WREL LISTENS TO US - LMAFO

I came across this jewel, that pretty much restates everything I've said numerous times:

So according to Wrel, he listens to us - yet never reads the dedicated forums - and changes things based on our feedback - yet never does. I'm really unsure how he thinks. We have people testing on PTS - the devs beg us to do so - THEN THEY GO AHEAD AND PUSH THE BROKEN UPDATE ANYWAYS! Based on years of feedback, the only thing he comes up with is ways to add more cancer that no one asked for, and skips the most important things that need to be done?

    NEW PLAYER EXPERIENCE?

    BUG FIXES?

    CIA REBALANCING???

Preaching about how the game needs new players, then he does everything to further destroy the new player experience??? So he doesn't want to listen to the veterans who stick around, and doesn't want to do anything for new players - seriously you're gonna charge such steep prices for half-a$$ed campaigns you said were oriented to new players???? How does that even make sense?????????????

You have more feedback than any other game could ask for. LISTEN TO US!!!! We tell you to go right, and you go all ahead left - and then say you're open to suggestions and listen to our feedback. It's unbelievable! I honestly don't know if he's lying or if he's just too blind to see anything but ffs. Every patch he says he listens to community feedback - says he wants it - then pushes it unfinished, doesn't follow a single suggestion and never goes back to fix it on live.

This year is one of the worst years for Planetside. No one wants to play the game anymore. New players obviously don't last more than 10 minutes (and you've never done anything to fix that like all the suggestions you made in you old old videos), and the veterans are tired that each patch is just adding more game breaking cancer.

We can deal with a few bugs, but constantly adding stuff to kill fights or delete enjoyable gameplay is just too much for us to take. As I've said countless times before, focus on finishing some new continents, improve performance and fix bugs. Don't bother adding useless stuff no one wants, an dthen act like you're willing to build on our feedback.

Seriously, I challenge him to list 3 examples of where the devs listened to our feedback before pushing out broken cancer to live servers. You know what, only ONE example will do. Feel free to respond once you're carefully read my feedback as I'm sure you always do.

Maybe ask him where he gets his information from?

It could be that we are suffering from confirmation bias. "Oh my god I didn't like that and one of my friends didn't so now everyone has to have disliked it!". Unfortunately I think that it's Wrel who's doing exactly that. It's a small wonder that "teamwork" equates to an entire outfit working for one massive killfarm vehicle that only a tiny portion of the outfit can actually enjoy.

So if we knew where he gets his information from that would be great! And "just reading the forums/reddit/twitter" would not qualify for a full Developer that has to actually do full research into the subject to get an idea of what and how his game is working. You have to be able to see why players are saying something isn't fun, and then solve that problem. Because players might think they know what is wrong, they often propose just as horrible idea's as Wrel does. Only difference is that Wrel actually got to push his changes down our throats, unlike most of the other players on forums.

'WREL' probably would be more likely to listen if you 'old salty dogs' were a little more tackful in the way these subjects are approached.
Steaming in like you frankly do is just not going to get the desired result.
Yes, I realise I'm stepping on dangerous ground with the 'old salty dogs' remark.
    Forgive my indulgence.
    Here is some advice..
    1. Approach the person who you wish to communicate with in a friendly manner.
    2. Begin a conversation about something they like. Maybe cats?
    3. Strike up a common interest. Maybe cats?
    4. Then go in for the kill in a polite and considerate way.

Ok, maybe I'm being (put in your own word here)
However I do think you approach 'Wrel' in an unkind and thoughtless way sometimes.
Just bear in mind all the hard work and sleepless nights these guys (the Devs) put in for you before slamdunkin them.

I've started with kindness, and I've even seen idea's I proposed added to the game! Completely ripped apart and ruined because they wanted to promote something. Even when the devs are warned that something very obvious will happen, such as the Outfit update causing outfits to deliberately seed ground to recapture it or stabbing allied outfits in the back by letting the enemy take their territory before zerging it not to mention just how it promotes zerging and avoiding fights, they ignore it. In some cases they'll see that it goes so badly at live that they'll change it... A little.

