NC weapons are a little bit too good...

Before you start reading, dear reader, this thread is made mostly to show what NC weapons can do when used PROPERLY , long story short what happens if you aim the gun at the head and compensate for the recoil and shut up the OMG VANU AND TR OP PLZ NERF! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Plays VS* That was a decent run, got some good kills and overall, i've checked my K/D for lulz and it was 3.5 *Plays TR* That was REALLY good! Expected to be much better than the VS because of the certs i spent to improve my class and effectiveness, checked the K/D for the lulz and it was 6.5 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Plays NC* What the Higby, game? What the Higby happened? I just pointed my gun at the general direction, and i won 1v3 engagements as a LA against 3 HAs , just by pointing the gun at the head and compensating for the recoil (Which, isn't that big in comparison how some make it out to be). I was shocked when i took a glance at my K/D, It was a freaking 50. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And that was the story before i decided to create this thread. IMHO, this is a bit ridiculous. Even though 99% of NC players don't know the term "Recoil" or "Headshots" and definitely don't know the term "Recoil compensation" (Which is totally a strange term) in the hands of somebody who can actually use the guns properly, they are freaking ridiculous. If you just calm and aim for the head, you can wreck every single HA no matter what.----------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now, before everybody starts pulling out their pitchforks and start pointing them at me, let me explain why is this so ridiculous. You see, if you just hold the right mouse button on a TR gun, not only is your CoF terrible, the gun also starts jittering around so much it is just terrible. I always had to burst my weapon beyond 50m+ in order to even land shots, it was extremely rewarding compensating for it, but it took weeks of getting used to and practice --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- VS weapons are much easier to use, but they lack the DPS to be really effective at quickly dropping targets. Yes, there are the CQC weapons, but they cost 1000 certs and are pretty hard to use at close-medium range. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ And the NC? They've got, what exactly to cope with? The slightly bigger recoil and CoF is a counter-balance to the slower RoF, but it still makes the guns more accurate, since the CoF expansion isn't big enough to influence where the bullets are going except the last few rounds. This, combined with the significantly (And on some weapons stupidly ridiculous) damage can make people into headshot wizards really quick. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- That doesn't convince you? Well, try it out yourself. I could easily clear a room of 6 people and still having a round or two to spare. And i'm not trolling or joking. If i find myself with a TR gun, i can kill at most 5 people and empty my mag. With VS? I can drop down at most 4. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SHOULD THIS GET NERFED??? I don't think so, it's still ridiculous on some weapons, like EM6, Razor-GD23, AF-4 Cyclone and even on the default weapons. A quick tip is to usually start at the neck/upper torso and let your gun kick up while slowly pulling down. Once you get better with this you will get used to it. If you burst, start at the head and fire a burst of 3-6 shots while heavily pulling down to offset the horizontal recoil. ---------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I will probably regret posting this, because NC players will stop being pray 'n spray specialists and actually git gud :( Also, if you expected video footage, i sincerely apologize, since i don't have any recording software.

I must thank you and curse you at the same time, because you actually put more than a moment's thought into your post's formatting.

Everyone has always said: the main thing which always hold back the NC are the NC. It's an efficient but vicious self-balacing mechanism.

Back in line with you and keep yelling "Nerf VS - NERF VS - NERF VS!11", like every other good pro skilled player.

    Prove it.

Prove that you racked up a K/D of 50 just because you were using NC guns. Show me the killboard that demostrates it. Then show me the killboards you have as VS and TR.

Your thread is purely anecdotal. It requires that we take what you say on trust. Forgive me if I do not.

Indeed you were right at the proving point, because my total K/D on my TR is actually 1.5, but my seasonal (monthly) K/D on June is 6.5 , as for the VS, i am spot-on accurate. And for the NC... I have a K/D of 10.2 total, but i keep running into stupid killstreaks now and then, and i don't care about my K/D other than my daily K/D, because it showcases your effectiveness better that total K/D.

50 not bad for a new person wait till you get k/d into the 600 to 700 hundred range.

