They used to be a thing on Amerish before they revamped the continent as well. Made flashlights useful and with some camo you could be totally invisible.
Yeah I do remember night battles being way more cinematic and awesome back then, but think about how the game has devolved. Would you really want to face today's infiltrators in even more darkness? Plus there's performance, new vehicles, etc. Would be a nice thing to revert to if everything else reverted with it. Man I miss the old planetside.
Very few people like nights that are dark or landscapes that look alien. Most people just want sunshine Earth on desert or in a city.
Not till vehicles and infantry have NVGs as standard, and they change the graininess at night so bumping up gamma won't make it look like day.
