Some Galaxy love needed badly

    With all the new heavy-duty anti-air entering the game, i feel like galaxies become increasingly useless.

    For me, the game is mostly about getting certs and having fun while doing so - either by support or kills.

    I feel that galaxy currently does not provide the former, and is not useful enough for the latter.

    Am i alone in this, am i missing something?

    I've proposed the Galaxy to become a quick FOB for respawns and light vehicle spawns before. It would be able to mine and accept cortium and deploy on the ground away from bases (so it doesnt supplant the role of Sunderers). This would allow both attackers and defenders some tactical positioning of troops and vehicles.

    the ability to skywhale sunderers ants and MBTs would make me happy XD
    you can smush them, but they need to be super low health.

    they should embrace skywhale as a playstyle and add a new utility option "Brace for Impact!"
    For the next 5 seconds you take 80% less damage from collisions, 45 second cooldown.

    they could also add boost, that'd be cool, and help catch those pesky ESFs :)

    It transport. There are more suitable tools for killing, such as liberator
    The galaxy can already be used as a rebirth point, being the aerial counterpart of sunderer

    Not at all. The Galaxy is a spawn point for ONE squad only and only if it's in friendly territory or they're within like 500m of it and only if the pilot is sitting in it (potentially doing nothing). It doesn't help the rest of your platoon. It doesn't help your empire. You can't change equipment or spawn vehicles. And if the pilot gets out, even that squad can't spawn there any more until he gets back in. And if the pilot gets killed while he's outside, that Galaxy becomes an empty MEHTAL BAWKSE!

    The Galaxy is a throw-back to the Planetside 1 days. You use to be able to load them with vehicles back then. That's why their just big empty pigs now. No love since.

    You arent wrong, but that is precisely why i made this post.
    Its not really a counterpart of a sunderer since it lacks the definitive feature of a sundie (respawn point and all).
    It is similiar in many ways, with that i agree.

    However, who would ever use the sunderer if it couldnt deploy?
    Support enthusiasts, probably.

    That isnt much fun, however.

    The Sunderer is often used as a vehicle for repairing and replenishing ammunition. And only in rare cases is used as transport. The presence of teleportation makes vehicles meaningless.
    The galaxy is more often used to transport a squad, since it is much faster and can throw them inside the base.
    The problem is rather that the game does not encourage transportation in any way, for a single player this activity is absolutely meaningless. At the same time, the player gets XP for deployed sunderer.

    Bring back deployable galaxies (AMS)! They're much more hardy than sunderers, and a single c4 fairycan't take it out.

    That's opening a huge can of worms,
    Bases are indefensible enough already,
    and we all now how crappy it is when a squad has a gal hovering over the capture point at max height.
    Imagine when the whole zergfit is able to spawn there.

    Squad/platoon mates can spawn at the galaxy. But you have to return to friendly territory.

    I'll happily admit that I'm no Galaxy pilot and I didn't put even a single Cert into it. So I may not be the most knowlegeable person to comment on this, but I had some run-ins with repair Galaxy trios and it was a pain taking these out.

    I think that's the main point. It's like people complaining that the Harasser is too strong "for a transport vehicle". As a transport vehicle it would be useless, so it needs a more defined offensive role to still be relevant to the game. And I can see that the same thing may apply to the Galaxy.

    Galaxys already do that anyway, since Logistic specialist only works in squads. Logi is only useful for Flashes, Ants, Harassers, MBTs and libs.

    To have some love for galaxy game needs to go back in time and remove spawn options.
