I'm thinking about upgrading my gpu. Now i have gtx 650 and it's not really enough and i'm thinking to upgrading to X60 ( either 760 or 960) because i don't want to spend a lot of money. Is it worth upgrading to it or should i just play with my gpu? And if it is, which gpu should i buy ( i prefer nvidia gpus)

P.S. will I feel the difference between 650 and 960 or it will be just a bit?

You will notice a difference. A 760 or 960 is more than twice as fast.

How much of a difference you will notice depends on the CPU you are playing on which would be important to know.

Between the 760 and 960, I'd get the 960. Benchmarks and testing are putting the 960 equal to or better than the 760 and you get a card which pulls less power and runs cooler and quieter. Pricing should be about even.

The 960 is about 4x as powerful as a 650. The 960 is about the same as a 770(680). A 760 is about 3x as powerful as a 650. Even the 650ti BOOST was roughly twice as powerful as the 650.

What kind of PSU do you have?

Isn't the GTX 760 just a renamed (refurbished) GTX 670?
And yes I would totally recommend a GTX 960!
(Or a 970 if that 3.5 GB + 500 MB RAM stuff doesn't occupies you)

No its a slightly different GK104. The GK104 in the 660ti actually has more cores but a 192bit bus. The 670 has the same number of cores as the 660ti but a 256bit bus. The 770 is a rebranded 680 and theyre the full GK104 chip. Thats five different versions of the same chip. Lots of binning and rebranding.

For my PSU, i know that it's more than enough, my cpu is intel i5-4460 and 8 gb of RAM ( dunoo if that matter much for gpu)

And of course i would buy 970 over 960, but that's too expensive for me...

    AMD do precisely the same.
  10. BlackDove

Yeah the 280x is a renamed chip from 2011 and AMD sells an overclocked 8350 as the 9590 lol. Pretty much everyone does it. Intel just releases a million versions of their basic full chips. Haswell refresh is a rebrand too.

Could i play on ultra or high ( i would like to have ambient occlusion on) with gtx 960?
  12. BlackDove

    Yes.
  13. Lord_Mogul

But maybe with shadows on low or medium, depending on your CPU. (Even people with current i7 overclocekd to around 5 GHz are not getting constant 60 FPS.
(I see dips below 40 myself, while neither CPU nor GPU are used more than around 60-70%)
  14. SKuLLdRaG3

Well, yes, i mean can i have high/ultra settings on gpu related settings. My most cpu related settings are medium/low or even off.
