I7 7700K + 1070 or 1080?

for playing in 1080p with the new i7 7700K (with a good OC @4.8 or @5) on 144/gsync Monitor.
    will be there a big difference between a 1070 and a 1080?
or is it just waste money for 5% or less performance gap since anyway PS2 will always be CPU limited in heavy fight even with a 7700k?

Speaking from my own personal perspective, you should invest in the card you will use in general across all the games you play. If that's just PlanetSide 2 you aren't going to likely see a huge improvement from the 1080 to the 1070. I can tell you as a 1070 owner I'm really satisfied with my current card but again this is just my personal opinion.

If cost is of concern to you, go with the 1070. I'd wager the performance difference in PS2 would be virtually indiscernible in a side-by-side comparison, even without GSYNC.

At 1080p on a GSYNC display, you'll be golden with the 1070 for any game on the market, current and near future.

    My system specs:
    i7-4790K @ 4.8GHz
    2x 8GB DDR3 @ 2200MHz
    GTX 1080 @ 2080MHz
    PG279Q 1440p 165Hz GSYNC

Radar has the right advice. Graphically the game isn't very heavy. I think just like shadowassociate that in most situationsit will not make a notable difference, if at all. If you have a good processor (and in my opinion, the stronger the single cores the better for this game), you should be able to play it as you want.

I have an i7-4790K and 16 GB DDR3 like shadowassociate, but I have a gtx 1070. The game is smooth regardless. The processor you'll get? It will crush PS2 with a 1070.

So go for Radar his advice. See what else you play or will be playing. The 1070 is a beefy card, outshining even the 900 series high end cards. It could have been the crème de la crème for Nvidea, but they happily decided to add the 1080 as well with extra kick. If you suddenly have wayyyy more money to spend, check the Titan XP and other high end cards that are out now. One of the latest is a powerhouse for more bang for your buck than most of those special cards. Bang for your buck is relative though, as it is like the others still expensive.

My rig that I purchase a few months back, i7 7700K, GTX 1070, 144hz monitor, simply crushes PS2. I didn't have enough to go with a gsync monitor, but I'm using Lightboost which got rid of all the blur and ghosting that I saw in the game during night fights. During big fights I'm getting between 108-120 FPS.

In my experience PS2 is limited by single core CPU performance so when buying it is a good idea to look for some CPU and motherboard that is overclock friendly if you really want to keep high framerates.

I'm very happy with 1070 and 6700 CPU.

I play 3440x1440 on a X34 and the combo gives 50+ FPS at Ultra in huge battles.
