What's a good op NC max build?

    @OP:
NC MAX sucks. Save yourself the headache and log onto a different faction if you wanna play MAX.
I’d recommend VS; statistically, Blueshifts perform nearly on par with the pre-nerf Mattocks (Mattocks were the most OP NC MAX weapon prior to the Great Neutering), and there’s no word of “bringing them in line” like the NC stuff anytime soon.

blueshifts are nice sure, but cosmos are where its at!
dual wielding 167dmg model weapons with VS "hitbox hack ammo" and a hilaaaaarious 23 seconds of continuous sustained fire.
and thanks to the hitbox hack ammo i find that they have surprisingly long range reliability if you can burst them.
the only downside is that they look crappy!

also people don't need to abandon nc max entirely (like the devs have...) they just need to know that gorgons are mandatory.
and yep, it does appear that the devs think a few extra rounds was all it took to fix their moronic mistake.
i don't expect the shotguns to be a practical option ever again.
i unsubbed over this and haven't spent a penny since,
if they ever fix their mistake i'll happily continue to cash-whale this game.
but i don't expect to be supporting bad devs ever again.

I think there's been a miscommunication of what data/stats we are referring to. If you are talking about the pros/cons of buck/slugs then I have no issue there. My issue was that even though it is a logical conclusion to state the various advantages/disadvantages where I diverged, and brought up my personal experience, was when I wanted to communicate that while you give up the advantage of buckshot you also gain advantages previously not available to you. Additionally, that I see the ability to do so is an advantage in itself, i.e. specialise or generalise your loadout.

Moving on, and to borrow your plane analogy, it perfectly reasonable to have opinions and ideas but if you were to try and pilot a plane with zero experience or a license then I think the pilot would have something to say. The basis of your own argument is also based in personal experience as it is a compounded model on other unrelate experiences. This doesn't exactly strengthen your position when calling me out for doing so since you're standing on even flimsier ground.

Furthermore, I never presented it as other than personal experience as I offered what I've learned while using slugs. You telling me I couldn't do that or that it couldn't work falls quite flat in this face of what I've already achieved, regardless of how logical and sound you may think it is. No matter how you slice it you are dealing in the purely theoretical without an ounce of practical experience to back you up.

Better is some regards, yes, but buckshot was viable (and more than viable) in many engagements. Having the option to do both is not a bad thing. With the advantages I mentioned earlier there are ways of which MGs are worse at being Slugs, naturally, it goes both ways. You do seem to have a preference for MGs as per previous replies and think it be good for the game if NC have at least one of those and VS/TR getting a special CQC option, sort of Doku-ing it up but for MAX units.

    Good job man!

Just a quick update, I bought the Gorgons for my max. But I finda feel I wasted my money at 2k for both. Well lesson learned. But they are not totally useless I guess just not great. But probably a better option.

That's about as good as you're going to get on NC. The other option is to use bursters to kill infantry since you can multipurpose them and hurt air as well. They're about as good as the shotguns with more sustained fire and you'll probably get more kills at 20m. Not saying it's much fun but there's little downside when compared to the other options.

I think there probably is a bit of miscommunication. It certainly doesn't help that the word "stats" is used to describe the "physical" stats of a weapon, the statistical probability or outcomes, and the recorded user stats without any clear way to differentiate between any of it in natural conversation.

The ability to specialize can be good but with buckshot verses slugs it feels like the choice to be bad at one aspect without being much better in another.

Like I said though, I may not be able to fly a plane but I can understand how a plane works. Personal experience is not required for this. What other experiences do you think I'm basing this off of? Basic probability and analysis suggests shotguns are't going to work better or even well with or without slugs in a number of situations while MGs can just maintain fire to increase the odds in their favour.

I'm not saying a person couldn't do any of those things, just that they'd be less effective than doing the same with a pair of machine guns instead.

I'm sure I sound like a broken record here but theoretical analyses tell a person more than person experience ever can. People remember things incorrectly and interpret events in ways they want to and not how they actually happened. Math doesn't lie or offer false narratives like the brain does. Personally I frequently find things I remember fondly are worse in reality than I had once believed them to be. I even forget how bad some experiences were until I suffer the same or similar events again. If I could mathematically categorize these events as they occurred I could easily say what thing was the worse and what was the best, but ask me now all I have to go off of is what I remember thinking when the events happened. Stats got it down right.

Having a single set of MGs for the NC and shotguns/shotgun-like guns for the TR & VS would be an acceptable solution if done right, in my opinion. But honestly I'd be worried they'd mess it up and give someone something better than the other factions' equivalents. Better Mercies for NC? Pre-nerf Scattercannons for TR and/or VS? You can be that wouldn't go down well!

Ok, I see where you are coming from. Though despite my personal experience I do lean on past data in how things performed even though we can't say for sure which (buck or slug) was the best or if they performed similarly in different situations. How they handled the revamp (or calling it like it is a downright nerf) they removed the bite of buckshot and outright removed slugs is plain weird (and stupid).

I mean they effectively removed my entire play style over night with a weaker buckshot MAX without the MAX charge ability (which REALLY needs be an ES specific ability for NC at this point since they have to close the gap now to even hope to compete against other MAX units).

It be a start at least, and they've revamped obsolete MAX weapons in the past too. My favourite part of MAX history was when they mixed up the COF for Blueshifts/Mercies with a higher ROF MAX weapon resulting in the Blueshift/Mercies having both worse DPS and being the least accurate of all MAX weapons. This was in the early early days though. Still, there I was as a total newbie running around with the worst weapons I could have picked thinking they were built for accuracy.

Yes, I think they should have just done away with slugs and left it at that, if we couldn't get a better change.

I think the shield works okay enough to close distances in relative safety in the right environments. I don't like charge though, as it was used to run away as much as it was to actually charge.

I still think they just need to bite the bullet and make large sweeping changes to the shotgun-machine gun dynamic. Revamps can go a long way but it's still probably just going to be semi-auto buckshot verses volume of fire bullets and all the perks and detriments of both.

    My NC MAX loadout:

Dual hacksaws for MAX vs MAX, scatter cannons for just infantry.
    Max rank flak armor.
    Max rank Aegis shield.
Heavyweight 3(working to get it to R5), Avoidance(Exceptional implant)

Flak armor makes C4 and nades less of an issue, and Aegis shield helps you easily close the distance on a target(in my experience, most people just shoot me, thinking they can take it down fast. At max rank, Aegis can take a lot more damage than you might expect.).
Hacksaws at close range(again, aegis is your friend) can out DPS other MAXes that're built for AI, which is most MAXes you'll be fighting. Scat cannons are still able to 1-shot infantry.
I use Heavyweight because I don't have Salvage yet, but it does help reduce shake from the various explosives your desperate foes will be throwing at you. Avoidance, though it doesn't say it, protects you from tank mines as well as other mines, so you can happily breach a room, safe in the knowledge that tank mines are now a non-issue.

For AV, fo the most part it's the same, but replace Avoidance with Ammo Printer, and use dual falcons. If done right, you can fire one falcon while reloading the other, enabling slow but constant damage. In addition, max rank Aegis shield will easily block tank rounds.
