Gameplay just boring (Status Woodman)

    Really it is getting boring.

    everyday its the same.
the zergs always go the same ways.
there is always the same fight.
zerg comes with tanks shoot the defenders into the spawn. infantry camping the spawn. base lost next one.
zerg reaches the warpgate and then the defender zerg pushed back to their warpgate.
the crown is under the control of the loosing empire till the zerg attakes again.
small bases are sensless. you cant really defend them so no one care.

its a really really bad gameplay. no tactic nothing. if you cant take a base, well just get a bigger tank zerg and thats it.

i know, now a lot of people will tell me. well take a brake or just leave the game, and really i will do that. i had dreams that i dont get a stupid casual battlefield 3 game with planetside but it is the same.
well not the same because in battlefield a small squad could do something.
in planetside 2 a small squad can do two things.
1.) ghost cape (VERY INTERESTING --- thats sarcasm)
2.) go with the zerg (very very tactical)

and esamir and amerish. really you could delete these two conitnents because there is NEVER ANY ENEMIES!!!! (well on woodman)

and dont tell me get an outfit. i m in a 50 man german outfit. and more and more people just leaving the game because it is just boring.

i know a lot of people out there like sensless casual teamdeathmatches. but people like me who want a challenge are getting bored.

SO THE END OF THE STORY :

SOE i hope you will change that, because the other games show very well what happens if you only hear on casual gamers and leave the real joyal community alone.
casual leave for another game, the other players already left because the game is just broing. no one left.
this wont happen in a week or in month or maybe in half a year. but with that status of the game RIGHT now you never can hold it 10 years as you planed it.
you cant hold it 2 years in my opinion.

but ok, i take a very very long brake now.

to all the FANBOYS the FLAMEBATTLE is open now. SHOUT OUT YOUR MINDLESS OPINIONS.

ps: english inst my main language so really hold your breath with: LEARN ENGLISH

It's not just Woodman, pretty much all servers are the same way. I would say server merges will help but that still doesn't affect smaller type squads usefulness. Overall you pretty much nailed the state of the game as it stands today.

server merger change only one thing in my opinion ---- more people on indar

I was talking with someone about that the other day and we came to the conclusion that most will sit in Indar queue and eventually logoff in frustration rather than accept Esamir or Amerish.

    Don't feed the zerg.

Cap behind the rolling circus and kill strayers until they run out of steam. Zergs are the least effective way to play this game. If countered correctly they'll gain almost nothing.

i can only speak for miller but we have great battles everyday on amerish and esamir..
i play everyday and i was on indar ..hmm.. maybe a few days ago last time.. no need to go or stay there..

but its true, for the long run planetside will need a metagame...
but they are working on, game is still new and we will see whats going on the next months...

take a break and come back in a few months..

yeah but capping behind the zerg means on woodman : ghost cap again

I would never judge anyone for their poor english, and yours is perfectly ok. I dont speak anything but english so the fact that u can communicate with me at all is a bonus to me and a reflection of your time spent learning something that benefits us both, while me not speaking anything else shows how lazy i am hehe. Im american (celtic-mexican) 50-50 and dont even speak spanish when half my family is fluent in english and spanish, the other half in just english. lived here my whole life and grew up on a cattle ranch. White country boy as they come if u look at me, currently living in the city. To repeat myself your english is totally fine.

As far as the game goes I agree it's more of a game world than an actual game. Players relying on self motivation and the really short term goal of owning a base for 5 seconds. There's nothing else to kill, loot, farm, craft, well do anything with. No missions, no objectives, no short or long time goals that u complete and get rewarded for. It's just a world of bases atm that u can capture. Im still having fun though but i've only been playing a month and a half maybe less. I like the tanks, planes, guns, abilites, but i too feel like we need a, well, idk really. Something..just needs something to AMP up the whole experience and give me a real reason to want to capture these bases. Killing people is fun and making the map turn to your empire is fun but 30 seconds after u leave a base it can be recaptured making u go...wtf i just pwned everyone and took that place driving out an entire empire of people.. idk just needs something ; P

I used to play Wolfenstein ET, and i was tottaly addicted to that game. This game has better gameplay as far as tanks and planes and scale. That game had infantry classes that play out similiar . So in that aspect i say planetside2 just offers more and is more epic in numbers and how awesome your screen can look. What had me playing that game as soon as i woke up was escorting the npc vehicles that carry the objectives through the maps and decided who won and lost. It was still a FPS but the objectives that determined the outcome was really what just made it for me. The awesome shooting and classes plus the objectives just made it OMG i gotta play and win again. Idk what to do about it cause taking a base is kinda an "we won bitxes" moment in this game but just doesnt have the same magic to it.

I think because in that game if u escorted the objective all the way to the win then u were a hero because that was the hardest thing to accomplish, u had to go through ALL the enemy to do it every time. Not one free foot of space was given to what u escorted/accomplished. In this game one person can ghost cap a base and that can be as simple as strolling in the front door with zero risk. Yes people should defend, but u arent forced to. Idk, just a thought. The reward i enjoyed was the accomplishment that i felt and everyone else KNEW 100 % was hard earned.

