Heavy Assault is detrimental to the new player experience

HA's do one thing and one thing ONLY KILL.

Of course they will have the tools to do that efficiently.

Any other class in a 1 Vs1 head on fight SHOULD lose to an HA.

So wait...your saying that all the BR100 VSHA with directive weapon logos are not really MLG Pros?
    Who knew.

the shield is a problem when you can get ambushed, hit f, and easily survive reliably even when caught with pants down.

I did think about it. The giant issue with the heavy s its a do everything rambo class, by limiting its ability to do everything reliably while still giving it decent, although limited, options do do stuff like that could possibly fix the class.

giving rocket launchers to engineers makes sense from both a gameplay and a lore perspective. They are meant to be great demolitions experts as shown by their tank mines, c4, ai mines, av turrets, sticky grenades, etc. giving them the dumbfire launchers would:
Further define their anti armor and anti max roll
Without overshields rocket primary and overshield coverpeeking against maxes becomes impossible
limiting the resupply amount of rockets to a similar amount as underbarrels would cut down on lancer/pheonix/deci spamming.

    head on yes

    ambushed with pants down no

Who needs a medic when I got HA shield + med kits with me?.
no medics and run out of ammo very very soon? are you joking dude?. HA don't need you medics when they got Med kits + shield to tank/survive longer. Do you know what you are talking about?. You do realize people don't play support class, just to fight HA, they play support, because they are being a team player or adapt to surroundings, either that or they are new. You do realize that the core infantry in this game is Heavy Assault right?. I'm not saying HA is op, but it is a superior class.

You realize your changes would make the game MAXside 2 & cause a cluster of balance issues?

Also compare the 3 changes I said, to you ones.

I target flexibility & balance problems all in 1 go, without causing massive balance ripple effects that would leave the game in shambles.
  7. Scr1nRusher

    Aim..... for.......the.......brain.
  8. FABIIK

To me the problem in HA is not the shield. It s that one class gets to carry AT THE SAME TIME the most powerful AI guns (LMG, Lasher/MCG/Jackhammer) AND a rocket launcher.
  9. Scr1nRusher

    LMG's are overblown crappy AR's.

Also the ES Heavy weapons are situational.
  10. Ballto21

    >C4
    >AI mines
    >Still dumbfire decimators, bit more teamplay needed granted
    >Removing shotguns would make jackhammers worse than they already are, and yes they are ******* SHOTGUNS
    >Thats what i have been saying about lockons

at least 40% of my c4 kills are maxes.

VS and TR weapons arent op, NC weapons are just fine, just aim for the head.
  11. Klypto

But then that means nobody would use those rocket launchers like the annihilator.
  12. Ballto21

i think you only play heavy assault and never switch classes

use other guns every so often, realize lmgs are the best at virtually everything simply because of versatility.
  13. Ballto21

    i like the annihilator :(

also good luck fighting air without a lockon.
  14. Scr1nRusher

People purchase those 2 ES Lock ons for 2 reasons:

    1) They want to buy a lock on RL to use against X threat.

    2) They cannot afford the annihilator.
  15. ReconTeemo

LMG is suppose to be a mid to long range weapon. They should not have guns that can compete in cqc, that's why they have shield to compensate. But oh wait, they do, they can use shotguns, smgs, and cqc oriented lmgs. So yeah......
  16. Scr1nRusher

I play the other classes(And got a load of auraxiums in total, and all vehicles.).
  17. Scr1nRusher

Where did I say VS & TR weapons are OP and that NC weapons suck?

I just said aim for the head when facing HA's and they go down so easily its not even funny.

Also, your changes would,to put it nicely... Screw over the game balance in such a way that you denied new players options against things, creates a ton of balance repercussions and issues its not even funny, and eventually cause power creep issues with MAX's,vehicles & aircraft.
  18. Scr1nRusher

    Your right in many ways.
  19. FABIIK

Still I find it weird that one soldier can carry 2 most encumbering weapons...

Are steroids included in the HA's dotation ?

edit: at least the engie's turret requires time to deploy (summon spell???)

I think we should just have a separate class for AT/AA launchers. And shift around ammunition packs.

Combat Engineers are meant to blow up stuff and build stuff, but aren't usually tasked with taking out tanks or aircraft. That and in PS2 they double as crews for vehicles.

LMG carriers (normal infantry) can pass out extra ammunition (if they happen to be using rounds that everyone else can use) because they carry about 3x the ammunition that a normal rifleman carries. Though normally infantry get their ammunition from prepared positions or a friendly vehicle.

Heavy ATGMs are assigned to about four people in an entire platoon and require a crew of two to effectively operate. These infantry get special training.

So I would make a few new classes and modify a few existing classes:
    1) Crewmen- Meant to operate vehicles. Lightly armed and armored and only capable of very weak self-repair. But no one else gets to drive!
    2) Heavy Assault- Meant to shoot lots of bullets and let friendlies shoot lots of bullets. Can now resupply friendly infantry with ammo, but loses the rocket launcher. Can keep the Shield, but with a delay (tactical use only).
    3) Engineer- Meant to keep vehicles running, blow up fortifications, and build fortifications. Can no longer toss out ammo, but is the only class (in addition to LA) who has C4 (though C4 is now a demolition tool and not an AT tool).
    4) Heavy Weapons Specialist- Meant to operate weapons that are effective against tanks and aircraft. Lightly armed but is the only one with direct-fire weapons that can significantly damage vehicles. Maybe can also be given anti-infantry heavy weapons as well (mortars, flamethrowers, flame-based rocket launchers, sonic weapons, etc).
