ASP skill concerns.

This secondary weapons idea has the potential to **** up Ps2. Back in beta Infiltrators had shotguns and after 30 days it was changed because it was terribly OP. Now they doing the same mistake again for paying players.

    Oh my god...
  2. FateJH

Back in Beta, Infiltrator cloaking also had terrible rendering complications that turned the class entirely invisible to other players on higher settings and the devs kept making a mess of fixing it. As for low setting players--remember when this was a thing?

In any case, with power knives now being a thing, I can't see how shotguns can be much too worse. Still sour, yes, but not much worse.
  3. JobiWan

UB shotguns get 3 shots, hardly going to be OP is it?

i'd like to see some more specific vehicle perks myself, infantry get perks that can change their class effectivness and flexability, why not some stuff for vehicles? (e.g driver controled front gun on a sundy. MBTs secondaries swapped out for driver controled co-axials, also reduce max crew occupants to 1/1 in exchange)

these could work, if new players got a point from the start out of the alotted 5 that they could spend even before getting to BR100 to earn more points.

the way shotguns are now with cone of fire controlling the center point of the spread i don't see much issue. which is why i'm pretty meh about the shotgun secondary perk for engineer.

Dev talk about a buff for all pistol except commi, anyone have more info about it ?
I couldn't see any stats buff on the underboss nor the NC default pistol they showed during the stream.

The ASP thing about shotgun isn't engineer only :
LA can equip SMG as secondary and shotgun as primary
Medic can equip BR as secondary and shotgun as primary
HA can equip LMG / Heavy Weapons as secondary and shotgun as primary

For the 20% nanite reduction on vehicle, after reconsiderating it maybe I could be wrong. It will allow player that play only as vehicle to have less down time.
About your suggestion, I think giving more power to the driver/pilot is a bad thing, and losing 1 seat isn't a real tradeoff.

Well I said I have concerns, that doesn't mean I'm not super excited by the potential as well. I thought most classes should be able to use most weapon classes anyway. I'm interested to try my Mercenary/ Gauss compact burst on my infil because they might make good designated marksmen options to replace my battle rifle and might make my nano-armor cloaking more worth it.

I hate critical mass alerts the most out of all updates I can remember. The amount of double-team zergs they make are sickening and I doubt they can top that ****fest. I hope that goes away with the removal of HIVEs.

I love the new implant system. It is a chance based system, that's why I only use certs on it (which is great that it's not P2W). YES you CAN use real money to get them. I think it's one of the best things to happen to this game. Monetization for this game has probably finally picked up as a result and we're less likely to see the game keel over and die. Unless we're going all out TR socialism I think this is a good implementation of F2P payment mechanics.

I for one am glad, albeit wary that they're adding late-game mechanics. Sure I think it should be reduced to ~5000 certs because 10k is BS, but the potential is huge and gives some kind of long-term goals.

think about it, with two people in a vehicle you have two sets of eyes that can cover more sight radius to spot enemies and defend the vehicle and if you get a tanker's health down and he's away from friendly forces there is one less repair tool so more downtime between engagements if he isn't destoryed while repairing.

one less repair tool means also that if a tank is taking fire there is no engineer gunner that can hop out and repair the tank under fire, while the driver returns fire with the main gun, the other downside is with two guns under driver control, only one gun can be in action at a time.

Really? On Cobalt the incentive does not seem to be high enough. Most only seem to care for the alert when it's like 10 minutes left on the clock and a close race. The rest of the time it's either one side going all in against an other to the warpgate and hence the third one is taking over the whole map, start an alert and win it...or it's all about biolabs(if you see 2 factions fighting at one biolab it's the right time to start an alert. About 80-90% of them will not leave the biolab to fight you).
The alerts where both other factions suddenly stop fighting and turn against the faction that started the alert are really rare...and usually end up with one side being more committed and the other then starting the next alert right away with a huge lead in regions. I think I have only seen it one time that there have been 2 alerts in a row without the continent being locked....and that should happen more if it was always 2on1 with quite equal pop, right?

I just thought the older VP system was better, they just needed to make it so HIVEs were more efficient the closer to action hotspots rather than by hex so you would actually see more front-line use of construction as spawn points and road checkpoints instead of off in a hole on the side of the map.

As for ASP I think the 5 I would be interested in are:

    - Universal combat armor discount. What can I say? Tanks are expensive, especially for a free player without the resource buff.

    - Infiltrator Carbine Access. Mercenary, Gauss burst or maybe ACX-11 to replace my battle rifle and Tomoe. I want to be a designated marksman, but I want to have automatic spam-ability and hipfire. This might finally be a solution for me.

