Increase FPS by forcing 32bit client.

    I have done this and my FPS is higher as well as being more stable. I recently played at least 200vs200 and my fps didn't go below 50 on Miller.

    Here's how to force 32bit game even on 64bit OS:

    Open notepad and copy and paste this into it:

    @echo off
    title PS2 32bit Launcher
    echo Starting Launcher and waiting...
    C:
    cd "\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\PlanetSide 2"
    copy PlanetSide2_x86.exe Planetside2.exe
    start launchpad.exe
    ping localhost -n 8 > nul
    echo OK to launch
    FOR /L %%i in (1,1,20) do (
    ping localhost -n 2 > nul
    copy Planetside2_x86.exe Planetside2.exe > nul
    )

    Save the document but make sure you end it in .bat

    Next to "cd" make sure you put the correct installation directory for your game or this won't work.

    PC specs:

    CPU: i5 3570k @4.4ghz
    GPU: HD 7870 IceQ turbo edition 2gb
    RAM: 8gb

    My useroptions (just rendering and fps affecting sound options:

    [Rendering]
    OverallQuality=-1
    GraphicsQuality=2
    TextureQuality=1
    ShadowQuality=0
    LightingQuality=1
    EffectsQuality=1
    TerrainQuality=1
    FloraQuality=4
    ModelQuality=1
    ParticleQuality=1
    ShadowLOD=0
    ParticleLOD=0
    EffectsLOD=0
    TerrainLOD=0
    FloraLOD=0
    FloralLOD=0
    ModelLOD=0
    RenderDistance=1000.000000
    Gamma=0.000000
    MaximumFPS=120
    UseLod0a=1
    VerticalFOV=74
    FogShadowsEnable=0
    MotionBlur=0
    VSync=0
    AO=0
    GpuPhysics=0
    ParticleDistanceScale=0.450000
    MinimapMode=1
    Smoothing=0
    SmoothingMaxFramerate=122

    Try it out and report your fps here! Hope this helps some of you.

    hate to say it but you wont see increased fps solely from running 32bit

    the only thing that will increase fps is an upgrade or turning your graphical settings down, anything short of that is likely a half measure or a placebo effect.

    having said that i run 32bit also but for different reasons.

    64bit seems to have much more memory leak than 32bit does. Also, it worked for me so it can't hurt to try it.

    THANK YOU! it fixed it!
    ppl you need to save the notepad file to a .bat file and than execute them. my 50 frames are back!

    working working yeah the hell working!

    Nice! :)

    Great :)

    Just a bump to point out that this works. I've been using it since the 64 bit client was released because apparently my 64 bit computer can't run the 64 bit client for some reason D: (SOE y u break dis?)

    That being said, generally 64 bit should give you MORE frames because it can use more memory, although with the recently introduced memory leak, I don't know how beneficial that would be.

    does it matter where i save the .bat notepad file ? never used a batch file but always wanted to know about it ^^ lazy me

    EDIT: nevermind i just saved it in my planetside 2 folder and it works :D
  10. EddieCarbone

    Nah, it doesn't matter where you place it :)

    Hey when we use the large address aware, do we select the .bat file to increase the memory when we open the aware program?

    Also, when opening up PS2 via the .bat file, steam doesn't open up with it. Is there anything bad that will happen if we don't open steam?
  13. EddieCarbone

    You select planetside2_x86.exe :) No, steam not opening up is fine.
  14. EddieCarbone

    You should also restart your game client every couple of hours because memory leak will decrease your game's performance after a while.
  15. Omie

    Ok thanks!

    Just one question I have on my mind,

    If we can select planetside 2 the x86 version which is 32 bit, why can't we just create a shortcut to the desktop of the x86 and use that instead of creating a .bat file and everything?
  16. Omie

    Oh ok, does this also happen in the regular 64 bit version as well?
  17. EddieCarbone

    Because if you have a 64 bit operating system, the planetside client will force you to use the 64bit game client.
  18. EddieCarbone

    This does happen with the 64 bit client, too.
  19. Omie

    Oh I see, thanks. By the way, when we force the 32 bit to use more memory, can we delete that file the large aware program thing? Or if we delete it will the 32 bit go back to using 2gb memory?
  20. EddieCarbone

    I'm not sure, I just kept it. It doesn't take up much room anyway :)