I know right? There are so many good players on miller, they are so MLGPRO they can shoot through walls and get stuck in them, and they are so good they make an account every day to showcase their XxxMLG420xxX skills. Too bad i am not one of those people :(

TR Killboard: http://www.planetside-universe.com/character-8257461498437348945.php?tab=killboard VS Killboard: http://www.planetside-universe.com/character-8264156971796577889.php?tab=killboard NC Killboard: http://www.planetside-universe.com/character-8262937017478763713.php?tab=killboard Keep in mind that i overexagerated my K/D, but the guns are still super easy to use. Though, if it comes to 1v1 i usually win as a LA, though if you don't believe me, take my word as a grain of salt.

Why ever would you do that?

When discussing balance, one must deal in facts.

What these stats and your testimony say is that you find NC weapons better for your particular playstyle than TR weapons. Strangely though, considering your testimony, your VS outscores your NC overall by some margin. The killboard does not look as great, but a single session, as displayed by a killboard, doesn't really have any statistical significance - Some days, you'll find my NC killboard full of deaths, while on the same day my VS killboard will be full of kills. The next day, this could be completely reversed.

Looking at the creation dates for these characters and looking at the score per minute, K/D ratio and so on, it appears that the characters you created later have better overall stats.

All the above stated, one person's play does not tell the whole balance story. It can speak of a single player's preferences and playstyle (which are of course impacted by the player's motivation, the time of day at which they play, the sort of fights they get into with that character, and so on)... But on their own, they do not say much at all about interfactional weapon balance. To do that, a far larger sample size must be taken.

So please, before you make statements about "X is OP" or "Y is too good", spend some time analysing more than just your own numbers. There are various sites that pull faction and server-wide stats from the API. These are your friend.

You may find that interpreting these statistics is very difficult (with weird daily spikes and troughs), and that is precisely the reason that so many balance discussions fall into **** slinging and yelling so very quickly... Threads like this one do not help. Sensationalist chatter only clouds the issue, which is a very important one for the future of the game.

    - Look at a large sample of statistics.
    - Think hard.
    - FInally, and at last, make a statement... And prepare for it to be contested.

Welp, i turned a potentially good discussion single-handedly into a ****post :( . Higby me in the Clegg... Pretty much the only thing that can actually prove my points is video footage, but i don't know what software should i use :( Overall you make an excellent point :) and even though every single time i play i get this experience, i can't prove it :/

I am using OBS for recording gameplay. It is free and it is relatively easy to use. There are also a few YouTube videos that explain how to use it for gaming purposes.

    Nar, NC weapons are fine.
    If anything they are lacking.
Its the superior skills and organisation of NC that reigns supreme.
This is what causes you to have better K/D, SPM etc.
The sheer quality and calibre of the players around you boosts your K/D to those levels.

  18. UberNoob1337101

ROFL, just because i began my PS2 career with my TR account means that my K/D has to be awful at all times, and if anything, my K/D this month is 6.5 Keep dreamin' NC , keep dreamin' Also, my original reaction to this comment.

Will the universe end if we dont have a "buff nerf OP UP thread" every day? Am I missing something with all this stupid threads? Illuminati?
  20. DramaticExit

Don't feel bad. Recording your gameplay footage does a lot to tell the developers how a weapon "feels" and that is important. There are some things that are statistically great, but feel like crap to use - and some things that feel great, but are actually not really that great at all.

Truth is, all weapons should 'feel' powerful and fun to use. Gameplay footage and user testimony is the best (read; only) way to achieve this.

There are some guns that I know are absolutely awesome but just don't suit me at all. The Anchor is a great example of this. I absolutely hated auraxiuming it, despite knowing that it's bloody excellent. It just felt 'wrong' somehow. I got decent stats with it (decent for me, at least), but I really didn't enjoy using the thing.

This might be the feeling you get with TR weapons and VS weapons. It might be that rather than them being outright better or worse, you just enjoy the feel of NC stuff more.