The sense of scope, the cause and effect of each change, seems to be totally out of their ability to understand. You don't promote Outfits by hanging a giant carrot that functions as a massive stick to anyone not in an outfit, you promote Outfits by making it easy for players to find people who they want to form an outfit with. To add teamwork at the most basic levels of the game so that players will be working together all the time, and if they find people they like that they'll solidify that with an Outfit. Instead we get "BIG BASTIONS ARE COOL LET'S LET OUTFIT LEADERS GET 400+ KILLSTREAKS OVER THE BACKS OF THEIR MEMBERS BY RIGHT-CLICKING THE MAP THAT'S TEAMWORK ALLRIGHT!".

we tried that about 40 bad changes ago...
go back to 2016 and you'll see concise polite warnings from me about why [bad change] is harmful to the game.
but they just ignore us and make the bad changes anyway...

so there comes a point where you just have to call an idiot an idiot and scream at him to STOP RUINING OUR GAME.

this game is currently nothing more that Wrels little experiment, his plaything to do with as he wishes...
no matter how ret@rded his ideas are, he'll force them in, f%%k the players.
i've poured too many hours and far too much cash into this game to quietly watch it get s%%t on and ruined
by the "lead designer" who was hired because he used to make weapon review videos on youtube...
with zero experience at game development.

this guy needs to go, and all of his s%%ty changes need to be reverted.

The lack of self-awareness in Wrel's response even managed to deflate my usual sense of undeserved optimism. Oof.

welcome! took me a few years to realise.
years ago i actually referred to Wrel as "Our Lord and Savior"
because hey, he was a good youtuber, i thought it was gonna be great...

That dude Wrel is so fragile. Worrying about $ hit talking, when everyone can see that it's only $ hit talking banter.

Never trust a white collar worker wearing a bandanna. Truth.

A part of me feel sorry for the man. He went from a creatively free environment and could focus purely on suggestions for improving the game to having to make way for financial decisions while steering a small team undertaking a very ambitious project. Leading PS2 would be a challenge for even an experienced lead designer since there isn't really any best practices or industry standard to fall back on.

It was very much a sink or swim kind of moment. Given his mention of backtalk and such I also think the stress got to him but, yeah, I don't know but the upside is it costs me nothing to adopt a "wait a see"-stance from now on.

Actually a fair point. He was pushed forwards by many to become a developer and magically it happened. Then before he could have done more than say "hi" to his new co-workers a big update came out and he was blamed for every single thing that players didnt agree with. He couldnt have changed a single thing on that update and was still blamed. That never really stopped.

Ofcourse he should have admitted at some point that his leadership isnt working. That moment that everyone and their dog was fired with the exception of Wrel... that smells like a manager move to me. "It wasnt me, it was my team. Let me pick people who just agree with everything I say, or hire people into a new team so I can create a culture where saying 'no' to me feels like you can lose your job, so I get free reign in pushing my agenda".
On one hand the results are there. The amount of radical changes in an attempt to steer the game right has increased, with long-standing requests like the Bastion and Colusses adfed. I wont be surprised if they add BFR's next and actually finish a new continent. We should be cheering for everything he gets done in such a short time.
If only they had taken that bit more time to gauge the potential effects and not tried to force agenda's instead of encouraging them, we might actually be cheering here.

Yeah, office politics is another side of the thing and in my experience the best/most logical practices tend to get stomped on by human error and/or agendas... Or good intentions gone wrong.

Perhaps Wrel was even backed by upper management who saw him as "the hip kid from YT who would appease the community and bring in new players" or something or it was just simple numbers of pushing updates which catered to the people who buy stuff in the cash shop. Just dangle them keys infront of the dedicated people who pay up to keep the boat afloat.

But yeah, all we can do now is to watch and see. I'm hoping for something because there is nothing out there which cures the same gaming itch as PS2 does.

