Is any one else Losing intrest in the game with the worthless updates

This "big" update which arrived a few days ago which implemented the "Directive System" and a Nerf® to a majority of equipment just seems to kill the game for me. As a NC, our rocket launchers no-longer kill enemies with a direct shot, If we're at point blank, the rocket kills us instead leaving the enemy untouched. The Directives are worthless in my opinion. Hence Everything here is cosmetic, and not really worth working for. If The Directives rewarded Armor looks which added a extra 5% protection against small arms, or Flak/AT That would be great. But its like the weapons. Copy and paste, change this and that. Looks the same, fires differently, same statistics. Whats the use?
Another issue which really makes me regret spending 100's$ in this game is the Poor Hit-registration, I constantly fire the Phoenix TV-Guided missile, and hit people, but not get damage, or i fly through them. My sniper rounds fly through their chests. Splash damage for rockets have been reduced by 500pts. Its like at some point in this game we will all use the same weapon, different looks, but same statistics 250damage, 500rpm, Cant hit a mountain at 50+m Heavy assault troopers are equipped with LMG's but don't have a bi-pod to throw fire support/suppressive fire down range to back up their team, instead you have to macro your mouse to set your gun to fire burst rounds to even get a slight amount of accuracy. Another thing i noticed is that the AA missile launcher for the NC appears to have a reduction in lock-on range, and can lock-on to targets within 25m. The game is just sucking even more in my opinion. I also made a VS account to test their weaponry, and their accuracy is crazy. RPM's are amazing. Then you see the NC... all we got good is the Vanguard, nothing more anymore.

Yes, people've been losing interest for awhile. I think it's been downhill since death screen and lib update(when they buffed it), which've partially undone the performance update gains and added new issues(hitreg).

NC is arguably the best faction though, not sure why you complain about accuracy when NC has lowest horizontal recoil weapons while still having great high RoF ones as well. VS and TR have more muddled in-betweener weapons that're worthless while NC has very well designed options. Mercenary, Gauss Rifle, EM6 are all weapons I'd love to have on VS or even more TR, and GD-7F, Carnage, Anchor are as good if not better than VS or TR's options - I'd say the Orion beats Anchor though admittedly, but Orion is just an outlier and has been since forever.

NC also has great AV options and MAX. Ravens > VS/TR's AV, and Pheonix is the most unique launcher allowing them to hit targets other factions can't.

Also all faction's lockons are the same, you're imagining things due to your own bias.

The game went from being really special, to be really lame.

That's what happens when challenge is removed. It will get worse. Hopefully a new game comes out soon that offers the same things PS2 did before it was turned into a socialist experiment.

    Useless update?

I found the directive update very interesting. I long before this update played for Auraxium's this just rewards my style of using as many weapons as possible

The resource revamp has as of yet not been what I expected but a few tweaks will fix it for now and phase 2 will hopefully add the depth and strategy to it.

The nerfs, yeah most were not needed. Only the PPA and Bulldog needed anything doing to them in terms of a nerf

I believe this update to be good. Not ground breaking and aside from the obvious patch week bugs and performance gremlins it was good

Hmm, no. I mean, yeah, the game is changing all the way, sometimes it is very frustrating and annoying, sometimes it even comes to rage. A bit. But i'm still here, playing it, since beta. It's fun. A lot of problems, questions and strange decisions from SOE but it is what it is. FUN. I enjoy the way i can play it. So many styles, weapons, vehicle tactics. Not only ZERG actually. I still can find a lot of interesting stuff here, i still can hear my heartbeat, when in the big fight i'm running as engineer to the deployed sundy, and IM HERE, BASTARS, PUTTING SOME CAKES UNDER YOUR HOME, BOOOM and then i don't care about death, i'm happy! Adrenalin baby! Killed. Killed. Killed. BR100 pro tank? Okay, ill go again. Killed. Killed. But then finally REVENGE! That kill is the sweetest kill! It was hard to hunt that 100fps 100br mlg pro shooter, but i did it, it took me 7 atempt, but i did it! FUN. Chasing a lonely max as infiltrator: FUN. Tanking sundys, almost died, then suddenly friendly mosquito apperas, it feels like i called 911, i'm alive, everyone around died, FUN, THANKS MAN. This game. It is beautiful, it's a lot of rage posts and discussions, but it is the only game i'm playing that long! I'd like to play in with better performance, i'd like better optimisation tho. But i can find new ways to play it every day, that's worth it. I also like to find someone somewhere in his smoking lib, and then i see he is a light assault, happy you, i'm an engineer let me fix your ship. That "THANKS" in the middle of the nowhere is so good. Seriously, Planetside 2 needs more love, it's a great game actually, sure business plan sometimes ruins it, but then i find another way to have FUN. +1 from me, gonna play it more!

On the whole I agree. I do wish they would stop making everything less lethal. Go the opposite make it all more lethal or at least revert it to what it was. Increase blast sizes, increase damage and accuracy. Revert the rocketpod nerfs but also the AA nerfs. We want death, we want destruction with massive explosions that take out the dozen idiots cowering behind a rock instead of advancing. and tanks blowing up left and right but in the time they are alive raining destruction down on anyone stupid enough to get into their view.

