So what's the deal with C4?

Well, honestly, Light Assault being my favorite class I wouldn't mind different options.

From my perspective, trying to be reasonable, I don't understand why C4 isn't at least universal to all classes such as the medical kits. Being that Infiltrators cloak is easily heard, I'd still have a much easier time dropping C4 on MAX units or many vehicles as LA than Infiltrator. Also, I'd drop C4 for something else perhaps if other options were actually available to us as LA besides a med kit. Honestly if I wanted to take on vehicles I'd roll as Engi or HA, as LA I generally want to get around with my jetpack taking out infantry and being suicidal, not necessarily sneaky by trying to jump on backs of tanks to blow them up in the middle of tank zergs. Even more utility to help me get into the back lines, to take out their support lines, snipers, et cetera, would be welcome.

Oh, and better grenades. Sticky Grenades for my LA with grenade pouch, yes please.

So what's the deeeeaaal with C4? It doesn't look very scary, reminds me of play-doh, maybe you could just mold it into a bomb and throw it at someone and why do they call it C4? You only get one of them. Were they playing bingo when trying to come up with the name?

Except that as soon as you respawn, any bricks of C4 will vanish. And you can only lay as many bricks of C4 as you are cert'd for, the rest will vanish (even if you run back to an ammo terminal to resupply).
  4. Cleaver

700 certs to carry two bricks at once, long throw time, long detonate time, a lot of infantry resources, despawns upon death.

You can see why people get frustrated with it.

I'd like to say "obvious troll is ..." but that at least let's me talk about RL stuffs.

C4 ("C-4") refers to an explosive of the family Composition C, e.g., Composition C-2 and Composition C-3, and is composed primarily of RDX (cyclotrimethylene trinitramine). "Composition" is the designation for any explosive composed of multiple ingredients(cyclotrimethylene trinitramine + diethylhexyl + polyisobutylene); the letter is just a series designation (see: Composition B); the number is a version in the series (no, not the number of carbon atoms).

Despite being called a "plastic explosive," with the word "plastic" suggesting it is firm, C4 is designed to be highly malleable thus that it can be tucked into creases and gaps without loss of explosive power. Doing this actually applies explosive stress on structures in ways that can make it appear like the target was blown apart from the insides. C4 has a detonation velocity of 8,092 m/s, which is slightly above average for a solid explosive, but it is also incredibly stable and can not be set off by heat or gunfire. The detonator/blasting cap is an electric device that produces a small but powerful explosive shock within the C4 that sets off the whole of the explosive.

In-game, most classes get to carry two bricks of C4 with notable exceptions being the Infiltrator who gets none and the Engineer who can carry four bricks after levels certed into the Utility Pouch. The time delay for C4 is accounting for the molding, or the detonator/blasting cap setup, or for both, or was merely artificially introduced for gameplay balance.

Wow, that totally went right over your head. Talk about being oblivious.

His title reminded me of how Seinfeld starts his jokes. Take the stick out of your ***.

It's because of Light assualts. They would be flying and dropping crap on people all day. Atleast sony made C-4 powerful when it does go off.
  8. FateJH

Sorry. Never found him funny before not finding him funny was a thing so I'm not familiar.

Lemme put on my lab coat and pedantic glasses...

    plas·tic

capable of being molded or of receiving form: clay and other plastic substances.

They buffed the explosive radius of C4 by 1.5 meters, it can still one hit kill my max with flak level 4 if it lands to close to me, you don't even have to stick C4 to something, and lastly you can fly over your target and it will float nicely down to the target. As a tanker, I think it's dumb that C4 exploding in front of my full health tank where the most armor is instagibs it.

Be thankful infantry doesn't have to sneak up and actually attach the C4 to the weakest part your target as seen from 0:10-0:17 in the NC Video. You can run full speed at the then target drop it and then run away, you can drop it from a roof and it will nicely float down without bouncing and land on a tank, you can use it as a mine and set a booby trap, or you can jet pack over the tank and the C4 doesn't even have to land on the tank to instagib it.

I'm not saying that C4ing an aware tanker is easy, but considering the short respawn time infantry have, the very fast infantry resources gain you have at your disposal for getting more C4, and the overabundance of bad tankers and horribly guarded sunderers I see no reason for complaints. MBT's are already disposable explosive taxi's made of balsa wood, lets not increase the ease to instagib them more shall we?

In Battlefield u basically throw it & it sticks to anything it touches. Probably best system so far.
    2 C4s cant kill sundy!
  13. Tasogie

It isn't that powerful, its easy to put C4 in middle of 10 guys, an as must have flak, it will only kill a few. Ive dropped it before next to groups of people before it was destroyed by SOE then detonated it when I came back, an most of time nearly everyone survives.

A C4 stick does NOT insta kill any tank in the game, it does not happen.
You need 2 sticks on a tank or under it.

As for the idiot calling people mongoloids, had to report that filth, really grow up a little.
  14. Tasogie

Actually I found him to be rude arrogant snob with serious delusions of superiority. sienfield was a moron to say the least. He came to my city once here in Aus, didn't like the penthouse they put him in, in the Casino an flew back to mainland after his ONE show so he could (an I quote) "stay in a place more fitting for his status"
  15. FateJH

You wouldn't believe the half of it.

I love pedantry myself. I knew the actual definition but that sentence was an edit of an original "As with other plastic products, such as ..." and then I stopped when I couldn't think of a consumer product that was made of plastic with the intention of being malleable. After thinking a bit more, [Edit: bad example. That was hardness, not malleability].
  16. Armchair

The delays are the results of tears gumming up the system. Because many people thing that it's unfair that you can destroy their tank by reaching melee range and burning a few hundred infantry resources. It's probably only a matter of time before the tears reach the point where you'll get a little "terminal hacking" progress bar for trying to place C4 and the tank driver will get C4 warning alarm.
  17. Joe-H2O

    C4 now despawns on death.
  18. Nintyuk

It's 200 Infantry resources for 2 sticks to destroy a 250 Resource MBT from Point blank range. Or 300 Plus a lot of cert Specialisation If your destroying a Sundy 400 resources Just using C4. A Infantry Man can kill 4 Vehicles before Running out of resources and then being defenceless to tanks as most tankers cry for.

    Take this as you will.
  19. bPostal

Correct, it despawns upon the player spawning. If the player does not respawn the c4 will stay put. Leaving it available to be shot by someone else to blow up the bus.
That is why you need two people to ensure it goes up in smoke.
  20. Stargazer86

I wouldn't mind the delay at all if it felt smoother. Perhaps with some visual indication as to when you're able to place another stick or detonate.

For example: Toss one stick of C4. A small bar pops up in the middle of the screen that shows when you're allowed to toss down another/detonate. Just something that eases the transition. Because as it stands, throwing down C4 and then fruitlessly spamming the button until you're finally able to either blow it up or place another is really not very smooth.

Current: Toss C4 - Hop around and spam right click - Toss another C4 - Run away, spam right click some more. Oh god why won't it explode? Ohgodohgod! Finally, there it goes!

Wanted: Toss C4 - Watch timer bar tick down - Toss another C4 - Run away, watch timer tick down. Detonate.