I'm on Miller as well. Just at the weekend, I had fun and great battles and tactical squad/platoon play on Indar, Amerish and Esamir. No end of options - I spent the best part of an hour on a platoon operation interdicting traffic out of Zurvan from the cliffs above (as the other three squads capped the plant itself), to give one example. Great fun and the sun setting over the bowl of Zurvan, as I stood with my platoon mates, was worth the all the station cash I've spent.

On Esamir I had massive sweeping tank cavalry charges and infantry battles. On Amerish I fought amid the forests and hills near bio plants and smaller facilities.

    LOVING IT.

You are late to notice this :D

Amerish and Esamir (Woodman) can have good battles, you just need to keep checking for a huge population percentage increase for one empire. That means they intend on Cont-capping, so grab your 50 guys and make it damn hard work for said empire. If you think a 50 player outfit is small squad stuff, we have on average 3-5 people playing at a time, THAT is small squad stuff. But just last night, 3 of us held one region in Amerish, which was eventually cut off, for a couple of hours, against some very persistent enemies. After we were eventually overrun, 5 of us attacked a Biolab which again lasted over an hour, but was extremely fun. We were against similar numbers of similar skill, but eventually we emerged victorious.
  12. Nariquo

i m not late :) i saw that problem already in beta. but i thought SOE will change that problem. the whole community already told them all these problems so i waited. but now quite three monts later well they change to game to the worse not to the better.

meta game, conitnent loocking should have been TOP PRIORITY for them. but no they wanted to sell there guns etc.
these are the things which i really dont understand.
in my opinion you should programm the REAL important things first.
when you have a stabile game with meta game then you can begin with polishing and celling stuff.
but ok im only a player not a developer or a marketing person .
i play games since 20 years i have NO CLUE what games need :) (sarcasm again)

Until there are some requirements and incentives to actually play the move the map game, nothing will change. My clan regularly moves the map, but the fact is that 95% of it is boring mindless capping of empty hexes that results in maybe 1-2 defenders showing up and getting rolled by our squad. The large player blobs ignore everything, and only respond when a critical map hex is going to be lost. Sadly, majority of outfits on the server no longer bother with anything but the blob/zerg fights, because they realize as much as our clan does, that moving the map is pointless.
  14. LordMondando

Plays in zerg - complains about zerg.

Look into the mirror and see you hath become your own monster.

On the social organised side of things, the game is very much what you make of it.

thats the same problem my outfit is loosing so many players.
if you start planetside 2 it is soo big and fantastic. and then the moment comes when you realise that everything you do is so pointless like in a teamdeathmathc game.
well there are people who like that. but i and my mates started that game because we wanted WAR not deathmatch. and without a point well.
we lost 50 % of our outfitplayerbase already. another outfit with 100 man with whom we played doesnt exists anymore.
    it is so sad

PS2 must fit to the PS4 console kid CoD generation. So SOE left out deeper game mechanics that would ask too much from console players, we PC players who are used more to play in a team, use teamspeak and want to find out the secret tactics are left behind for the console players who just want to some uncomplicated fun and shoot others.
Since I heard PS2 comes for the PS4 I don't ask myself anymore why SOE decided to bring out an MMOFPS with such a basic game design that's more like CoD than Battlefield.
  17. maxkeiser

All of this works fine in the game. Get in the right squad/platoon with good leadership - I've seen counterattacks, pincer movements, coordination across a battle front with 3-4 platoons, traps sprung, etc etc etc. The variety is almost endless. The game is what people make it.

At the moment, I think the biggest flaw with the game is the hex system. Sony just needs to admit it doesn't work. What they need to do is implent a lattice system so people know where the next attack and the next defense will be. Also, a few small outposts (especially on Indar) should be removed, as they are useless to defend.

I seriously think a lattice system of sorts could fix A LOT of the metagame issues that are currently in game, and it wouldn't be superhard to implement.
  19. maxkeiser

Nope. Don't want restrictions on movement like this. Fewer bases, yes, but we should be able to choose which out of a whole range of bases to attack (i.e. 10+ bases). We don't want linear, funnelled gameplay. We want sand-box, creative gameplay. What we have now is pretty good, it just need refinement.

  20. Harbinger

The thing is that a lattice system is paradoxally an incentive for creative and strategic thinking. Once you know where an enemy is coming from/where he's going to attack, you can actually PLAN your defense/attack. Right now it's just zerging and bumrushing from one base to the next, not really knowing which base is going to get hit. People just don't defend in this game, because they have no idea where the attack will be.

With a lattice system, zergs will clash with each other a lot more and create stalemates. It's in these stalemates that tactics can really come into play to break such a stalemate. A gal drop of 50 men into enemy lines in order to disrupt them so your own zerg can move up, would suddenly become a viable thing. Whereas now, galaxies serve no real (useful) purpose.

The lattice system isn't as funelled as you think. The hex system is just too open and too sandbox, that it destroys the cool and strategic warfare aspect of the game.