I'm just glad we're still getting updates. Gives me a small glimmer of hope that the game will survive to see 2016.

Im waiting for Eternal Crusade which hopefully will do all planetside 2 does and more.
There are dome differences obviously, third-person instead of first-person, longer time to kill, more melee combat.
It won't be free2play though you will be able to play one faction with limited choices to try the game.
It will also have bigger differances between the faction so its not just the color of the factions that will be different.
It's set in the warhammer 40k universe so there will be plenty of lore/background for the factions as well.

You can go to the developers twitch account and have look for yourself at the game in its current pre-alpha state.

Still 1.5-2 years until release though :(

I still love the game plus it's no other fps that gives me the same feeling as this game. These forums are full of negative people. Constantly thinking another faction is better than the next.

Game seems fine to me. It can sometimes take a while to find the fight you enjoy, I just adapt to whatever the situation around the continents present.

My morning session I had plenty of kills and I was kept busy that way.

My evening session I only got one kill but I earned over 140 Certs in 100 minutes, which for me is very good (with boost, I should mention)

So, yeah, I am still getting plenty of enjoyment out of this game and if I ever get bored it will not be the games fault.

Yeah, and this update gave us some sorely needed content beyond "BR100", at the individual level. Yes, Planetside is about capturing bases and winning for your faction, but you'd be horribly shortsighted to not recognize the need for individualistic content - things that we enjoy and pursue in all of our MMO's, whether they are team-oriented or not.

I for one, cannot wait to get the knife directive reward!

To specifically address the OP - you would not want directives rewards to be straight upgrades in terms of performance over other players. It would have a very harmful effect on the game if the few elite players had a statistical, as well as skill advantage over newer players. In fact, that is the sort of thinking that would actually kill Planetside.

I do think there is a bit of weirdness in hit-reg with this patch. I have had the damnedest time landing moving head shots with the Bighorn, whereas I previously was able to do so somewhat reliably. Unless the additional 30m/s threw my aim off that badly... Also, you were QQing about rockets not OHK anymore... you do realize that requires flak 5. A 1000c investment, that needs to be selected over other options such as NW, ASC, bandolier... the % of players running around with flak 5 are so low that you probably have not had more than 5 direct hits result in no-kill since this patch dropped

in short: this update wasn't worthless, and the game is better than ever. Sure, I don't think the tank weapon changes were needed or are good. I also think they should have avoided putting partially implemented revamps of our resource system in place. But I am not losing interest at all, in fact, it has increased now that I have new personal goals to chase!

last update was really good. Enjoying resources update and quick spawn without loading screen.

This game has tons of potential left so I'm still here after nearly two years.

It's relatively friendly to non-supporting players though there needs to be MORE DEPTH to interest new folks and to keep the veterans around. Capitalize on PS2's uniqueness.

LESS focus on things like MLG, vids, individual actions and statistics and professional gamer hype.

Give the average player something to shoot (;)) for.

Make the game interesting, create the world... for crypes sake start by giving the world a more concrete history even if it's only a blurb of an opening statement to new players.

I'm very frustrated right now. I don't like how vehicles handle so I do not drive. It's useless now playing infantry agaisnt a massive vehicle zerg. I also don't want to use av weapons all the time; they are pretty damn boring and frustrating to use.

So I'm kind of at a loss right now how to play. Playing spawnroomwarrior is great for certs and all but gets old kind of quick.

I don't give a rat's *** about achievements in any game so I do not care about directives. I wish I could turn off the ribbon and other spam though.

I think for the people who been here since the beginning like us really appreciate how far the game has come from what it used to be.

Last update brought the bones of an achievement system that can be added to later and the update before that brought Hossin + other goodness. There's some instability right now, but overall. I wouldn't call the last two content patches "useless" by any stretch of the word.

Ya know, it just occurred to me.

Do nerf-babies pay for the game because of the nerfs, and do players refuse to pay for the game because of the nerfs?

I wonder if there's ever been a study about who is more loyal to a game; nerf-babies, or players?

Not sure whether all these updates are making me lose interest with this game, but i can certainly say without a doubt that i would lose interest faster if i DIDN'T have these updates. SOE at the very least are trying to improve the game and add stuff to revitalize the game and encourage freshblood. They made getting certs increasingly easier to reduce the grinding, they rebuilt the maps to make them more varied, more complex and interesting to fight. They gave us a new Continent to explore, they gave us alerts to entice people to play on different maps. Directives gives something to aim for and quantify some sort of progress rather then leave the game as some sort of endless sci-fi Valhalla, not that its a bad thing.

The game has come along way since 2012. Ok, people argue that what they're doing now should have been implemented from the start and the constant Nerfs and changes to pamper to the newbs and such. Personally all the changes have little effect on my experience of the game. Yeah implants were a big shock horror, but tbh i don't use it and those who do aren't OP that it becomes P2W and i've heard the nanites resource arguments, but since its barely affected me, i don't care. Yet.

But then, i say all this because i would get bored of this game if i played it every single day and there are days that i don't find the game rivetting if there isn't a fight i can get into or the entire faction that day was being rubbish. So i play the game predominately on weekends when more people are around for more shooty goodness.
