Implement environmental conditions like thick fog, rain storms on Amerish, blizzards on Esamir, and sand storms on Indar that occur randomly from time to time, but not close to one another in terms of time intervals and distance.

This'll create more chaos for players and commanders to feel more immersed into. Commanders can launch attacks on bases during sandstorms that hinder the visibility of the defenders. And then the defenders can equip infrared sights on infantry and vehicle weapons to see through sandstorms and such. This will make players reconsider which weapons to take into firefights.

I could be wrong, but did they not already try that with Esamir? Did not the random lightning storm simply kill fights wherever it went?

How would weather affect performance of low end PCs? Would it cause the game to lag so much as to be unplayable?

How would low settings affect weather visibility? Already have people turning down some settings to make it real easy to spot people. If they could do that to weather then having the weather would be a disadvantage. If not the weather could render the game unplayable for low end machines.

If it can be circumnavigated by the end user, via various means, what's the point in it?

If you think you're covered by X yet the guy looking right at you can see straight through X it's a waste of effort.

We already see this with cloaks showing differently on different user setups.
