To use a T3 implant will cost......

That was said about selling scopes for SC aswell. Did the buyers of scopes for SC rise into the ranks of top players?

Still, there are signs of PS2 losing steam.

I wouldn't be surprised if they wrapped up the PS4 port for 2015 and stopped updating the thing because clearly, the updates they're putting out aren't making enough money. Vets have certs by the hundreds and can't be milked anymore; look at the focus and updates on "new players" they've been pulling out, A YEAR AND A HALF after release.

Perhaps SOE are trying to get people to see that a 33% nerf to XP gain can be countered by a nice big fat membership where you can switch that back to how it was.
  4. squarebug

there's plenty of membership/SC stuff already.

I actually approve of this method for implants.

You can find normal tier 1 implants by just playing the game. You can charge you implants by collecting and combining implants-- again, by just playing the game.

You can purchase a pack of random implants through the Depot. You don't know what you are getting, just like in a pack of gaming cards. Great way to make money on SOEs.

It's not pay to win because you're not guaranteed to get something useful. I just hope SOE keeps the prices to something reasonable like 250 for 4 and 500 for 7

I'm going to have to wait till I see the stats on these things before I decide if they're worth it.

As for being P2W.. I'm not so sure. If everything can be obtained through Ingame means. Then its not P2W. The Lockon Launchers, Bursters, Vehicle Weapons and a slew of other things aren't P2W. They call can be bought instantly with SC.

Numbers I see being thrown around is 50SC or 71 Certs. Umm what about a 700SC/1000crt weapon? Its the same ratio. If implants are P2W then this game has been P2W since Open Beta. Everyone should be fine with that by now.

Again lets see those benefits. In MWO there was a huge outcry about consumables being added (like implants they could be bought with MC or ingame currency). They were added and they weren't bad. Course that game is known to be P2L (Pay to Lose) for some of the cash only things being inferior in some respects to the ingame currency items (think Battle Rifles in PS2.. yeah they aren't bad, but they aren't as good as a good carbine in most situations).

I normally have 9500+ certs saved. Sure I've spent station cash on a helmet or two, armour. I spent £30 on Alpha Squad before the game even went live.

I will never pay to run implants. Ever. It's completely the wrong track for SOE to take. It's a huge turn off.

Indeed, I will take more fun from killing people running lots of implants while running none myself. It adds a bit more challenge.
  8. LapsedPacifist

That is... A fair point. Yeah you're right. I was thinking along the lines that in many kinds of fight, a max tier implant wouldn't be worth running. But you could still run it, and you still gain an advantage from doing so, even if it's sometimes only a small advantage, so I suppose all it does is widen that gap between the newb and over-certed vet.

EDIT: I think if the 'stock' implant was something genuinely useful this would be less of a problem. If that regeneration was the stock implant then choosing another would actually be a disadvantage except with certain specialised tactics, giving vets more customisation and newbs an easier time in most head on fights. Make it happen SOE.

Some people in this thread do not know that implant drop mechanism has not been implemented on PTS yet
Other don't know that the energy is not consumed during respawn waiting and using other loadouts
Nobody here actually knows the planned drop rates of implants
NOBODY here knows the cert costs of those since everything costs 1 cert on PTS

YET MOST PEOPLE WHINE AND CALL IT BAD

    FFS, soothe your breasts!

If SOE is not careful with monetizing actual gameplay, they will lose many players and take a serious reputation hit
  12. Captain Kid

Anybody got a list of these implants? I can find plenty but think I got outdated info.

From what I've read so far I'm not a fan.
Then again, I haven't played 10.000 hours, spend €300 and have auraxium on several weapons and am craving for new stuff.

The game is random and complicated enough as it is, don't need more of this crap.
  13. Vivicector

Random is bad. Ways of getting implants are bad. The certs/SC costs of running implants are ridiculous. More then that, BR100 guys will now have even more advantage over other players, since they can easily spend certs on those implants.

SC for temporary powerups is bad any way you look at it.

Why are they even pushing this anyway? It got downvoted to oblivion on the roadmap.
  15. Pootisman

I wouldnt waste a single CERT on a consumable until i have CERTed everything i want and need. Implants are only useful for BR100 players.
  16. Llaf

Scopes and passive bonuses like health regeneration or auto-spotting are two completely different things.
  17. SharpeShooter

if you have an implant equipped it uses energy! There is no "on/off" switch! To equip and implant you need an infantry terminal!
  18. SharpeShooter

Its true we don't know many things! However, we know how much the certs packs/energy packs will cost in Station cash! and as 1 station cash equals about 1.4 cert points we know how much they will cost to run an hour.

Furthermore, it is reasonable to assume that if SOE want to make money with the implants, you will not be getting implants at a rate that will make buying energy packs obsolete. I would assume that you will only be able to substitute your implant use very slightly with drops.

However, it is true that we will not know for sure until they implement every aspect of the implant update on the PTS.
  19. PurpleOtter

    Sooo..

    IMPLANT = SC/Cert sucking PARASITE

    Got it!
  20. libbmaster

Wait, can you get energy for free? (I.e. playing the game).

If you can... and you can get the implants for free by playing as well... and their bonuses are as mellow as they appear....

Then this is no-where near as catastrophic as people are making it out to be.
