[Suggestion] Remove slugs from full-auto shotguns

Seriously. This is one of the most OP things in the game infantry v. infantry.

I'm not a bad player, but I definitely can't consistently get these kinds of results with any other infantry weapon.

With a fully auto shotty with slugs you have:
    • The CQC potential of a shotgun
    • The mid range potential of an LMG
    • The long range potential of a battle rifle
This goes for slugs on NC MAX too. There should be a trade off for having superior CQC potential.
Keep shotguns as CQC specialists. Not all-round beasts.

The fact that the slugs do exactly the same damage as semi-auto shotguns means that they are always the better option.

One person who knows how to farm is hardly reason for removing them

This can't be serious. Full auto slug shotgun is the least consistent automatic weapon in the game. With terrible CoF and CoF bloom, it's way below being viable, let alone overpowered.

With buckshot, full auto shotgun has 3-5m range. With slugs - 10m, maybe 15m. Everything else is luck, wishful thinking, or just killing enemies that might as well have been killed with commissioner or blackhand.

As I said... I'm the same player that uses other weapons and I can't do the same thing with anything else. Farm or no farm, this weapon was significantly better at pretty much all ranges than anything else I've used (and I've auraxed most infantry weapons in the game).

You're not using it properly then. At medium-long range you should be firing it at about the same rate as a semi-auto shotty. Don't mag dump at 20m and hope your uncontrolled fire will hit something. If you use it properly you'll see that it's ridiculously OP.

    Are you using it correctly?

I'm looking at the killboard and seeing people return within 1-2 minutes and getting killed again. That tells me you did not win. You have a great KDR, but you could have very well lost the battle. Killing someone just slows them down for 10-15 seconds.

Getting a 10+ KDR looks great in a vacuum. But you look like a derp if your side lost the battle. That means you were being a detriment to your team by just taking up space.

Want to prove the weapon is OP? Get a squad of peeps using them and dominate a few bases. Can you do that? You and I both know that a group of Shottie users will get decimated by a few dudes with LMGs, ARs, and BRs. You MIGHT be even with carbines and SMGs.. MIGHT.

Slugs are hardly worth calling OP. They make the weapon unreliable at close range, and they have a lot of bullet drop and a lousy COF during ADS. You're pretty much better off with a carbine or LMG, since they are more versatile and reliable. Maybe even an SMG tbh.

Battle Rifles need a buff; they don't compete to scout rifles which match them functionally and by role. But slugs... well... as the others have said here...

What's the point of using a full auto shotgun then? In semi auto mode, other shotguns will be more effective, due to better recoil decrease (recentering speed) and reload times.
And even at close range, in full auto mode, you get a weapon with low headshot multiplier, countered by nanoweave and distance increase to >10m, bad accuracy, effective hip fire range of 1m and low rate of fire - the most desirable stat in close quarters.

I have used all shotguns with slugs. They're all incredibly bad, and full auto is the worst.

Slugs, the worst weapon in the game.

And most fun at same time.

I like the under barrel shotguns even though I suck at them. I used slugs back when VS had no drop, but SOE had to ruin that way back when.

    Funny.

This is what the NC's fully-automatic Hacksaw does with slugs @ ~30m. 4 second delay in between shots.

It's a 5-shot group, though two shots cloverleafed so you only see 4 holes. All shots were aimed at center of mass from a standing position. The shots to the right against the wall was just me trying to clear the target from the last guy who was using it (I'm not that bad a shot).

As you can see, only 1 in 5 shots actually hit the target (in a very embarrassing place, but them's the RNG for ya). Given how the Hacksaw only has 6 rounds normally (upgradable to 10), this means that out of a single arm the MAX can only hope for 1-2 hits (and possibly less given how unlucky they might be).

The problem with NC MAX slugs is that due to the magical powers of PS2 shotguns, slugs only become accurate when ADSing. And MAXes... cannot ADS. Therefore slugs on NC MAXes aren't going to have the same effect as slugs on infantry shotguns. Sure it's better than trying to pepper someone with the equivalent of birdshot at 30m, but really any infantryman with almost any non-gimmick weapon would be more effective than the MAX.

This is why NC MAX users complain about being handicapped at range without really any other options. Taking slugs (even with the more accurate Mattock) simply isn't anywhere near a reasonable and balanced substitute as having an actual ranged option like the TR or VS.

More so now that CQB with MAXes is fraught with AT mines. :p

You hit him in the balls, man. Where's the bro code?
  14. Liewec123

    nope.

you're obviously hanging back and playing safe, you're averaging about 2 kills a minute, you could quite easily play this way with any weapon (if you have the patience for it)

slug auto shotties are a fun alternative when you get bored of mowing people down with an lmg, but they're no way op.