    - Light Assault SMG secondary. Pretty badass I think, although SMGs still suffer from not having the buff to mid-air hipfire that carbines got. I prefer the blackhand in this spot as it allows sniping from perches. Pocket Gladius/Canus is a fun thought though.

    - Engineer Shotgun Secondary. As someone who runs an Archer always I'm very interested by this. Probably the Mauler or Baron for versatile ranges. Slugs maybe?

    - Heavy Assault Heavy Gun Secondary. GOD Saw+ Jackhammer anyone? Possibly the most broken thing on this list lol.

I might swap the LA SMG ability for another vehicle resource discount. After looking at it for a while MOST of this stuff isn't even that bad. most of them are just side-grade level stuff for people who are really specialized like I am with my Archer.

Concerns are fine to have. I encourage players to try it out and leave feedback once they have some firsthand experience with the system. We're definitely reading the feedback we've been getting, but once players have actually gotten their hands on it I'd like to see how opinions develop - it'll be easier for us to make any adjustments we need to with actual player testing.

    *TAG! You're it!*

You're just left there to either panic and run into friendlies or say some kind of profanity before you go kaboom
  13. OldMaster80

Considered how cheap Sundies are I don't think that discount will be very relevant unless you still play the old Battlebus strategy and charge enemy tanks head down. If you play support them you rarely run out of nanites as Sundy driver.

Then that discount would mean like 40 seconds less of downtime. Not a huge game changer.
  14. adamts01

I love the new proposal. But I have 3 complaints.
    • Cost. As a paying member who just made BR100, I'm super space poor. 10k certs for a free player would be crushing.
    • Infil carbines and sticky grenades. Please no.
Everything else looks either great or underwhelming. I'd probably still run a Commissioner in my 2nd slot just due to draw speed. But a second primary would be great if you're running a specialized primary. Archer/shotgun. Tanto/smg. saber 13/torque 9.
I also think these poits shouldn't be set in stone. We should be able to play around with them a bit, try things, then switch up later on as meta changes or things are added/balanced.
  15. Halkesh

I'd hear that dev will buff all sidearm except commissioner, or nerf commi draw speed. (unconfirmed).
  16. adamts01

I heard that on their stream. I have to say I agree with that move. The commi has been the undisputed champ for a very long time. I'd support a nerf because in cqb it rivals primaries. I've always thought 4 shots with a quicker reload would balance it. Other pistols do need buffs though. Either more accuracy or more damage.
  17. Metalsheep

Infils with Carbines don't really bother me so much. They already have access to some potent tools. But a few of the options seem odd or silly. Mostly with the cross class Grenade options. They seem like traps.

Why would a Medic ever NOT use the revive grenade? What infiltrator would rather use Flashbang than EMP? For that matter why would engies use anything OTHER than EMP once its unlocked? Same with LA and HA, why use a Flashbang when the Conc is arguably 100% better?

Id suggest making the Anti-Vehicle grenade open to all classes, maybe through the universal skills?

    Also: No MAX A.S.P skills?

I've been on hiatus from this game for a long time waiting for a good update that shakes everything up to make it fun again. ASP sounds cool as a concept. More customization for your character? Awesome, love the idea, always a fan of being able to tune my experience more. Engi + LMG sounds like a fun support option. But that BR100 + 10k cert cost? Yeah, staying on hiatus.

As a player who setted a long time at BR 120 for now, i think further progression like ASP are a welcomed change. Directives are somewhat nice to have, but they force me into certain playstayles (Obviously most of them are: KILL as fast and much as you can!).

The freedom of developement given by ASP makes a huge difference.

However, there is a huge drawback - New players and costs:
New players have to grind to BR 100, to have access to the system at all. That is not comforatable, yet fair. Since you allready introduce multiple points to earn, it would be reasonable to hand out 1-2 during the first run ( likely at BR 50 and later).

Costs for entering the system are also quite high. Ofc, this is a very good motivation to buy membership once, which is only fair assuming one can play the game totaly free up to that point. 10k Certs however are a bit ... harsh. At 100C/min this would translate to 100h playtime. Mixed with implants, the whole arsenal to unlock and to improve, having 10k Certs is a value only hardcore player will see.

I also wounder if there will be any compensation for BR 120 players over just reached BR 100 players aside from earned titels and decals. BR 120 players did to grind 1-100 twice, so maybe lift the 10k costs for them?

I only recently bought my first (platinum) commish with DBC. If it's nerfed too hard I'll expect a refund. But I won't hold my breath.
