NS MAX HMGs

    Earlier today Wrel posted a video that, among other things, showed off NS MAX HMGs. According to Wrel the NS MAX HMGs will be similar to the Basilisk as in they can damage anything but are not the best weapon to combat any one type of target.

    If the HMGs are going to act like that for AI, then TR and VS MAXes are going to get ****** over. If not balance wise then the community is going to have a stroke over giving NC MAXes a comparable MMG like weapon without also giving TR/VS MAXes a shotgun like weapon. With the added effect of NC going to be using these HMGs FAR FAR more for the simple fact of not having anything for the HMG to compete with in likewise AI weapons, meaning NC MAXes will likely have a versatility edge over TR/VS MAXes.

    This can end up badly and the game can't take another hit to population if it does turn bad.

    Ffffiiiiinally. Fractures buff. I've been waiting for this.
    MAX HMGs are shweet! NC players might quit crying over their lack of range. Though I'm gonna use them as well, gonna be pretty versatile weapon for the outdoors when you don't know who you gonna encounter with.
    Basilisk buff is necessary too.

    Wrel is doing great job.

    Those HMGs are not going to be THAT effective as dedicated TR/VS AI guns. Besides we still have our high ROF/low range equivalents to NC shotguns.

    Actually no. In fact, the NS HMGs are still gonna be comparably more effective when used on VS/TR MAXs. As both VS and TR have faction MAX abilities that directly enhances the HMG's damage output and TTK in various situations. In comparison, while NC's MAX riot shield works nice with the scatter cannons, it does nearly absolute nada when paired up with a machine gun style weapon that comes with a pretty big magazine capacity already.

    That being said, I'll still definitely get these, though.

    There is code in the files for them. Damage 200, rof 240. Almost as slow as SASR.

    True that TR and VS MAX AI weapons are going to outshine the HMG against infantry as that is the point of dedicated versus general weapons. But that mainly means TR and VS MAXes will not find a lot of use out the HMG for AI needs. Then what about fighting other MAXes? Any TR/VS MAX AI weapon has at least a 5 second TTK (4.8 or the likes for Onslaught/Nebula) for another BR1 MAX not counting headshots, longer with range past 0m and with each rank of Kinetic Armor. The HMG will be a choice for TR/VS MAXes depending on the drawbacks.

    NC MAXes though will be climbing over each other to get the HMG. They have nothing that compares to the sustained fire of the HMG and what ranged options NC MAXes have (slugs) are FAR to RNG reliant to be reliable. So NC MAXes are going to field these things more often as it isn't a choice for them. Stay with shotguns and keep to their locked niche, or use the HMG for more reliability so skill can be the main factor instead of RNG?


    This MAX HMG also has to use some kind of AV damage resistance. Kinetic will likely not do crap against it as it only effects small arms like how it does jack all for Archer rounds. And depending on what AV resistance the HMGs use (Light Anti Armor, Heavy Machine Gun, or Heavy Anti Armor, ect) and their stats these things can be lethal to MAXes who at best have a 65% resistance if this chart is right ( https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...h8RJnceRswI1CZRFKnF-dT4_w/edit#gid=1609408229 ). Thus giving NC MAXes the edge in ranges from 0m out to maybe 20-30m or more for MAX fights. Shotguns for the sub 3 second TTK while in your face and past that the higher use of HMGs. Even if the HMG has the exact TTKs of TR/VS MAX AI weapons against MAXes, NC still has their shotguns while TR/VS don't.

    Also while NC MAXes are fielding far more HMGs than TR/VS MAXes. TR/VS Sunderers, MBTs, anything really even aircraft will be hit with a lot more AV than normal when fighting NC. Why bother taking a shotgun, even with slugs, outside when you have a HMG? Some will even choose the HMG over RAVENS for sub 100m fights around a base depending on the area, line of sight, and if infantry are a possibility.



    The HMG is going to help NC way to damned much compared to what it will do for TR or VS. DBG should add MAX AI weapons first. Rip the Kobalt and Renegade off the flash for a NS MAX MMG and shotgun and for the fun of it all bring back the Flamethrower.

    The Vanu may not find much use for them aside from an even bigger middle weapon than their current weapons but for the TR they may have use for them when compared to the fractures. Currently (No idea post buff if this will be the same) The fractures are awful at close range AI so moving in with them is a pain when youre trying to plow through infantry to get to the enemy machine or whatever it is. The pounders are a bit better except theyre not as effective when mobile as they are when youre camping out somewhere

    This should be a nice middle for TR in that respect

    When Zealot overdrive is buffed (Were all expecting this arent we?) they might have more use

    Normally id agree with you but this is weaker at AI and AV

    It gives a good medium and lets be honest

    Scat maxes suck

    Ill never find viable use for the darn things and have never nor will ever feel threatened by them

    Theyre just bad

    Can we get NS shotguns for our maxes too? It seems they only buffing NC and TR again while VS got left out.

    Im not against flamethrowers as long as they have drawbacks to make up for possible AoE abuse

    Long reloads and super short range

    Possibly relatively short clips as well that lead to reliance on engineers to help prevent abuse

    Im pretty dull and calm irl so that video has a little too much energy for me