It's not just the PS2 community. In so many games through the years, it's been made obvious that players do not enjoy debuffs, especially ones that effectively remove control of their character. Spending all this time and effort working on something nobody wants, while we still need fine tuning to content previously added, is a misguided waste of precious resources and will only serve to push players away from the game.

Similar to Arena they aren’t listening and they at one point had 10,000 players coming back to check out there new stuff. Ironically it wasn’t sustainable because now the player numbers are back to what they had in December.

It’s the Veterans that kept the game afloat during the dark years, they just won’t listen, new maps, they think outfits keep us playing? They are wrong, it was advancement and unlockables and constantly building my character with more viable options on how to kill.

Outfits came together as players that came together to have a good time. The promotion of kill/death ratios, competitive hoarding of resources and the mitigation of he who zergs with the most numbers and spawn camps the smaller squads has made fights stale, lobsided and boring.

    This

It could be just as simple as Wrel only takes in the feedback of Twitter posts and people who are friendly to him in Discord and then just labels that as the "the Players" ...that would explain the "woke" bubble he still lives in which excludes and angers so many self determined Ex-Millitary, Conservatives, and Anarcho-Libertarians who actually make up the bulk of the other two faction's casual playerbases.

(I'm not injecting politics into planetside BTW, Planetside injected politics into itself when it decided that it should show much greater preference towards super high cohesion / coordination infantry platoon Emerald outfits along with fcrw/dpso/twc2 ...rewarding them constantly with "collectivist force multipliers" at the expense of everyone else who preferred the original Hex system in the game where smaller more independent groups of Non-NEETs could still sorta affect the trajectory of Zergside2)

I wish I *could* borrow his ear for a minute though because I'm not in any of those political groups, and I would give him some actually PRACTICAL socialist/democracy type advice on how to fix the gunplay in a way that plugs some of the constant hemorrhaging of the "marginalized" newbie players who get bullied in this game into quitting before they can even find a satisfying niche to get them invested in it!

    News flash: CAI wasn't Wrel.

It was Nick Saliva who pushed the update to live shortly after Wrel was hired, and used the poor dude as a scapegoat.

You may now go back to your daily **********. Hopefully your hate boner isn't too painful.

(oh and before anyone says I support CAI, please look at my post history)
  16. Liewec123

Just skimmed through and couldn't see anyone mention CAI.
If they did then agreed they shouldn't have, personally CAI doesn't bother me too much.

    ----- Wrel ---- what do you think ? ---
  18. Turn5ignal

Hey dudes just came back after a long break from the game and they have added so much stuff and honestly it feels like it's in a really good place right now. What are these issues you guys are talking about?

I think we should be happy this game is even getting content still I figured it would be in maintenance mode by now. You guys just seem kinda salty your ideas weren't added. Might be a good idea to take a break play something else for awhile if you are not having fun.

Also what did CAI change I googled it and it was talking about tank armor. I remember back in the beta the hitreg for rocket launchers was based on your orientation to the target not actually where the rocket hit.

Much as I personally like or dislike this or that it sure seems wrong to hate on WREL for providing any changes or updates which helps avoid boredom more or less Quite frankly I suspect he gets much information playing the game himself possibly alongside other solid players Chance there is discussion on some Reddit posts etc. Basically there is good w/ bad etc. Such things as "new player experience" Yeah that sounds like a crapshoot which should be left up to folks hoping to profit Some games just isn't for everybody Im near astounded that there is reportedly going to be changes to the Liberator's (Honestly more believe it when I see it) But until you have sat in a Sunderer w/ a Lib directly above and way high? I think your thoughts much less words on this game are bias garbage One would think Libs should have paper armor in such a situation being able to hit that hard but only other Air being a slight deterrent Basically I just choose to enjoy the game...
  20. Liewec123

damn..."does anyone remember playing old games for hours and hours just because they were fun?"
so weird hearing this guy say that the day before he deletes the popular bases from 2 continents...
