It just like you asking "How does the goverment have limited cash paper/coin supply". Short answer is Inflation. Good this somebody in DBG know some economics. The flashback of $1 sale is infecting my memory now.

Your point would make more sense if they didn't come up with more memberships, but they did so it's a moot observation at best. Besides it's a digital membership so economics literally have nothing to do with it. It's marketing, not economics.

Bad timing DBG. Who has that kind of extra $$$$ at Christmas time. I think a better time would be after people get their tax returns back.
