[Liberators] Balance is needed.

Sorry to get off topic here, but I skyguard quite a bit as well, and one thing I learned is don't ever engage a Lib 1vs1 if its just you two out there and he is free and clear to engage you. They will out dps you faster than you can kill them because of your reload times. It takes quite a few rounds to bring one down by yourself that is correct. If a good determined crew is after your done.

That is very rarely the case flying a Lib for me though. Generally have to get in and get out quick. No way to be subtle about it either because you are a flying advertisement that says "Keep your distance, and free certs!' :)

Back on topic, I have no complaints about the ground getting me, fair is fair. I do hate the fact that one ESF can ruin your day quickly and you have to use the damn ground cannon to fight back because the AA guns and angles provided suck so badly.

Hell, just move the garbage Walker to the top like a Gal so the third guy can do his job and I'd be very happy.

Right, I'll just RUN AND EXPOSE MY WEAK SPOT TO THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON IN THE GAME. This is an idea that won't fail. And when you find an AA turret that can move, for the love of god, tell me where, because I gotta see that ****.

That isn't the issue. Liberators eat tanks, it's part of their roles. While a liberator sweeping down to tank bust my vanguard and me dying is frustrating, it's part of the balance of roles. AP vanguard eats other tanks, though if that liberator hits me when my shield is off cooldown, they'll regret it. However, a skyguard is a tank solely dedicated to engaging air. Which was my point. Anti air is losing to air when there are no other tactics then 'hurr hurr I have more HP then you' and that just doesn't feel right.

Be surprised what a fully upgraded Tank buster can do to a AP Vanguard, but it should not kill it unless you forget to pop shield. My friend runs with a fully upgraded tank buster clip and rips through Tanks, Sunderers, and other Libs.

Really just depends on the angle of attack and whether or not the Vanguard sees it coming. If they don't see it coming you can one clip or at least make it burn if they don't pop shield. Usually if they are doing that then the Dalton shot will finish you off after they pull up.

Um, moving towards them diagonally only exposes the front of your vehicle, that is not the weak spot; especially when doing so makes you harder to hit.
You seem to be under the illusion that TTK should be the primary difference between what counters what, it shouldn't and isn't. AA flak's advantage is its range and ability to do a lot of damage over time. A tankbusters advantage is massive burst damage. If you let a lib get close enough to tankbuster you, it is your own (or your factions) fault, not a balance issue.
  5. theholeyone

Yup, was playing cat and mouse with a vanny at crossroads the other day. He hid in the vehicle bay so I landed on the opposite side, unfortunatly that was the direction he was facing so despite getting a nearly fully upgraded tankbuster clip into him, we got wrecked.
  6. Hands Down

That is exactly point he tries to make - Lib is smashing down its direct counter! Instead of running away, or keeping a distance, or being more tactical in engagement, Lib comes after its supposed bane like a wolf after a rabbit...

Imagine if you get a fever and they give you pills supposed to cure it, except that pills given to you are as effective as a placebo - that is what it feels like to use Skyguard (what a joke to call it that) against Lib.
  7. Angry Scientist

A liberator has speed, a gun that can kill anything in a handful of shots, and has a good amount of HP. Such that it takes dedicated effort to down one before it withdraws to repair. This is fair.

And then they gave it the most powerful repeating gun so that anything the belly couldn't kill, the nose sure as hell will. And it has the speed and HP to take anything out it picks. It's just that it's a little risky in bigger fights, so liberators tend to flee then stomp anything picking a fight. In low population times? Haha.

Honestly, no lies. Night on Matterson is when the liberator crews troll around and kill anything they can get their hands on. I've spent more then one ESF trying to fight back using 'correct' methods, but it's difficult when you flinch even a little and eat tank buster for half your health or a lucky dalton spammed shot.

Nope you did not shoot me down. After 3-4 mins I desided to "Divine Wind" into the already low HP Lib.

But I will keep an eye out for you tho.
Found out the best way is to go air hammer at range, thought Air to Air missile damage against libs needs buffing for sure. 9 hits it takes currently.
  9. theholeyone

A liberator takes two men to do what you say, and you would have a single low skill skyguard able to take out a highly skilled 2 man craft? Whatever happened to skill based balance?
If you eat a full tankbuster clip in a skyguard there has been a large skill differential; stop asking for for the skill ceiling to be lowered and instead raise your own.
  10. Robes

Why do bads have to complain so much, its getting pathetic
  11. Angry Scientist

Obviously you don't grasp what I'm saying, nor how really easy it is. In my example, I saw the liberator coming, and made sure my front was to it, popped fire extinguish when taking damage, all while ripping open fire directly on it, at a range I couldn't miss. It beat me without any though. That is the problem.

The liberator does not need to use cover. He did not dodge my fire while placing accurate shots on me. He did not make passes while I picked my nose and took damage. There were no tactics. There was no 'skill', unless you count not crashing into the ground as one.

If this doesn't get through to you, nothing will. :/
  12. theholeyone

Do you think you should try moving out of his fire next time?

I've had that happen to me in a skyguard (poorly certed) a number of times, never been one clipped, maybe it is because I move around, it's a lot easier to aim the skyguard on the move than a tankbuster. Most times they miss a lot of the clip, I've even had bad pilots nose down to far trying to get hits as I come towards them and crash into the ground behind me.
Skyguard is a moveable AA platform, use it as such for better effect.

lol libbing wont be fixed for a loooong time, not to mention that its been broke since release as well.

    oh

    woodman LOL

In my week of playing there I found a grand total of 5 esfs that could do the reverse maneuver, and one liberator that actually tried to fight air. You couldn't ask for an easier server for a2a fighting dude. Just get good and stop being an a2a missile scrub and maybe you'll do better!

Methinks my sig is appropriate for this thread. Anyways, Liberators are the B17 Flying Fortresses of their days. They're built to take damage, and deal it. So. How did the Luftwaffa deal with the Flyign Fortress? They sicced multiple fighters on them. How did the B17 deal with multiple fighters? They traveled together, and tried to have a fighter escort.

Frankly, in a game like this there is no such thing as 1v1 balance due to the X factor...X being 'skill'. I take my reaver up against a lib, and I'm dead. Because I suck as a pilot, and most libs have decent pilots and gun crews. On the other hand, a good ESF pilot can take down a decent, fully crewed liberator.

I do think Libs should be a little slower though. That's not so much a balance issue as a "I'm sick and tired of them getting away from me when they're trailing smoke' issue :>
  17. Tommyp2006

Liberators are easy targets 99% of the time for a half decent ESF pilot. Lately I've been farming them with just the stock nosegun working on getting the gold medal for it. There are very lib teams good enough to kill a skilled esf pilot.

Also, if you're trying to use A2A missiles, that's part of your problem.

    also

vvvvvv lol one of my outfit's leaders killed him with a drop pod.
