enough. You want the larger group to win more often because that makes sense, but still allow players to impact a battle regardless of the amount of players there are. So yes, you can have one OP thing and keep on adding more OP things to balance it, then buff anything that isn't OP to be on par with that, but your health will remain a constant, and that alone will change how the game is played. Its all about time. Always has been.

    highly agree, that the solution isnt just making stuff more op forever and ever until looking at someone kills them and everything u said, but i feel the problem is that right now infantry is pure ak47´s or weapon that work just like weapons we could make 40 years ago, which makes the numbers matter waay too much, if they added a bunch of things that might be a little too op, or a little too weak, or just perfect, people will complain yes, just like the crossbow(which i think was 100% perfect, except maybe they should add a very bright and obvious tracer to it so u cant hide while using it (unless u use infiltrator cloak to move after a couple shots and being very mobile still), adding more things like that makes room for errors in the numbers, so

    sure, crossbow might have 50% bonus(if we can pretend we can put a number like tht on it) on suprising people and killing them - but thumper only has a 40% bonus at aoe damage, and knives get a 30% bonus at knifing - nothings perfectly balanced, which right now if theres 1 thing just a bit off everyones whining like crazy, but if u have tons of mechanics through different classes, weapons and utilities and forcing a more counterplaying meta that 50% bonus on the crossbow isnt that much because theres a weapon that counters it with 60% and 4 others at 55-40% bonuses at something thats good vs crossbowers/flyers or something which also makes somewhat of a harder to use arsenal as well which might help equalise skilllevels a bit, cause people with the very best aim will probably not want to use laser guided sniper missiles to instead rely more on feeling the bullets the path, than having the crosshair pixel perfect - but i dont think everything should oneshot, tho i really wouldnt mind we lost maybe 200-300 hp and boosting damage on thumper and stuffs a little (2 thumpers right next you - 4-5 bullets in the chest with an assult rifle, making it more of a i see you first, or i have some advantage like only peaking with the tumper and 2 fingers so gl hitting my fingers)

    u said before u dont think new weapons could revive the game, however i think 50 new weapons and adding more differences and utilities for classes - it´d sure take a long time to add so much yes, but i think it would quickly change the downwards going trend in players and slowly grow it and before u know it, 2 years passed and the games never been more alive xd
